Long answer:

Ducky Shine 3
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

- solid build
- using cherry switch which are reputable for durability and reliability
- LED effects
- standard layout, good for after-market keycaps replacement
- Made in Taiwan

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

- using kailh switch (replica cherry switch), low reliability and durability, tested by some keyboard users
- non-standard layout
- self-claimed 60million lifespan of switch  doh.gif
- Made in China

Just saying, clone/replica never can match the original quality.

I see PCB already also will choose ducky.

Damn that's quality PCB. The RAzer one... confirm lousy CHina clone...

how the heck can you differentiate them?! the same goes for quovadis123 for pointing out the sharper sound on PBT and crispier sound on ABS in my vid?!! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
*
For me it's the bass sound. Topre is a solid sounding and tub thumping sound that's soothing to my ears and sounds very elegant.

When you use good ABS, the sound isn't that weird either with MX Blues, the clicky brightness and the sharper tones actually complement each other.

When you combine that weird thin sound with the soothing bass tones of the Topre, you get a very disharmonic tone that is neither soothing nor bright.

For me, it's easy to hear because I've spent years adjusting the tone on my musical instruments. Certain sounds just... meshes well to create a symphony.

i liked when the topre is pressed there is a faint bouncy feedback sound. when u say good ABS u mean those dye sub or double shot ones?
*
Exactly. That's the Topre response for the keys and that's why I like Topre so much more than MX Browns. It's like buckling spring is the god-tier version of MX Blue, and Topre is the god-tier version of MX Brown, but you need some time before you actually start to appreciate that it's a very advanced version of membranes.

The switch like in the photo only.
LED mounted inside the transparent housing.

What about the wiring? I saw RGB LEDs need 4 pins in total.

I think it depends on the mounting on PCB.

How does it work, really?

You kinda need to read up on what I actually asked :|

I was wondering how RGB LEDs are mounted because the require 4 pins instead of 2

More interested about the PCB side of things, instead of a simple GH page where anyone can search...

the pcb have holes for 4 pin led.
hence existing pcb can't run rgb led

the new corsair pcb redesigned for rgb smd led.

whereas i think the china's pcb is using through hole rgb led.

there's one dude in GH is designing one pcb for rgb led also...using 4 pins as well IINM
*
Hmmm.. Interesting if we use a 4-pin through hole LED. Drill hole on switch? IIRC the switch has 2 holes initially.

QUOTE(Human10 @ Apr 16 2014, 11:24 AM)
Think back your old Nokia phones, there is SMD LEDs mounted directly on the PCB, while a layer of key membrane lay over it.

I believe it is similar to cherry rgb. LED is mounted on the PCB directly, without any direct relation with cherry switches.
*
Hmm.. is that why they need the clear switch covers?

Look, it's easy to select a keyboard. See budget how much, then buy lor. Filco and Ducky (not Ducky Zero) have similar build quality, but I think Filco is slightly better.

Anything else is tier 2, unless you're talking about cheap China stuff, then it's probably tier 3 already.

T2 probably stuff like Rosewill, CM Storm, Ducky Zero, etc.

Don't ask me about DasKeyboard or WASD Code because the price you paying for international shipping better spend it on keycaps.

Which is another whole new can of worms biggrin.gif
