Its not like C2D price diff is RM50 right? Ppl also need to consider budget and availability. I buy AM2 and also able to afford a better GC to play games. No point buying a C2D just to get good superPI.

So far I also cannot pass 250FSB. Last stable result was:
FSB: 246
Mult: 11x
HTT: 4X
DDR: 533 (CPU/9)
Vcore : 1.425
Vmem: Stock
but load was 67C so now on stock speeds

Today I upgrade HSF after searching high and low in LYP (exlude OCP, they open so late) I finally bought a Gigabyte G-Power (GH-PDU21-SC) from All IT. Most other shops no AM2 cooler for sale.

After adding this + some AS5 I see around 13% improvements and now testing to see how stable at 2.7GHz. I prolly won't go higher for normal use cos generally I set guideline at 60C max for CPU.

That is my last setting I posted earlier, the temps were high but now with a decent HSF I can OC a bit more comfortably...

26 secs is fast. way to go.

I measure my o/c by improvements when I play Oblivion (which takes up 80% of what little spare time I have, the other 20% at LYN).

So far I checked using FRAPS benchmark, @2.2GHz and @2.7GHz, no significant FPS increase. I think last time I tested was 2FPS @ great forest. But I think FEAR will improve, once I finish Oblivion I will continue study o/c impact on FEAR and GRAW....

tt blue orb i dont think is AM2 compatible, cos it came out b4 that, but on the box it says support socket 940 (which is not AM2 right?). Anyway I got myself a Gigabyte G-Power, is so-so lah. Nothing fancy but cools reasonably. Around 7C reduction from stock fan when used with AS5..

Due to ram price increase I grabbed a pair of Mushkin Enhanced EM6400 DDR2-800 rams with timing 5-5-5-12 ( 512MB x2 ).

I am currently running on DDR2-533, so I stick the ram in and set to DDR2-800 in the bios with timings 5-5-5-12.

Then my rig ran fine at stock (AM2 3500+ @ 2.2GHz ).
Previously I dint play wif RAM before, and I got to 2.7GHz stable on DDR-533.

Now wif the new ram I get crash during everest cpu test at 2.7GHz. My setting in bios is:
FSB: 246
Vcore: 1.425
Vdimm: 1.90V (minimum for this ram)
HTT 4X
DDR2-667
4-5-4-12-2T

My spec: Am2 3500+ / Asus M2N-E / Mushkin em6400 1GB. Any comments?

i using m2n-e and my ram runs at default 1.9V, really not much room to move up... now running on stock speeds until i decide to get a new mobo ...

slightly ot: Seriouly wanna change something here, my Pentium D totally blows my 3500+ away at video encode even when running at stock... no issue until i stay up freakin late doing adobe premiere and dont have enuf cpu power...

Hehe same problem here man, freaking mobo (but then i dint expect to buy better ram at that time, just wanna play oc a bit). But if sell in garage also susah, cos likely they come here and read (maybe)

But its pretty good in the sense that I dont have to reset bios if i go a little overboard on the oc settings

Vdimm=1.95V timings 4-5-4-12,

Primed stable 8 hours last time I tested. Temps idle around 46C, load 59C (non aircon room).

What mushkin model ram do you have? em2 or tuner?

You know, the rated voltage for EM2-6400 ram is 1.9V, you set at 1.85V stable kah?

Cool clocks man, I cant get past 250FSB on mine, must be the ram... are you running at DDR800 cos I see ur divider is 6...

On 250FSB, HT= 4X
So I set down to 3X
and push to 25X fsb, cannot boot...
Vcore @ 1.4375 in bios, dunno shud go higher or not...

But I really zero on ram o/c, no idea if my mushkins can perform, nowadays slowly gonna read up how to oc the ram, but darn mobo vdimm is only 1.95V max... sigh

mine is around 1.4V default oso, 3500+ AM2

I think you may have hit the limit for your o/c. Last time I try to clock higher(AM2 3500+ @ 2.8) it can boot and run prime, but when i switch off and on again it won't boot also.

Heh but its not bad can prime 32M at HTT1333 also.
