Well this is not Australia....In malaysia you can hardly get anything less than 30 degrees celsius at the intake manifold when cruising (I assume the inlet temp in the video is the same as intake manifold temp). In traffic jam the intake temp can easily go over 50-60 degrees celsius (Preve I heard goes up to 75 degrees lol), the ambient temp alone can go up to 42 degrees instead of the chilly 19 degrees in NSW.

It's not the lack of cold air I wanna address....it's the presence of very hot air sweat.gif

Quazacolt. What you posted is not relevant to what is dares saying. Dares idea is to wrap the stock air box up not change it to open pod or use cold air intake.

I've done a test with my stock air box with wrapping and without wrapping. There's a 2c different from the result using OBD to check. Also the temp is more constant with wrapping compare to without wrapping. Plus intake temp don't hear up so fast during idle with wrap.

What is the accuracy of the result? +/- 2 degree C is negligible, IMO.

I mean the accuracy of the reader. If reader read +/- 1 degree, then difference is maximum is +/-1 degree only.

Readout is from ECU....so, how accurate go ask Proton... biggrin.gif

I'm not defending my DIY or myself but below is my ideology and way of doing things. I'm sorry if my words feel offending to some.

For I'm a DIY type of guy....I won't think or doubt too much about the end result of a project that I'm going to do even if no one did them before.....I always look for new ways and ideas to improve my car be it in handling or power improvement....to me the result whether improve 0.5whp or 2-3c different in intake temp or coolant temp...IS improvements....YES, some will say "so little do for what? sohigh ah?....0.5 can't feel also...waste time to do....to me, if there's improvement means the thing works...don't just look at the result or do something just want to have benefit.....look at DIY as a way to let you know more about your car other than "I do this, it better perform." Why most people feel disappointed with little improvement is because all put very high hope on it....and use the time spent to weight the benefits....but sorry I don't do like that.....even if I spent 5 hours DIY a single thing but the improvement is little I also happy with it....

Don't think too much or have too much high hope that .."Oh..I do this, it better increase 10hp...." Just enjoy the process of DIY and put the result in 2nd place. Even if what you did didn't work at least you have tried and when people talk about it....you can say "been there, done that"....That's the difference of being the leader and the follower....

My humble advice to all gaga members, if you have something in your head want to DIY just go ahead....don't think too much and doubt this and that.....fail or success you won't die.....you fall down, you stand back up...
