I think 3D bluray needs additional tweaking and patch from Sony to be made compatible. As far as I know, 3D VR is fantastic in games that are made for PSVR now. Cinematic mode is a 3D cinema, so I'm not sure how they'll do 3D movies on 3D itself.
Alright I managed to play non-stop for 5 hours straight, decided to end the session because my eyes was feeling tired. Headset is comfy as hell, I think I can easily do 10 hours had my eyes let me.
Make sure you calibrate properly before you start playing with your headset, that means you'll be better off doing the advanced calibrating at the PS4 settings, where you hold your headset and match the lights on your TV/monitor screen, this is way difficult than it sounds cause I kept moving my hands and the damn calibration is taking its sweet time. After that go ahead and do the eye calibration and centering, the 70cm one.
Switch off all lights or cover your windows in daytime. I used my study desk and a regular chair, stacked 12 PS4 game cases, a toilet roll and placed the camera right on top of it. Distance between my headset and camera is roughly 1.2 meters away.
With this set up I had absolutely no issues with tracking throughout the session, only had two instance where I experienced the drift to the left problem once I pushed the PS button and exited to the PS4 home screen, easily remedied by holding the option button to recenter. Another time the cinematic mode was being jittery as I moved my head, I suspect it's the PS4 being laggy while a VR game is being run, problem went away after I close the VR application.
Try not to block your headset lights when moving your controller around, this was evident when I was busy swinging the Miku glow stick and everything starts to jitter. It'll be interesting how they handle the aim controller with Farpoint next year.
Alright now that boring stuff gets out of the way, let's talk about game impressions.
I
highly highly highly recommend getting the free Playroom VR and start out with Robots Rescue, it's a fantastic 3D VR platformer with you controlling a robot and trying to catch the other robots scattered around the area. You'll feel queasy when you start moving the robot around so be sure to take it nice and easy. You can smash your head on the boulders too!
Next up, Battlezone. This is so much fun, I felt queasy when I started to rotate the tank, as I mentioned, you don't need to quit playing when you feel that way, just take it easy and let your brain adjust itself. If you can't handle this, I don't recommend trying RIGS cause that's far more intense.
Rez is amazing as well, you get sucked into the world and I loved everything about it, this and Thumper is a must buy for music fans. No issues with it whatsoever.
Kitchen demo, goddamn it I knew exactly what's going to happen, and yet the crazy bitch freaks me out, I've felt that stab, it's insane how immersive it is, despite the jaggy image.
Summer Lesson, or should I say the paid tech demo of future dating sims. When she comes closer towards me I instinctively move back a little, it's really solid immersion, girls beware, I can see bright future with this. Not just for entertainment, but for virtual counseling and therapy.
360 Date, it was kinda cool, but I had little control over playback and I wanted to try other things. Will try watching the entire thing tonight.
Alright now here's the best part of the entire session, I believe Miku and games with similar style are perfect for PSVR. I think for the 7 songs they had in stage 1 of VR future live, I just kept repeating and repeating the concert. It's just that good. Good for exercising too, cause you'll be swinging the glow sticks throughout the performance.
If you liked panties, and with SEGA's blessing, you can have panties, just set height to -100 and head on stage. Black panties aside, the 3D effects are super gorgeous, everything is right in your face, literally get up close and personal with the virtual idol. This makes it pointless to be standing outside of the stage. You'd want to stay as close to her as you can.
Next up I tried some games in cinematic mode, starting with War Thunder. It's somewhat playable, texts are slightly readable to a certain extent, but I just can't get into it due to the jaggedness of everything. I'll just have to wait for the VR support.
Switched to more Miku goodness and I was blown away, I liked it so much I just carried on playing for the rest of my session. Easily the most playable game in large size cinematic mode. Both Project Diva X and Future Tone are fantastic on the big screen, probably due to fact it's sharp to begin with and super colorful. Everything just pops out in front of you, and I had to shift my view to follow the music notes.
I guess I'll be trying all my PS4 games to see what works, any ideas on what I should try next?
Thanks for review and have u try driveclub VR? is the graphic that bad like the review said? Thanks
