the reason we call topre as end game is not fully because of it's feeling too...

it is beccause of lack of custom keycaps tongue.gif
*
Actually. More like the Topre custom keycaps cost a bomb...

Some cheapass PBT also will cost same as IMSTO price.

But so far... I really like the bounce back. The less pressure you apply to hit the keys, the better it feels. I heard that after breaking them in, it will feel even more natural. From my perspective... it's a bit like a stiffer brown, without the click of blues. The response of the key, however, is amazing. I'd say that... playing Dota with Topre is even better than blues.

Weren't the keycaps for that KBT different when I was there earlier? Typing on this Filco feels great! Thanks dadude biggrin.gif
*
Yeah. I swapped out my keycaps for the IMSTO set, since Topre doesn't accept MX stems :|

Also, I did a mod on my KBT yesterday and I forgot to attach back the cable, so now I'm stuck using a shitty membrane keyboard... my fingers are cursing my brain.

Feels like some more used keys are now softer already thus sounding different.

That's normal bro. All switches have this breaking in point that makes them sound and feel slightly different.

You are now one step closer to the vintage feel biggrin.gif

Hehehe. One day in my hands I mod already. Since the bottom row is a little too steep for me, and I like my keyboard to be slanted I bought PVC pipe and doublesided tape. Now it's standing at an awesome angle. Will post pictures tonight.

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Mar 27 2014, 01:27 PM)
Do you think this topre able to end your game yet?
Or you still need custom tkl? brows.gif
*
Not endgame. I still want my ergo keyboard. Please understand that I learn touch typing when I was forced to use ergo keyboard. I still remember it's a Taiwan clone of the Microsoft natural keyboard when it first came out... so I have a fetish attachment that's unnatural to split ergo keyboards since it's so hnggghhhh nostalgic to me.

So I will still want my custom Ergo.

TKL... Only reason to want one is because I need one in the office. Custom might be overkill here, but in the end I will still want one TKL for travel use like office, CC or hometown.

So my endgame list:
1. Topre. Achieved. Stock keycaps quite gooding so far, dyesub PBT will remain stain free.
2. Ergo custom. Coming Soon™. Probably gonna spend another RM500 for keycaps and assembly before ending.
3. Custom TKL. Awaiting budgetary approval (since Sprit got a lot of problems, I might be going for Orion-level custom, so that will cost me more). Keycaps probably gonna use IMSTO unless I can find a GMK/BSP groupbuy, but this keyboard will have around 4-5 keycap sets.

So that's it. By end of this year my keyboard quest will end and I will need a new hobby.

Come come. I intro you to HiFi.  rclxms.gif  tongue.gif

Truth is I have tinnitus in my left ear. Can't hear a lot of complexity in soundscape (why you think I play bass? Because can feel the rhythm while having some music). So hifi will NEVER attract me.

Water cooling... is a means to an end. Your PC cun, no need WC unless you wanna win some competition. I want play games only.

Bass? I already have nearly endgame bass guitar (Fender babe) and the next one I wanna get is probably EBMM, which costs 8k, so not much chances of that happening.

Probably gonna start saving for a new car?

Taobao got. look for aikb aka imsto's store.

Hmmmmm, can also. Buy cheap car then start modding like you mod your MKBs.  rclxms.gif
*
Nope. Buying b-segment car and then drive.

I won't mod cars because I don't have garage. Yesterday just bought a working surface extension for my table so that I have more space to do work indoors.

Probably gonna go into something that's tactile... and indoors modding...

What do???

Wah mang slowly first lah. Straight shoot to 20K so fast. Start basic first HAHAHAH.
Erm, how about building and painting models? Like Gundams for example. You only need a small area to work with.
*
Nope. I don't like painting because you commit too much to the colour. I'm not that creative a person so be able to mess with paints.

I only really like One Piece, and the collectibles are just there for show... I don't really like things that are for show only.

Deswai my Filco was sold the same night I got my Topre.

I wish.

Yesterday, when showing off my collection to Ireferno, I notice my TKL's coinmod is loose. So I took it apart to redo the coinmod properly with more tape to ensure a good fit, no wobble and all that jazz. Then I forgot to re-attach the USB cable to the PCB, so I brought a stupid paperweight to the office with me this morning.

what kind of tkl can hit to 600 USD? secondary market only I believe.
*
Orion 400 USD, shipping about 30+ USD

Switches + soldering + lube + stickers = a few hundred RM.

God-tier keycaps to go with it USD 100

Estimated budget for this god tier keyboard is USD 600 or so before I'm satisfied.

Amirite?

Wow, really creative. But the elevation on your Topre from the PVC is kinda high don't you think? And won't it slide?
*
It's high-ish, but ok for me. I doesn't slide because the keyboard weight is quite stable. Thinking of adding a mat on this later, so sliding isn't an issue for me.
