didn't know M2N-E only has 1.95Vdimm max .... you should've gotten Tforce 550 instead, at least Vdimm is max at 2.2V

Hi guys need some feedback.
I using AM2 3500+ w/ Asus M2N-E mobo. New to O/C, so not sure whether I am doing it right. My BIOS Setting: FSB: 230 Multiplier: 11x HTT: 4x PCIE: 100 MHz DRAM: 533 MHz Cooling: Stock Voltages: Default Then in nvidia Monitor I see the result: CPU: 2530MHz HTT: 920MHz RAM: 612MHz I run SP2004 for 8 hours , no errors. Temps: CPU Idle 39C Load: 54C Mobo Idle 36C Load 44C Is this correct way to O/C? |

QUOTE(8tvt @ Jul 31 2006, 12:17 PM) should be correct.. I think timing was 4-4-4-12 then got one 17, and 2T setting (gotta check when I get home)what ram timing? 4-4-4-11? try 5-5-5-12 look can go further or not.. or just give more voltage.. I wanted to change that but not sure how. Also I dunno current memory voltage, so is risky to up the setting... need to read up on RAM O/C. CPU is quite hot though, but I see so few AM2 coolers around... This post has been edited by vey99: Jul 31 2006, 12:49 PM |

QUOTE(soulfly @ Jul 31 2006, 01:13 PM) at 2.6ghz @ 1.4v, my cpu is at around 50'C-51'C My ambient / mobo is around 36C, but ya its under the table and I only got a 80mm fan as exhaust so its not as good, I wanted 120mm exhaust but cannot find a nice case with that feature (for my budget).maybe your ambient temperature is slightly higher, thus contributing to slightly hotter cpu QUOTE(8tvt) otherwise put ram as 400 and increase the fsb/vcore more.. Cool man. I think that will allow me to increase FSB by quite a bit more, and also the Vcore. Will try when I get home. Also considering aftermarket HSF. Laterlah, my credit card bursted oredi after buying 2 rigs...ram setting can be changed at cpu setting not jumper free menu.. |

QUOTE(syazone @ Aug 2 2006, 05:09 PM) I also thinking about it when I bought my AMD rig 2 weeks ago. M2N-E is RM60 more and its different chipset also, 570U, hard to compare.Key points for me in selecting M2N-E: 1) Support DDR533 (biostar website say tf550 support 667/800) and I have spare 1GB 2) Supposedly better O/C since 570 chipset 3) Cool looking heatpipe (i'm a sucker for good looks) |

QUOTE(soulfly @ Aug 3 2006, 11:17 AM) TForce 550 supports 400/533/667/800 (the BIOS said so). Then their website should indicate it , it was one of the key factor I din't choose it also, RM60 diff I could use elsewhre ya Memory speed support depends on processor, not motherboard... in case of K8 of course. But for HSF, I got spare TT golden orb 2, the backplate provided is 2 holes to screw on mobo, but I see my mobo is 4 holes for backplate. The TT Golden Orb on the box says support K8 and Socket 940. Dude at the shop told me AM2 can use one, socket 940 mah... Any comments? |

ANyway will have to hunt around in LYP and see if they have nice AM2 HSF.s940 mean for those server proc.. not AM2.. the only problem is the clip.. if only can get the clip fit.. it's consider done.. i not see many AM2 cooler.. for zalman got other version.. cnps9500LED AM2 which is green led.. can be used for all platform.. so for tips.. better search that's stated 'AM2' |

QUOTE(D@rk @ Aug 3 2006, 05:44 PM) Shop Dude, always never keep their knowledge up to date. Find out ourself next time. By looking, we can actually tell Golden Orb is not compatible with Am2. Nolah, the Golden Orb is my spare HSF when I was setting up a couple of LGA775 PCs... din't buy it specially for my AM2 rig... |

I O/C my 3500+/M2N-E to: FSB 230 / Mult 11x / HTT 4x / DRAM 533 4-4-4-12 / PEG disabled / stock volts Run SP2004 8hrs ok, superPI ok. But then I reboot, it stuck at the bios screen (Asus Logo). Any comments? |

QUOTE(8tvt @ Aug 4 2006, 11:57 AM) normally we call them 'warm boot' and 'cold boot'.. Hmm I better try a bios update first and see how, hope its fixed. Thanks for the link.http://www.smartcomputing.com/editorial/di...yclopedia&guid= actually we need to study about it further.. http://www.comptechdoc.org/hardware/pc/pcboot.html for the simple way.. during POST.. cpu or ram not receive correct voltage to initiate them to on.. this could be bios problem psu or the mobo itself... i'm also waiting the latest bios to resolve this issue... me also using M2N-E.. it's rock stable when able to log windows.. |

QUOTE(sukun @ Aug 5 2006, 12:10 PM) Decided to build a new AMD system. My old rig=total trash! From the current trend ppl are getting :*AMD X2 4400+ (RM850-Cycom) <----Is this price-tag true? Other shop sell for 1K+ *Any bang-for-bucks MSI/GB/ASUS 570U chipset motherboard *1GB 667Mhz *MSI NX7600GT-VT2D256E-HD (RM685-TMatch) <----Is this real too? VIVO card btw. Also plan to do a SLI system. What's your fellow ppl's view? I'm not that hardcore gamer at all facing the screen 24/7. But I want to try out Advance Warfighter. CPU: AMD X2 3800+ // Mobo: Biostar TF550 // RAM : 1GB 667 // GC: Winfast or XFX 7600GT I suppose such spec is value+ performance. Advance Warfighter will run at max setting if your GC's ram is 512 and above. But my single 7600GT runs the game smoothly enough. QUOTE(soulfly) I suggest you get Enermax since you overclock ... the FMA series Enermax offers good value/performance compare to other brand within the same level. The 7600GT might consume not as much power as high end cards, but who knows the current it draws from the PSU. I got CM Extreme Power 380W, I though should cope with this ... QUOTE(camedemac @ Aug 5 2006, 12:35 PM) Thats the hot GC now but depends on what game, like I play Oblivion/GRAW/FEAR, turns out these games need higher power GC so I end up wif 7600GT. QUOTE(sukun) Actually does processor cache gives a big impact or not? Like comparing between Pentium D 930 & AM2 X2 4400+ You can compare here:Will it show a big gap of performance difference? http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html and see that the 4400+ is better but for that price you should be comparing wif the 950 ... or C2D ... |

I saw today pricelist from hardwarezone, it seems Viewnet have Mushkin ram is RM420 for DDR800. Is it worth getting that one? Two sticks of 512 @RM230 each?

QUOTE(DarkWonder @ Aug 8 2006, 02:30 PM) One more noob question, if i didnt overclock the proc, with mid end GC and 1GB DDR2 667Mhz RAM, most of the game in this market i can play or not? I bought the 7600GT cos my X1300Pro was so weak. I suppose you can play all the games, just how high res and detial you want only... my monitor is 19" so I got a better card to play higher resolution...7300GT 128MB DDR3 |

QUOTE(Merlin_of_light @ Aug 8 2006, 09:08 PM) If it isn't, should I get Artic Silver or Artic Ceramique? I know Silver is the best but where I stay violent lightning storms occur frequently and rapidly. Silver is a good electric conduit. I have concerns about the material increasing the likelyhood of my CPU being fried by a lighting strike right outside my house due to static electricity in the atmosphere. Sometimes the first lighting strikes fall in my neigbourhood, so there's little warning to shut down my PC. Bro, if lightning hits your PC I don't think you need to worry about whether you use AS or not... nor should you worry about AS which is sandwiched in between your cpu and HSF will attract lightning or not... I know some people who used Ceramique for this very reason. Myth, or fact? Anyway if you don't OC no need better thermal paste lah, stock temps are usually o.k. I only use it because I itchy fingers, bought a few tubes to play around ... |
