My RM25 Extended Red HM, it can spread to 180 degree at top form. Super aggressive:

Extened Red from Bobby. Cute little guy, only several months old.

Used to be HM but now super delta. His finnage is just too too big and burden for him. Really nice when fully flare.

user posted image

You would not believe this is HM. Haha... This is the HM that got finrot and I cut off his fin. Now, the fin is growing back. Super active. Fiercest among the all, flare at ANYTHING, even food.

I got another similar to RM25 one, which died last month when I breeded it. The female shreded all his fin. I was so sad. That is my first extended red and its fin is FAR bigger than this RM25 one, can you imagine that? His fin size is more than his body size, he got difficulty in swimming due to the large fin. When it flared, that is a scene!!! So sad, I miss it....

Nice one. Just wondering about your tank. Is it a nano planted tank? With filter/carbon dioxide cylinder? How often you change water? Easy to handle the plant keeping? I am thinking of making a tank like yours.

What cause the cloudy eyes of betta? I just bought female betta but later found out that her eyes are cloudy with white color. Any remedy?

Try to breed again. I also failed at the fries stage twice. Now, I will try to use the BettaPro, quite expensive. It claims that the fries will be attracted by the dried powder form of food.

What's that blue coloured water that some bettas are contained in? I saw them in an LFS.

Methlyn Blue. That is for white spot disease.

My house are full of bettas now! But yewlin's poison is getting effect. How is your CT look like? Any pictures?

Just wanna ask all the masters here. Have you have the experience of your bettas getting fiercer and fiercer? Well, I got one red HM, bought when it was 3-month old, seldom flare and quite lazy also. When it grows larger (3 months later), it becomes hyperactive for flaring. Flare when I put food, flare at my finger.... When I let him see his neighbour betta, he even hit the glass with 'hearable' sound. I guess he must be a good fighter then.

Just some update about the fin cutting. Last time, I had two bettas suffering from fin rot. I cut their rotted fin after the medicine got no effect to cure them. Yup, cut it real short until they looked like plakat tongue.gif Now, their fin are growing back to normal, one is even more shinning.

anyone have any experience with mixing betta with neon tetras, harlequin resboras, otos and corydoras? i am confident that these fishes will not harass the betta. but im not sure about the other way around. fishes will long fins/tails and other labyrinths i know definitely no-no (guppies, gouramis, etc) but what about peaceful shortfins?
*
Last time, I kept my betta with neon tetras but later I found out that the neon tetras were getting less and less. One late night, I used my torch light to shinned at them. I found out the betta actually attacked the sleeping tetras. So, I never keep them together anymore. But corydoras is ok for them, I tried before also.

Yew Lin or other masters here, I got hundreds of tiny fries (3 days) now. I fed them Atison Betta Starter for fry (powder form) but don't know if they are eating. From my experience, they are going to die in one-week. Don't see any LFS selling brine shrimp egg or microworm.... Any advice? This is the third time I spawn, failed twice, fry die after a week.

The Atison Betta Starter for fry is supposed to design for fry. But the problem is that after a day, the water smell bad. And also, I don't know if they were eating. I springled the powder, the fry were still motionless sad.gif Anyone try this product before? Successful?

Atison Betta starter website:

http://www.oceannutrition.com/product_fres...05.html&head=42

Check this out (The inventor's comment):

http://www.atisonbetta.com/breeding2.asp

......I have developed, together with Ocean Nutrition, a special starter food to give to the fry which is called Atison's Betta Starter. The best is to feed them a very small quantity each time, twice a day. Avoid using live feed as this can contaminate the fry. In any case, the best is to use the starter feed as first food and abstain completely from live food: the starter food has everything the fry needs to grow. Do not mix live food and the starter food, as this will confuse the newborn fry.

Where did you get the Atison Betta Starter? Trust me I'm having problems raising a bunch of successful fry too!

Took me tons of research!
*
I got it from Aquafair last year. I will let you know if it is good to use after a week. So, what are you using to feed your fry?

btw, usually fin rot could it be cure by just adding ketapang leaf & add some salt ?
how long will it takes to recover ?
*
Alternatively, you can use 'yellow medicine powder'. Quite effective too. For hole in the fin, normally one or two day will recover. For fin rot, may take longer. If it really cannot be cured, then cut off their fin to let them grow back, I tried before.

Oh..I'm afraid to cut it myself ler, scare 1 mistake cut the fish died.
I only got the Ocean free general aid special yellow medicine, which stated to cured fin rot & others disease, does this help effectively? currently im just using ketapang leaf only.
*
I think that is the one. Cut only when rotting is worst, or else your fish will die.

Oic, then there's isn't any side-effect if i use the medicine while my tank still got the ketapang leaf effect, right?
*
Better don't. Use yellow powder method or ketapang method.

Just wanna share the pictures of my collection. They may not be show grade but they look pretty to me. I like each of them very much. Indeed, I have 15 now, some not yet have pictures. They have their own character, some superactive, some shy..... Recently, get into crowntail too.

My butterfly HM. The first one is blue butterfly. The second I think it is copper with red wash? Not too sure because I bought it with RM 10 only from LFS. His fin is shinning!!!!
user posted imageuser posted image

Marble Fancy and White Double Tail. If you look carefully, the Marble Fancy is the one that I have 'operated' on his fin. Took about months to recover back. Fortunately, still look good to me but of course not show grade. The White Double Tail is just gorgeous. A big full circle at his top form. A bit of shy too.
user posted imageuser posted image

Finally, my dearest red HM. Absolutely smart and active fish. They flare at me when I approach because they know I will give them food. I can handfeed them now, they even fight with my finger.
user posted imageuser posted image

I hope these pictures give motivation to beginner... I have started to learn breeding but failed three times due to lack of suitable food for fry. So sad.

Hi Bro,

i would like to test also but ter-salah kira...end up i don't have any to test  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif ...base on the supplier claim that can last for 1-2 years. So still got plenty of time to keep in. smile.gif

Btw ur using tap water to hatch it right? did you put any anti-clorin ?
*
You mean you don't reserve one for yourself? Sorry to hear that.

I just used the filter water, no other additives. They hatched in a day. And according to instruction, I can hatch 3 times using the same batch. Trying the 2nd hatch, ok so far.

Guess what, thousands of my fry died but 1 lucky fellow is still alive. So, I hope this BFS can save him.

the fry died is due to no food or BFS?  hmm.gif

Before your BFS arrived, I already had a large batch of fry for a week. Then all died, one still survive. So, hope this fellow can survive with BFS as fresh food.

Have a question here. How you define Rosetail? Better tail type?

How many of you like your betta to have rosetail?
