im planning to get these for gaming and overclocking soon;

AMD AM2 X2 3800
Biostar TForce 550
Corsair XMS2 1GB kit PC6400 DDR2 800
Galaxy 7900GS 512MB GDDR3

my questions are;
1. is it worth for me to grab ddr2 800? or maybe i should get ddr2 667 instead?
2. which motherboard is very good in terms of oriented budget (under RM300) - Abit KN9 or Biostar TForce 550?

*
ek..no stock?thats weird blink.gif

said the psu is pure power...
it not divide by 2..

im using 2 hdisk
msi 7900gs
1 dvdrom

how 2 set ram divider?hav any link that usefull
*
aww..i think ur psu is really not enuf power since u r using x2 and 7900gs..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

btw i wanna ask ur guyz opinion..
is it ok to get a highly overcloackable DDR2 667 rather than buy a DDR2 800 ram?
because ive read some reviews bout this ram --> LINK
and it is overcloackable up to DDR2 1100 drool.gif ..

so what do u guyz think? better get that patriot or corsair xms2 pc6400 512x2 ddr2 800?by the way ill be using this ram with am2 x2 3800...

suggestion : why dont go for Biostar TForce 590 SLi??
*
err..i dun really need a SLi mobo..just a single graphic will be enuf.. smile.gif
all the motherboards listed above are retailed under RM400
and seriously i dun have a really high budget to buy a newest chipset mobo..
from what i had browsed thru this thread, tforce 550 should be good already.. smile.gif

but still,i need ur opinion becoz still confuse which mobo is really good for gaming..

this PC that i used to reply to this topic running on TForce 550 with AM2 3800+ retail with egate 7300GT ddr2...
[my wife using the wireless laptop, so i'm locked in PC room]

and everything really nice....with that amount of budget....
mobo rm280 + AM2 rm494 + gpu rm308

not running this PC too much on games...coz doesn't have time after work....

and very steady OC up to 2.3 currently...and still do some OC to get it higher...but dont know the result yet...

dont know about 570..coz didn't assemble it...not much comment..
and shoot straight to 590...that currently working on...

i wont go for branded one if i have limited budget...coz the purpose is the same = playing game + donloding + interneting + some office works...

just an opinion....

[attachmentid=185847]
this pic on 550

kalakatu, consider the board soulfly using.

For an around RM300 board, that will be the best overclocking board available.(if u into OC)
If not, just get the cheapest option available.
*
thanks for the suggestion given smile.gif
so i think ill grab TForce 550 then.. nod.gif

but just one more question - can CM Hyper TX fit nicely on TForce 550 without problem?

tf550?
Not the DFI Infinity nF-M2 ?
Is HyperTX bigger than XP90?
XP90 fit nicely on my TF550.

I would get the DFI Infinity nF-M2  if it available when I bought my tf550.
*
DFI Infinity nF-M2 is wayyyy of from my current budget..
plus i like the appearance of biostar more..

yes hyper tx is bigger, plus higher..

thats why im asking here if it can fit nicely without colide with my side panel

Well the DFI is around RM320 in garage sales. I believe TF550 around RM290?

Let me know the height of hyper TX
*
eh..is that true? blink.gif
becoz i think the price is almost RM400..
btw here are the details for hyper TX

If you don't mind, would you get the specs of XP90?

UTP internet connection is slow like snail now.

I'm using casing Coolermaster Centurion 530.
Thermalright XP90 + 38mm think fan.
And there are around 5cm space between the fan and the side panel.

Hopefully the height of [xp90+38mm+50mm] > 136.5mm biggrin.gif

here u go bro smile.gif

Well....u can calculate it urself don't you?
75+38+50 = 163mm
Its way more than the height of Hyper TX.
Unless u using micro ATX casing, I don't see a reason hyper tx will hit the side panel.
*
yup..ill calculate it.. smile.gif
well actually i saw some pictures showed cm hyper tx fitted on a mobo, and its so huge and tall..
anyway thanks for ur reply..really appreciate it smile.gif

QUOTE(camedemac @ Feb 1 2007, 05:08 PM)
yeah.. bcoz after overclock, your system seems to be 'change' a little bit. i've experiencing this before with my tforce550. For the first time i assemble all the items, see the clock speed, vcore, htt etc throguh cpu-z, it shows all correctly. e.g Core speed 2000.0MHz, HTT 200.0Mhz, vcore stay at one voltage only. but after overclock, then set it back to stock, it's not stay at the stock speed.

*sorry for the bad english. not in the good mood tongue.gif
*
QUOTE(coolblade @ Feb 1 2007, 05:15 PM)
@camedemac

so, is it will effect the mainboard, cpu, ram, gfx after overclocking?

I am planning to overclock my computer, but after read kalakatu's post here, i am a bit afraid.. any workaround?
*
but it never happened with my previous athlon3000...
my last venice will go back to the normal setting after set it back to default..

but this 3800 am2...i dunno...
any bad effects with these non-default setting?

*
currently using cpuz 138..its the latest one rite?

can i kno biostar TForce 550 n 570U different alot ???
which 1 is more recommended ??
*
not a big difference..570U has more SATA and newer chipset..
and of course the new one is more recommended..

QUOTE(davidletterboyz @ Feb 2 2007, 03:35 AM)
That's bcos biostar tforce will revert vcore reading to VID when it exceeds 1.5V. Tforce tends to overvolt than undervolt....u must be putting 1.475V at BIOS...am i correct? tongue.gif
*
yup..how do u know that... blink.gif
plus,my vcore keep changing between 1.488v and 1.25v..
any idea whats goin on?

it's either the system is not stable or cpu-z misreading.. rclxub.gif

i thinks its not misreading...becoz my oc utility also shows 2.2ghz instead of 2.5ghz..
