Well, it depends on what portrait you wanna do. Headshot? half body? full body? or perhaps portrait using wide-angle?
Looking at ur signature, u're using a d5200, 1.5x crop sensor.
For me, i'd recommend you getting a 35mm 1.8G (around rm740). It's a sharp lens, works well outdoors, works even well indoors.
50mm for a crop body dont really work indoors, simply because there's not much space for you to step a few step back.
you can try it using ur kit lens. try shooting whole day with the zoom lens at 50mm, and another day try with it at 35mm, and ask yourself which suits u the best?
well if you're trying to go for outdoor portraits only, the 50mm and 85mm works well.
for versatility, 35mm is good.
btw 50mm 1.4G costs around 1300 (nt sure), sigma 50mm 1.4 EX also 1300.
checkout these photos shot using 35mm and 50mm
for me, i owned both of them together last time, bought the 50mm first, then after 3 months, i gt the 35mm, and tried both. decided to let go 50mm cz of the focal length.
35mm 1.8G

I just checked thru using my kitlens a 50mm and 35mm. From my point of view lah, not much difference. Maybe because I'm not yet exposed to such limited space where a 35mm may come in handy instead of 50mm.

I noticed our local cosplayers are not as attractive or real-like as compared to those from overseas

Is it because of our darker skin colour?
