LOL . Is there any point on buying Free DOS laptop ??
*
yes there is, especially if you want to get rid of Windows 8 or 'save your budget', if you know what i mean.
like what sifu TJ mentioned, its a laptop without windows license or you can call it, an 'empty' laptop.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 vs Lenovo Y510p

Dell has touch screen, looks like Mac

Lenovo better precessor/cooling?

can't decide

I would love a touch screen and the Dell is keeping me from getting the Y510 but then the Y50 will have touch but im scared the price for that will be high

I hope Y50 will have a 1080p touch priced around 3.5K. 4K HD useless for me with that small screen
*
What makes you think that you will love touch screen? Even though if i buy a touch screen laptop, i still wont use it. Very useless and inconvenient. Not to mention, constant poking the screen can loosen the hinge.

through non-verbal conversation, its hard to judge the politeness and rudeness. for example, when we write an essay, people will think of us annoying and if we write something short, people will think that we are rude. rclxub.gif

*Anyways, I wonder why we haven't really see any successful notebook that can be attached to a dock that will turn it into a performance machine?  hmm.gif Sure nice to have the best of both worlds laugh.gif
*
i have thought about this concept a very long time, like how Lenovo Y510P's ultrabay does but this concept's impression may made someone laugh.

lets say the main unit is the tablet itself, with an ULV processor, decent amount of RAM and massive mSATA SSD storage inside. when we want performance for gaming, just simply dock in the tablet to the keyboard, which has a quad core CPU and a beasty GPU in the keyboard. no mSATA slot or RAM slot are present in the keyboard dock, as it will rip off the cooling parts.

just my future concept impression, you may laugh if you wanted to. laugh.gif

EDIT : aiks, back to topic. i smell warnhammer. laugh.gif

Ok. But I guess my sis is not going to play any games. She just need it to surf, so some assignment and some projects. So I guess the 2k suits her. But the processor was just i3 only, does that affect the overall performance ?

And, I want to know which shop sells this model ?

Thanks !  smile.gif

i3 is sufficient for office usage (or student usage presumably).
if you are living at KL, you can go to Digital Mall@PJ or Low Yat.

in Low Yat, try visit C-Zone, Viewnet, Jayacom and PC Zone.

QUOTE(adrianneow @ Apr 1 2014, 10:27 PM)
Hmmm... So with Y510p can support a lot of graphics also? Designing, gaming. I assume the FullHD really very high definition. By what you say they have the same specs, it's better to get y510p isn't? Since it is 15'. Do you know the price of SSD? Can Lenovo extend warranty? Also, can I use student price to decrease the RRP also or RRP is the lowest already. Do you know any trustworthy seller? I'm staying at Kajang but won't be a problem to go to Lowyat. With my budget and my requirements, is y410p or y510p really very suitable for me or I should consider other models too?? I'm sorry for keep asking. I'm going to buy on this weekend, please help  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

And 1 more, it is the same spec with what you showed me right? The price difference so much. Should I directly buy from LENOVO?
http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/control...rkflow:ShowCart

1. Y510P's spec can support a lot of multimedia usages, even gaming and designing.
2. Full HD or full high definition, is history now. Now highest definition is called 4K, which the screen of Lenovo Y510P doesnt have but at least full HD is acceptable by most people.
3. The Lenovo Y410P and Y510P shares the same specifications but different screen size. Of course, a full HD benefits you a lot with your designing work, so 15.6 (Y510P) full HD FTW.
4. Price of SSD 128GB RM3xx++, 256GB RM6xx++
5. Want extend warranty, ask the seller to do it for you.
6. Those prices stated are RRP, but no matter you are student or working adults, do note price is NEGOTIABLE when sifu TJ states RRP.
7. Want trustworthy seller, can bug devour hikari85 numbertwo. they can arrange delivery to your doorstep.
8. Last but not least, don't consider other models. The Lenovo Y510P is the best laptop for your usages.
9. Take note, PC fair is this weekend.

the site you listed is from Lenovo USA, so the info you gave is incorrect. RRP can negotiate means asking for cheaper/best price. like i said, in malaysia, no matter you are student or adult, the sellers wont give you a student price unless it is Apple (the only that offers student purchase program). what they give is best price.

PC Fair is located at KLCC.

4th generation i5 vs i7? which i5 vs which i7? care to tell? anything you want to compare, please use google, or compare with CPU Boss.

EDIT : and i just received a facebook friend request? hmm.gif

2. Budget: Preferably less than 3k but will consider up to 3.5k within reason
3. Usage: Casual gaming, would like to play mainstream games lag-free and without overheating
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15.6"

since your sister only use it for assignments and projects and not using it for playing games, the Core i3 is enough to handle the office applications, where your sister will use it for doing assignments and projects.

Came across the toshiba Satellite U40T at a shop today and it looks almost the same as the dell inspiron 14 7000, price is identical too. Which one is better if compared? The toshiba comes with 3 years warranty too
*
Warranty wise, the Dell is the winner. Toshiba's after sales service is good but not as good as Dell but the main benefit choosing Toshiba is the 3 years warranty included in price. looks wise, the Dell is more sexier.

this gonna be a hard decision. laugh.gif

As Raymond sifu mentioned, warranty-wise Dell is still better (if opted icon_rolleyes.gif)
The current lineup of Toshiba notebooks have pretty shallow keyboard, not that suitable if you type alot oh  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Dell Inspiron 7000 series does have shallow keyboard as well. worse case, keyboard flex in larger models.
