It's nothing, really. Just abit annoying sometimes. Any car with CVT gearbox usually has this problem, it's just a matter of how obvious it is.

For example, a friend of mine has a 2005 honda city with a CVT gearbox, it too has the same jerking effect although it isn't as obvious  smile.gif
*
test drive the Inspira and it doesnt have such jerking effect. Test drive the Forester and XV too, and it doesn't have such jerking effect.

That is due to the different system used in the CVT system. Proton (PUNCH) CVT is using clutch system while the rest of the competition now is using torque converter system. THe PUNCH CVT system is essentially a transmission with an automated (robotic) clutch. The clutch is computer controlled instead of human and being a computer, the clutch engaging/disengaging takes a bit more time than normal human does and hence the jerking at low speed.

Hi guys,

I was wondering what is the common problems that may or may not exist for Exora Bold manufactured year 2012?

Was looking at one second hand unit and quite gatal. tongue.gif

check the wheel camber. Some preve also face the issue same like yours, premature tire wear.

Try not do that, and notice if your CVT will act funny or not. My experience after doing that, reverse and uphill CVT lost power, need to press accelerator to higher RPM for CVT to engage. After a while, the good feeling comes back. I dare not shift to free gear while downhill, and engage to D again, after that. I remember in one of the Q&A with Punch CVT, this action is not recommended, but they didn't say why...
*
The CVT has a engine driven pump that circulates the fluid to and from the oil cooler. Pushing the lever to N stops the pump operation and the fluid is no longer cooled by the oil cooler. And when the oil is not cooled properly, chances of burning the clutch is higher.

The lost power effect could be the CVT goes into temporary safe mode, to prevent the clutch from being burnt.

That is why, dont treat the CVT like normal AT. Instead, have to make some adjustment to it. Those kes of kereta tabuli naik bukit is also related with safe mode kicking in to prevent clutch being burnt.

if i recall well, the pump will not run. the oil is just flowing to and from the oil cooler at its own pace.

that aside, in conclusion, putting in N and roll downhill is a big no-no.

Mine's the premium with the turbo emblem and I didn't get the GPS unit. Instead I got a Yes 4G Huddle with free 2GB per month (for 1 year). More worth it imo biggrin.gif

Then take an empty plastic container, put a fist sized stone in and pour the content in the container and close the lid.

poke a few holes on the lid and put it under your car.

our CVT is steel belt... not rubber belt. so the burning rubber belt isn't applicable.

Proton Punch CVT has clutch and steel belt.  Albeit no burnt rubber, but if you do what you should not, the CVT life also will be shortened: overload, drive too slow, stopping uphill, how to start the vehicle uphill etc...
*
So, if there is a congestion on a uphill slope, are you suggesting we should straight away plow through the standstill cars with out mighty exora bold since we can't stop on uphill? laugh.gif

I had a scare as well coz a few days back, had to go up this basement parking. it wasn't a rolling start and the slope was steep (about 30-40º). can feel the Exora was struggling even at low gear...
*
erm... slot into L, then tarik handbrake. Then build up some rev and at the same time release the handbrake. Its like you are balancing the clutch on a steep hill on a slope in a manual transmission car.

normally how i attack those uphill is by pressing more gas before the front wheel starts touching the upwards incline.

but then, 40º is really very steep... sweat.gif

Ya, even the punch engineer kristof said when going downhill like getting highlands... Putting into L will help reduce brake stress since the engine braking is much harder and the 'bite' is 'harsher'.
