QUOTE(Lefty @ Dec 5 2006, 02:25 PM) now i had send the female to heaven. cause she look like she cant make it anymore to live more longer. I cannot believe that no one is going to say something. Not into breeding and just let them for fun? While breeding, the male has the risk of fin torn, energy exhaustion and probably die... Or may be that is your definition of fun. can sifu tell me the criteria of healthy female HMPK or PK also can . i not into breeding. just 1 my cute handsome CT had some fun making love. Sorry, I am upset. You threw the female in to experiment and now you want to kill her. How sick... Please read articles about breeding before you start again. |

Question: I bought two HM last few weeks. They are still very active now but they do not seem to flare when I let them see each other. They have no illness and hyper active during feeding. I just wonder how should I encourage them to flare? I let them see the female but they seem not too interested. I also added in black water extract.
Thanks in advance. This post has been edited by freshyyf: Dec 15 2006, 01:26 PM |

Sifus, wanna ask a question. How to distinguish red wash and natural red color? I got a bi color betta - red and blue. So, in that case, he would not have red wash since his natural color is red? Same case, Cambodian or extended red betta has no red wash? Appreciate any explanation.
When do they show red wash? I heard that they only show at old age. How to prevent? Food can help? |

QUOTE(evildonkey @ Jan 30 2007, 12:26 PM) I got stock rite now but it's hmpk...my hm spawn is only 3 weeks old currently so it'll take at least 2 more months to see results. Yea i went there once but he sold out his stock so can't relli tell how good are they. Inconsistent in quality or their stock don't arrive consistently? Inconsistent - Some bettas that he sells are very good and compatible with the price. Sometimes he sells RM50+ for a betta but I don't see any special feature. May be I am not a good judge. Also, I really don't know how to judge if he is selling red-wash betta or red-pattern bettas. I normally buy the good finnage, regardless the red-wash.By the way, Evildonkey, what strain of HM are you breeding? Can I ask one question: I bought one betta with transparent+color fin. The transparent part just getting rot and drop off This post has been edited by freshyyf: Jan 30 2007, 05:29 PM |

Did not put salt but put dechlorinator and black water extract. Feed them with BettaPro - granules which do not foul the water. This post has been edited by freshyyf: Jan 31 2007, 08:23 AM |

QUOTE(ChelseaFan @ Feb 6 2007, 09:19 AM) I have tried quite a lot of times. Plakat is OK but it ate my neon fish at night. Halfmoon is NO NO... Its fin were all torn apart. I am not sure if it is due to fighting or being bullied. For your information, my community tank consists of neon, clown loach, sterbai coridoras and some small river prawns.I am now keeping all my betta separately. They will reward you by more stunning fin. But I think it is still Ok to keep them with corydoras. |

QUOTE(Foxngn @ Feb 23 2007, 12:08 AM) Better not. One time, I forgot to take out the Ketapang leaves. It stayed there for 4 days, the leaves deteriorated and my betta died. So, advise you to use the new one each time. Actually, no need to add the whole leaf, half or 1/3 still do the job. |

QUOTE(Foxngn @ Feb 25 2007, 10:26 PM) Actually i was thinkin this, maybe the leaf that i found was not ketapang leaf, its just some of the leaf which was similar to it...or maybe the leaf was not old enough to use, this there anything like this to happen ? Dun want to waste money buy the magical leaf product. Buy the black water extract, cost around RM 10 for a small bottle, save you a lot of hassle.Yes, if they are not old enough, it will very hard to turn the water brownish. Choose those crunchy old leaves. Hi Novo, whereabout in Ipoh? I have no luck finding daphnia (Meglemblu got on lfs but too far) or others in Ipoh. Appreciate if you let me know where I can get the live feed. Hi guys, Happy Chinese New Year. Just want to tell you my experience of "fin operation". I found out my HM betta finrotting, so I treat it with yellow powder but it got worse. Searched the net and many suggested to cut the rotted fin and let it grows back, which I did with horror!!!
It was absolutely a hard job since I did not have anaesthetic. It kept moving but I managed to cut the rotted fin. When I put him back, he was so stressed and almost colour fading. I thought he was going to die soon. But then, he is active by tomorrow and flare perfectly aggresive as before. Now, it looks a bit like HM plakat, very funny. My advice is to anyone who wants to perform this operation, make sure your fish can withstand the stress. Fortunate that mine one is a warrior. By the way, anyone try that before? How long the fin will grow back to reasonable length? This post has been edited by freshyyf: Mar 1 2007, 05:19 PM |

News for Ipoh guys: The LFS near Wolley foodcourt, they have 6-8 Extended Red HM. I just bought one myself yesterday, crazy finnage with 180 degree, only cost RM 25 each. It is fast selling. I was quick to buy the 2nd best one. Just one day late, the best one was gone already. Should be sold out this weekend, I guess.
