according to a veteran user i know of in G2C, he says that outside air seeping into the Gen2 interior is common... The vent cannot closes well.

And, I'm interested at the Waja airbox too, anyone got cheaper sourcing ahz?? interested leh.

hi guys, hope you dont mind me joining in also, just got my car 2 months back and it's been eating up my pocket eversince sad.gif wanna ask you guys out there is it normal for the KM left meter to suddenly drop very rapidly after below 100? because like when at 70, every 100m the thing drop 1km! my last service (5000km) I sent and the Proton guy said the float got something wrong? say only, then never fix... ask to fix, keep quiet...

I'm not into cars a lot, but this K&N air filter and snorkel idea sounds interesting and afforadable, might try it out at the end of this month, start finding from the Sunway auto garage area, hopefully SpeedD got since I get my bike engine oil from there too.

oh ya, what's the use of nitrogen in the tyre?

welcome here, Andy... anyone with a Gen2 is welcome to participate in this thread.

On your encounter of the fuel problem, I do not have such experience but then, since ur car is only 2 months old, do bring it to another SC and check it out. It neva harms to get a second opinion. Watz ur FC?

yeap... the K&N filter does filter particles yet do not have those restriction a normal filter does. Therefore, ur engine breath better with the additional intake of air.

Nitroget gas module are bigger and lighter than our conventional "normal air" module, therefore, using nitrogen in the tyre provides quite a number of benefits:

1) The tyres are light therefore saves in FC.
2) Nitrogen do not build up heat as fast as the "normal air". Tyres with nitrogen will not get heat up after travelling long distance, and this provides a much safer ride.
3) As mentioned, the Nitrogen module is bigger, u do not need to refill your air so often saving time.

the above are just part of the benefits of using nitrogen and i blip there's more.

cheers.

thanks shackk! i know this is a pretty damn n00b question, but don't we want the tyres to heat up? you know, for grip.. well, anything with saving FC sounds like a plan to me, my current FC now RM70 for about 360km (eventhough the KM left meter shows 460 after pump) so what the heck, I'm off to go get me some nitrogen tyres during lunch laugh.gif

oh ya, forgot to mention, I'm using 1.6 auto highline. just checked the snorkel, yep it's pretty darn small! not that I don't like the car but, sometimes even when I floor the pedal to overtake also the DOHC effect dont kick in, end up kena horn by a Kelisa... sweat.gif

well,
count urself lucky that u're able to get more than that... I'm getting only 315km now for RM72.00.

Yeap, u're rite that we need to heat up the tyre to a certain degree so that the tyre can perform at it best. However, after a long distance of travelling, the tyre can heat up to a dangerous level where it can bust.

You must be driving using "D" only, rite?? If u need to, try downshifting to either "3" or "2" then only you'll feel the kick. Try driving your car from 0km/h using gear "2" then shift upwards accordingly... Then' u'll love ur car more... wink.gif

no need for any special procedure... just release the nitrogen then replace with ordinary air...

Wah! that's even worse! don't you feel a bit burdened by this? I mean that's not cheap oo, considering my situation also is a killer when I compare with my dad's car getting more mileage. Erm, no, actually I've been driving using L, 2 and 3 since day 1, I tell ya if I had the choice I'd take manual anytime but.........

Thanks for the nitro tip smile.gif

well, i've got used to it now... I see more on performance rather than crawling like a tortoise just to conserve a few drops of extra petrol, u know wat i mean... Coz by fact, our car's a fuel guzzler and unless u have a transplant of other engine, there's no way u can change the fact. biggrin.gif

True true... From experience, my gasoline can last around 4-5 days based on normal driving speed (i.e. not like tortoise!)... But still oklah, at least can last more than half the week...

OKey... if u wanna the auto transmission 2 react faster.. try the waja campro air box.. response is definately faster.. no need 2 wait a second or 2 for the response..

i donno how 2 say this.. but if u get me then it's good larhh.. tongue.gif my fren who works as a service attendance in service centre told me tat the air intake for waja campro goes only 1 cycle for the air into the engine while our gen 2 and neo need to do 2 cycles in order for the air to go to the engine.. i guess k&n drop in for gen2 and waja campro air box really need 2 make up your mind.. biggrin.gif
hope u get wat i'm saying...

btw.. haf u guys (without ABS) try 2 hit the brake to the max and got the tires locked? i mean do they lock?

If you mean other car than Gen2 I tried before lah, yes it does lock and yes the car does skid out of control biggrin.gif

Ok, will look for the 3 things and if I can find it and install it I'll let you guys know how it affects the overall driving performance

40km/h I think no ABS activated kua, in my experience I tried hard braking (Gen2) from 105km/h like that and I can hear some sound like "gang gang gang" damn loud and the car doesn't skid. But at 50km/h I did the same thing and the sound don't have but the car don't skid.

Could just be me though, but I was driving that Iswara once and another time in my friend's Sunny, both times about 70km/h only but the feeling is so scary, with the tyre screeching and skid effect sweat.gif
