That's why we can't have good things...
i think that if there isn't a official afa here we can have a bootleg version of it or just go to other place where there is that event..
things not gonna change in the short term

1. I actually didn't really care about this event just to buy real anime products/goods. Isn't the event supposedly be an open event for free circles (doujinka, etc) out there and not just the acg goods?

2. If there were stores selling original acg goods here in malaysia, these events means nothing to me. Real hikkies do not need those meaningless events after all...

1. AFA brings in the people/company that produce anime related stuff and you does not care about people who created those stuff that you watch?? doujin are not the main focus of AFA ... there's is already other event for doujin and stuff.

2. the availability of original stuff is good point i think...plenty of malaysian has the purchasing power and i have know quite a few people that is willing to spend on it ... i think the organizer saw the potential in the market here too.. that's why Philippines and Thailand have big anime fanbase and they didnt get AFA yet and we are lucky to have it once...

You misunderstood my first point.
By acg goods I mean those figurines, nendoroids, plushies, posters, which I don't really care. Of course I do care about the things I like. I purchase original goods for the past years (no, not the effing bootlegs). I got my manga and LN from Kino and I got my cd/dvds through tsuuhan.

Besides Bushiroad, I have never encountered any real anime or manga company/house such as Aniplex, Animate, Shueisha, Kodansha, Dengeki, etc.
And if you are talking about Animangaki and CF... ugh... those are even worst. Most local circles there macam syok sendiri.

See? You totally missed my point there.
The event and the organizers itself is fine but the people there? Let's talk about last CF and Animangaki. Almost 70% of the booth there were filled with that certain rampaging giant-related stuff. Yes, being a doujin circle it is fine to make your own theme whatsoever but to expect people having interest in those similar looking booths is the problem with most of these events. No wonder those vendors have no further interest in any ACG events here in Malaysia.

Trash talk? That is an honest opinion of mine. I am really sorry if I am being too rude.

This opinion is very constructive and definitely helps to improve the quality of events in the future.

^thanks for last year's event! looking fwd for this year

btw I agree with most of the comments against AFAMY 2014 though, but anyhow will be good to see it happen this year.

guess the local community will grab the chance to prove their dedication by attending Singapore's this year and show them organizers that they are more than willing to spend and also help push the event to a success!

I have giving up on most thing to happen in local scene,

But in this particular matters i would agree that there's a majority of malaysian fans are and still pathetic on the eyes of vendors due to their unwilling to change their ways from bootlegs even if the quality is miserable.

Not to say anything as well

because all the stuff i can ship myself will be cheaper and faster than getting at retails except for few limited edition goodies.

As long as those 2 reasons exists, I guess we won't have AFA for a really long time... orz

Found out about the first reason, I felt guilty I couldn't buy any more merchandise as I planned to because it was crowded & I didn't pay enough attention to the friendly staffs at the ticket counter. Due to my misunderstanding, I thought my VIP tickets (that won the autographs sessions) were lost so I used all my saved up money to buy merchandise to buy another VIP tickets. ;_____; When I found out the concert ticket is also use for concert entrance (There were a lot of the entrance ticket bands, I thought 2 of them were THE concert tickets because I lost 2 of the bands, I was panicking & quickly queue to buy another VIP tickets) I was facepalming so hard & felt the worst. (I gave the new VIP tickets to my older sister that day because I couldn't resell them) My sister was really upset & can't believe I made the most stupidest & expensive mistakes in my life. orz

It was my first time at AFA & I was more nervous than ever. I guess I never been to a very large crowd of people. (I was shy & not use to crowded places... orz )

My 2 cent POV , instead just focus on figurines, nendoroids, plushies, posters and etc. the Normal Stuff. Why not Target the audience that have purchasing power (working young adult) include like include rows of Food and Beverage vendor like Aeon & Isetan or sourced from Japan , Clothing like Uniqlo, Travel and Tour that cater to group that want to visit Japan with tailor made tour package or homestay program @ Airline ticket to Japan or JR card , Japanese Telco booth where you rent out handphone or mobile WIFI and most important part allowing the vendor to use Credit/ Debit card terminal (Tired of carrying heap of cash around) . Extra point if I can use my J card too

^ like that we will end up with culturejapan. Danny Choo haters gonna hate.

We should ask ourselves: why should we give a f4rk about animax event? Do we even need SPE networks asia to tell us to enjoy anime? Is it fun to be in an event filled with sweaty otakus? What will happen if a hot twintail maid exists in 3D world? Can anime merchandise be cheaper? Is Malaysia even considered as viable anime market? Is it really THAT difficult to go to Singapore? Why poorfags even watch anime if they cant afford to purchase things in Japanese yen? Why Unifi no anime channel? Can Malaysians do 2D animation on par with Kyoani? Do we REALLY understand Japanese language? How to kill Doraemon? Why do people like to watch inferior western animation? Besides KLCC, is there any large indoor venue with easy public transport access available in KL? What do normal people think of anime?

HMM the only original thing i purchase before is bandai gundam ><

myself think not many fan here can different between real genuine product vs bootleg since most of them only display them at corner. (i got fren who gila such original thing too which i think his figure can easy hit thousand per unit)

If AFA is all about business, there should try different way of doing business here.
(introduce more price friendly genuine product as starting point instead of bring in the exclusive one that only few can afford)
