i'm beginning to doubt whether you're actually serious about breeding them or just want to "experiment".

No they won't be lonely when u put 2 bettas side by side and let them flare with each other. Letting 2 bettas fight one another isn't fun but cruel. I suggest you get yourself some guppies if you wan your fishes to get intimate with one another. Bettas are meant to be kept alone unless your rearing them in a 2ft tank with plenty of places to hide then you'll be able to let your bettas have "fun" but still you'll see them with torn fins as they'll fight one another when they meet

Errr dude you don't just dump the female in like that, you need to condition the pair first before you can start breeding. You need to make them healthy enough to go through the strainous process of breeding as the male won't be taking any food for a few days. Besides, you should consider looking for signs that they are ready to breed before you just dump them in. Once the male has built a massive bubble nest and the female is flaring like crazy showing vertical stripes, the pair is ready. I doubt your pair of betta will be ready for your current attempt since i dun think you condition them. At this rate you'll be killing every single female you're getting and the male will k.o pretty soon too.

let me sort thing out cause some ppl tot i am cruel and having fun with seeing two betta fighting.

my setting:1)2ft tank with plenty of water grass and water plant with good filter
2)sand as the te bottom layer of tank
3) around 10 tetra neon
4) with few decorative rock , vase and more
5) 1 CT male betta.
6) 1 female betta ( those cheap type that ppl use to feed big fishes)

att first just the tank and neon and water plant . then i drop in my CT betta. he pretty happy out there. then i 1 to let my CT have more fun so i put in female betta. hope they will breed or just play around.

bro, dont try tat, if ur betta is big enug then it wil eat ur guppies fries, i experienced tat b4 sweat.gif and betta not nice to mix with guppies.
bro lefty: u can keep ur male betta with the neon of vice versa. but if u wan to breed them, then better seperate out the female, and later when u nottice tat ur female is about to breed, then take them out to a seperated tank....the details u can refer to malaysia betta society website: http://www.topbb.com/forum/index.php?mforum=bsm , u can find me over there too. sorry if i made u misunderstood the word "fun" i put in my previous post. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Psst psst, got my fish from Yewlin in Nov. I realize that the tail is slowly splitting. Any help? My tank is a filtered tank and every 3-4 days I will change 15% of the water. I threw a bit of ketapang leave only because I do not want my tank to be brownish in colour. Added about 5ml of salt but still slowly splitting. The ends of the tail do not tear, just that i can see the tail splitted.

hi weesin,

base on ur avater i can't see the splitting there maybe u can post more closer snap smile.gif. It might be fin rot...which is normal for me. Just make sure u change water every 2 days is okay already with anti-clorin plus salt. smile.gif

There are no splitting in this picture because it was taken before the split happen. This is just a ST HM BF. not DT or CT so shouldnt have splits. Maybe it is fin rots. Tried the salt but really dunno how much I need to put. Later put too much my fish KO.

I will try to get a snap on the splits and put it up soon.
