QUOTE(sonicbull @ Jun 2 2014, 10:37 PM) Thanks and I hope the lowyat readers are aware that the returns are not similar to fd and heck, lower than savings acct interest! For me, back to learn more about investing & finance... er.. the returns MAY be lower, equals or higher than FD. Where does it say lower than FD or savings a/c ar? or based on yr own timing & returns? Note - yr reality may not be the reality of others that has $ in CMF before or after yr date in leh.

Getting Started

|
Been with FSM for 1 year now. My ROI is 2.67% (IRR 2.95%) Equities 75% Bond 25%.
About 65% of it was invested in late May and early June 2013 when the market was high.

If 1 year ROI is less than 3%, is it considered worse than fixed deposit return?

3% in a year isn't very good for UT - I'm at about about 7.5% on FSM for the last year, but considering all this as my retirement investment when I hit 55, FSM is one of 4 portfolios. if you're in it for the long term, not much of a concern if a slow year, need to rebalance maybe

"is it a concern", you asked? Over the last three years, S&P calculates almost four in five domestic stock fund managers failed to beat broader indexes.
