hello everyone! here's a few questions

1) I'm a D license holder (without P. I'm 26 already) and would like to take a B2 license for motorbikes. Do i have to take any theory and test again? How much would it be if i take my B2 now? is it a one day process?

2) I'm recently into naked bikes and found that there's a few 250cc bikes that is DAMN INTERESTING. Any recommendation? My budget is below 10k if possible. (plus minus around there)

3) I've shortlisted a few. Any comments on the bikes below/other recommendation? Here's a few i'll list down.
a) megelli 250sr
b) YSM T2
c) Demak DZM 200
d) Keeway RKV200g
e) Nimota CK9

4) Last question. I'm quite noob la in bikes so i was just wondering what determines the tyre width size? Big tyre bikes looks cool tho!

The reasons I will be getting a bike will be more like a weekend drive or "night drive a.k.a yumcha" only. No daily use intended.

why no consider KTM duke 200

looks very good with that 170 tyre and coupled with that front upside down telescopic fork, handling not bad

and KTM is quite reliable...

NEVER BUY megelli unless u're seeking for trouble

SYM T2 is too expensive for what they offer on the bike

regarding your license you dont need to take the test but you have to attend the boring class for your bike L license, after you get your L, you need to wait 1 month in order to take the test

wait a while for naza to rebadge the hyosung exiv 250 and see what price tag they put.. their prices are always competitive

yea duke 200 should be in my list too. in terms of performance/maintenance and resell value, is duke better than hyosung? in ur opinion is it worth waiting?

they announced it in india and say its to rival duke 200 biggrin.gif with better power output and cheaper pricing... well that was in india.. malaysia dont know yet.. but since Naza decided to CKD the bike, it will be cheap for sure rclxms.gif duke resale value is better than hyosung.... quality also should be better hmm.gif

basically what hyosung offer is almost the same with duke but with a cheaper price, the trade off is resale and QC issue laugh.gif

that bike actually looks pretty awesome. but the small little exhaust being at the bottom?? thats a bit weird hahaha.....
damn i wonder when naza will have this in malaysia. anyway how much would a 170tyre cost? basically just changing of tyre no upgrade of rims needed right?

yep stock rims on ktm 200 can hold 170 tyres... that little exhaust at the btm been adopted by alot of bike.. even the infamous ducati 1199 haha ... by reducing the length of exhaust system bike can be lighter ... and some mechanical advantage i dont understand tongue.gif something about lower bike so better geometry

the new rebadge hyosung should be coming soon someone went to naza factory and saw the parts

Join the fb group for the respective bike below & read through their pages. that might help you (a lot) in choosing the bike.

DZM 200
Nimota CK9
RKV 200
DUKE 200

each of these bikes have their own minor/tiny problems, being a cheap 200cc bike (below 10K)
I would recommend DZM 200 because i'm getting one. tongue.gif

I haven't own the bike personally yet so cannot comment much. but based from the group page, the gear can be a little bit hard to downshift to N when stopping but this gets better over time so not much concern here & the bike is not that fast (this bike is not for speeding anyway).
other than that, nothing much to worry about.

anyway, each of the group got pinned post IINM. you can read them to get the general ideas.

i have joined dzm 200 fb group for about a month now...
it is hard for me to believe that new model has ZERO problems...not even minor one...

been aiming for dzm 200 for about a month now, waiting for 2nd batch to come out, as i asked reliable shops in penang which only sell china bikes like demak and kee way...

their manager comment about first batch of dzm 200 is that the screw of the engine easily comes off, even change new screw still easily loosen.. shocking.gif

but tracking fb dzm 200 group, none reported any problem of such...which makes me rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

The DZM 200 is a copy of the UM Xstreet 200
http://umglobal.com/en/index.php/sport/xtreet_2014

The Nimota CK9 is a copy of the Yamaha FZ16
http://www.yamaha-motor-india.com/product/fz16/index.html

Not sure if the copies have the same performance spec of the originals though. Then again, they may be licensed to do reproductions of the originals.

u can get 2nd duke 200 for around that price

last time i saw duke 200 with full powerpart + akrapovic exhaust for RM15k, quite a bargain (for me). i think cost of modified alone i think around RM10k (i think)

not sure bout tyre, i thought duke 200 max is 160 hmm.gif

Hi TS, I'm in the same exact position as you suddenly into bikes and around your age. I was considering a lower cc version though like Fz150. Later on only upgrade once pro already haha

megelli is having a hard time reaching 140.. also they are very troublesome. very bad QC issue, parts are hard to find too... basically nothing good except design

when you think power is not important, sometimes situational acceleration can save your life wjen riding a bike..

ive been in a situation where i need to get myself out of danger but my bike simply just dont have enuf power lol

i think megelli is frauding about their power output and the speedo isnt accurate

sorry i have to correct myself about the duke part.. the duke 200 non abs is using 150 mrf tyre as stock.. not sure the 170 js which version... that mrf tyre handles quite good at dry road...

Avoid Megelli its China Made, the quality is sub par compare Jap or Continental brand. Taiwanese made still can be trusted.

You can google the Megelli quality, most of our neighboring country bikers complained about the bike already.

and by the way if u are going/will buy duke 200, that bike aint fast, acceptable top but great torque, LC135 or maybe modded kriss can tapau u already (top) haha

it's a fun bike, not for speed. go for maybe z250 if u want for speed (i think so)

but z250 is quite expensive (i personally think not worth it if buy with loan. interest damn high!) actually im just looking for a fun ride...not really looking for topspeed. So eventho a second hand bike would do actually ! just that it would be good if something looks cool heheeee.

After all the sifu commented, my choice would be DZM200, duke200, sym t2? nimota ck9? ahhh confusing...rclxub.gif

anyway whats the factor should i consider when changing to bigger tyres? rim?

Z250 also not fast.
The cheapest is nimota. Quite reliable since it's been here for more than a year already. Extra money save can spend to mod the bike to look supercool.

Will tell you my initial impression on dzm200 once i get my hand on it this weekend.

I suggest since you're taking your test you might as well do it right and get B full license straight away. Bikers always wanted to upgrade their bike.

I'm selling my 650cc naza blade and if you're only looking to ride for yumchar it looks real cool... PM me for details as I'm probably selling very cheap and probably better than buying just 200cc

seeing ur budget now, u can't afford sym t2, duke 200, cbr 250 n ninja 250 or maybe even naza blade (comparing to all brand new)..u only left with choices of unbranded bike like demak, keeway n nimota.

all these unbranded bike might have problems with sparepart availability (some said damn easy to find n all..even suzuki bike sparepart is hard to find, so use common sense n think), sparepart price is relatively higher, reliability (those major brands like yamaha n honda even have reliability problem at certain bike so what bout those unbranded bike, so think again).

brand new vs second hand - brand new is definitely better generally but still depending what r u comparing with..2nd hand is always gambling(u might get lemon unit n u can't blame nobody but urself)

spare part price to share with you on general parts i would rate...Naza Blade (highest cost), Duke 200, Sym T2, Cbr 250 and Ninja 250( lowest cost)

when i said spare part price..what i really mean is comparing spare part price vs the price of the bike..but generally that what i would rate

If you need to get B2 license, might as well straight away go for B license.
Any previous experience with motorcycle at all?

Tak salah bro, but riding 300cc with B2 is wrong in Malaysia. brows.gif brows.gif

250cc 60hp no problem with B2, but 600cc 50hp you cant ride with B2 licence.

Better save money and buy used one,or pay more deposit and loan for 1-2 year.

What's not worth it is you going back another day to finally get the B license.
I got mine for around RM500, years ago in Penang. Don't know how much is it now, and in your area.
Consider it, if the price difference is not much, you should go for B rather than B2.

agree with xecton... just go straight to B Full... even i myself took straight B Full way back in 97/98....and all the bikes ive ever owned are all kapchais... but then i dont have to worry about upgrading bikes in the future (like i plan to do end of this year)......it just makes life easier
