okay, let say that u already 1 year with ur company and ur salary is RM 1.7k.
and then 1 new employee just join from other company with 1 year experience (same like u) and have same position like u but he get RM 2.2k salary...hmm..

my question is can we ask for an increase in our salary so we also get around RM 2.2k?is it acceptable?or we cant do nothing about this?

this happen in my new company.. biggrin.gif

Hmmm, is there such thing as he graduated from a more prestigious uni with a better class? Or his performance in that 1 year was way ahead of the other?

Yeah, it is normal to have this type situation, where the salary of

newly joined experienced person > same experience person

This is the reason why so many people are hopping around. If the new company offers the same or even less salary, there won't be so many people hopping around.

For my company, there will be marketing adjustment after several years in order to mark up the basic salary for experienced people since their entry level salaries were lower than the current fresh entries.

if u really, really wanna know why, then ask around about his qualification, experience, special skill, achievement and position in previous company then compare with, lets say, 'you'.

there always a valid reason. nepotism could be one..heheh rolleyes.gif

If your friend is good enough, i think he can ask for the increment as well.

I guess some company's are willing to do this when they are profiting.
Eg getting more project etc

They should do an adjustment in order to mark up the basic salary for experienced people since their entry level salaries were lower than the current fresh entries like szeping mentioned.

If not they would have a possibility of loosing the existing employers.

but that's just my opinion anyway.
