Rin'negan literally means Metempsychosis eye. According to wiki, Metempsychosis is a philosophical term in the Greek language referring to the belief of transmigration of the soul, especially its reincarnation after death. That might explain the body switching part slightly.

From the looks of things, Yahiko is dead, and that short haired blonde body that Nagato was using before he changed to the artistic bomb guy is Yahiko's body. But I'm just speculating.

Remember the part where he said "i'm switching this body to kill the intruder". Maybe he didn't wanto use Yahiko which is his buddy's body to do the dirty job / risk getting hurt or spoiled / confront his old sensei?

Don't make sense to why he need to do that...probably switched body for upper hand maybe more advantage in that body.

And the 4th should be younger than nagato and co. since that time jiraiya was still grouped with tsunade and orochimaru as students while he taught the 4th when he has his own team.
