You did not OC to 2.5GHz with just 1.2Vcore; I had tried to bump up my Vcore to 1.4V+ and sometimes CPU-Z would just display as 1.2V; I guess this have to do with the sensor.

And please look at all the old posts in this thread; it contains lots of information of OC, you could not just keep on asking how to do this, how to do that, etc. I mean, if you ask so much and does not bother to try yourself; why not just send us your rig then let us OC for you completely? tongue.gif

If you really had read through this thread, you should notice soulfly already taught a simple way to OC before; use a lower DDR2 divider (auto timing) and start increase your CPU clock little by little. When you cannot boot or the system unstable, bump up the Vcore by 1 notch. Each time you manage to boot into Windows, run super Pi 8M and if successful you could consider moving on to increase your CPU clock (but its better if you prime it for 8 hours first for stability).

hmm, I think its better if you OC the RAM separately from CPU; which means you should downclock your cpu clock and start OC your ram (tighten timings, higher speed, etc). biggrin.gif

the first picture is i set bios auto to help me overclock it ....
below is the result..
[attachmentid=139031]

this 1 is use 1.2v can oc to 250 wor...so geng...

then i hear soulfly them say set manually. .....
then i duno why if i oc to 250...1.2v manually cant boot up....must increase to 1.4v only can boot up...
below is my manually oc result..
[attachmentid=139032]
got any suggestion?

Did you ever read the post that I replied you? doh.gif

Even if you set automatic OC, the bios already bump up the Vcore; it was just that cpu-z display it wrongly..

You could keep on increase the cpu clock or prime it for at least 8 hours for stability check...

hmm, my cpu couldn't boot up if I try with 260 HT...

Is this problem only occurs on dual-core? I saw a lot of single core (Orleans) could OC more than that easily... doh.gif

I guess I have to CPU burn-in again.. (I already tried CPU burn-in to get 240 HT up to 250)

which BIOS are u using?

what is your setting at 260mhz which cannot boot? provide more details so that people can help.

I'm currently using the 703 bios (July) and now manage to boot up at 255 HT but unstable doh.gif (Vcore = 1.425)

Will try to use 1.45 Vcore for prime again later tongue.gif

And it seems I could not straight away put 250 HT or it will beeps and will not let me boot up my comp doh.gif I have to put 240, boot up and restart; then 245, boot up and restart; then only can put 250 HT rclxub.gif (This problem always come out if I use lower CPU multiplier since I need to put in more HT to bring back up my default clock speed doh.gif )

Just found out my Corsair XMS DDR2-667 manage to run at 850 MHz thumbup.gif Will try to see if it can run more higher tongue.gif

My best and stable setting currently are 2.5GHz and RAM running at 850 MHz smile.gif (Already can run PS2 emulator smoothly biggrin.gif )

LOL... you can screw that Smart Guardian reading, the CPU temp is over-reported by 11 to 12ºC! That's why I've included Core Temp reading on the screenshot too.
Anyways, X2 is really hot especially when you overclock it. My 3000+ Orleans @ 3GHz hovers around 45º (Core Temp) only, even when I pumped 1.65V to it. X2 seems to be about 10ºC hotter... It also puts a lot of stress on PWM too.  rolleyes.gif

Yeah... thats why I need a better CPU cooler before proceed to OC more than 2.5GHz (getting 53~55ºC max load)...

I missed my old Venice tongue.gif

btw, I thought CPU temp should be kept below 60ºC for safety? I still dunno the exact safety temp range for my X2 tongue.gif
