Currently using Ikea Detolf(s) which retails for about RM170 IIRC. Got mine during sale, went for RM120 IIRC.

The Detolf(s) themselves have gaps between the glass panels, so what i did was purchase those transparent 'door gap eliminator' sold at Daiso and attach them to the panels. It does not fully eliminate dust entry, but it does significantly reduce dust collection, so much so i only clean the insides once a year during Raya. (I do that for my 1:100 aircraft collection)

Fair warning tho if you've never used Detolf(s) before, they're pretty fragile and needs some fair reinforcement to avoid toppling over.

Detolf(s) are sold with four levels, but additional levels can be added which i've seen in another thread somewhere before, up to eight IIRC.

With my current configuration, i manage to display 6 helis per level, some on the stands, some not. Could be able to accomodate more if i really squeeze i feel.

Hope this helps.

Currently rent one deck of my wife's deco plate cabinet, stuffed the whole 17 helis in it sweat.gif

how about billy bookshelf with glass door panel to it? detolf is fine and dandy, but the glass panel seems to me as more fragile than wooden shelf (i always have this thought that it would get knocked over and broken into millions of tiny pieces sweat.gif)

oh yeah i forgot about that sweat.gif
detolf seems like the best solution, as long as one add in the cover between the door to lessen the dust

as a standalone, imho that the detolf is more stable than the billy bookcase simply due to its centre of gravity. billy bookcases can easily topple forward if not secured to the wall (the hxd dimensions of the billy bookcase is 202x28 compared to detolf's 163x37). the grooves holding the glass siding for the detolf are pretty deep and imho secure but being an almost all glass construction, it is obviously more fragile than the billy bookcases. there are pros and cons of both that one has to consider. detolf would suit items that are best appreciated all around, whereas billy can be used for items that are best appreciated when viewed from a certain angle. it may cost slightly more but the modularity of billy bookcases allows for seamless additions and corner displays. i wouldn't say one is superior over the other... depends on individual requirements. as for me, generally the 1/100s that have lesser details are confined to the billy bookcases whereas the highly detailed 1/72s are given the vip detolf treatment.

Wow, your display solution is really a sight to behold! Placing all 17 helis on one level really has that squadron presence! rclxms.gif

The Detolf is really fragile. It doesnt use tempered glass too unlike the Billy, so please be warned especially if there are kids around the house. No doubt the Billy bookcase is really appealing, but due to budget limitations, i opted for the Detolf. Also, i find that the Detolf has that 'display appeal' due to the all-glass surround as compared to the Billy. Ended up using my sole Billy as, well, a bookcase as it was intended biggrin.gif

Well i think in terms of stability, both are more or less the same since i secure them to the wall using 'U' brackets. However, like you said, it's the all-glass construction that's worrying! As hobby budget allocations are almost always the least and the most 'sacrificeable' of all budgets, i ended up with Detolf(s) instead. Only ever bought one Billy, used it as a bookcase instead in the end since the other Detolf(s) line up more uniformly as a display unit biggrin.gif

I believe they charge a factor of the price of item purchased, based on a certain distance. I think it's 7% or something like that, but i'm not too sure. Do consult Ikea or try their website to be sure.

Normally pick the detolf(s) back on my own. The package size can be found at the Ikea website if you want to be sure if it fits in your car.

delivery is rm75 per trip. detolf can fit into most cars but you gotto place it diagonally from rear right to the reclined front passenger seat. a safe bet would be no more than two units. it weighs approx 40kgs, but the glass pack is the heavier of the lot.

but no, i don't work for ikea...

If i'm honest, i feel that the Saga SV with the back seat folded down (if need be, even the front seats can go down to make more space) should be able to accomodate the Detolfs. Try measuring and see smile.gif

You can order from allscript and ask allscript to deliver to your house . Recently when I ordered issue 13-21 from them, my items arrived at my home 2 days later.
