Monthly minimum 1500km.. Maximum 2000km.. quite average.. RM1000 for loan, petrol.. Mostly rm200++ petrol for my iswara.. so RM800 for car..

just now my SA called me, and i try booking test drive with him around this weekend or next weekend.. he is ok for me running in highway.. coz i want to test performance and noise reduction in cabin.. hope new version not disappoint me.. probably CFE is no problem for me in budget.. quite suits me well.. just care about noise reduction performance.. power or not power still ok for me.. haha.. coz I'm driving iswara only.. not heavy footer.. just want stable and comfort car when driving..
*
In that case, I believe the Honda City might be better for you. Town driving FC is much better in Honda City compared to Preve. This is my FC for the last 3 months:

However, do test drive the Preve, you might change your mind. Me? I don't mind the FC. For the power, safety & comfort, I'd take Preve CFE anyday.

Because govt raise the price of foreign cars Reason so ppl will focus on Proton 4eva

Which is no longer true since 2007 I think. The tax is the same as Honda, Toyota & Nissan as they are CKD. CBU From ASEAN is also taxed the same.

Then people bring up excise tax. Excise tax depends on the selling price, which is set by the company themselves, i.e. Proton, UMW, Tan Chong, Honda Malaysia.

Really people are reacting to 1990s and early 2000s situations.

Haha support above.. No need to argue.. We have to accept the fact on current.. Buy what we want.. Nobody force must buy proton right? We have our choices..
*
No better way than voting with your wallet. Proton almost died a few years ago. Then they had to make some tough decisions to stay alive and improved their products. If it hadn't been for that fact, Proton would still be coming out with Wira Nth Edition.

Competition has been good for Proton. Painful, but good. I do not wish Proton to be protected. They have the ability to be better. They just needed a massive nudge & wake up call from consumers. Buy Proton if you think it fits your need, not to "support local products" or whatever. No not feel forced to buy Proton.

Better than my 1.6l B-seg whistling.gif

If Preve can do anything less than 9l/100km mixed town/highway, I kenot brain why ppl complain high FC
*
Because they don't have FC meter in their previous cars. Only "feeling" that their car saves fuel or consumes fuel. Without FC meter you need to do fuel up-to-fuel up calculations to determine FC. Not many are willing to do that.

Bottomline: psychology.

Is the Preve's avg FC gauge accurate? I mean if you compare to manual calculation.

If I compare my car's (NOT Preve) average FC gauge vs manual calculation, it's about 0.1-0.3L/100km difference, so it's quite accurate.
*
Accuracy varies with time between fuel ups.

Scenario 1:
Fuel up in the morning, drive 581 km, refuel at night. Time between fuel up = less than 1 day. Variance between FC meter & manual calculation = 0.1 L/100 km.

Scenario 2:
Fuel up, drive 400 km in 1.5 weeks, refuel. Time between fuel up = 9 days. Variance between FC meter & manual calculation = 0.7 L/100 km.

Conclusion:
FC meter is accurate. However, the longer time between fuel up means more fuel is lost due to evaporation, thus resulting in larger variance between FC meter and manual calculation.

Remark:
This is based on my experience driving Preve for 2 years, ~52,000 km. Manual FC calculation was begun when I received the car at 13 km on the odo, and still continues until today.

Hey to all master and sifus biggrin.gif i'm new here. Hope to be treated kindly if can:P i'm planning on getting a new car maybe before raya so i'm kinda torn to buy between persona and preve. I'm a viva user but thinking on selling it because of a lot of problems.  Small car, small boot space, etc. I use my car mostly going to classes and travel a little in maybe 20-50km minimum a day. Mix city and highway. So just wondering the pros and cons for both persona and preve in my current situation. Planning on using the car for a long time to come. So i need the sifus opinion on this. Thanks:)
*
Short trips going to classes - only small cars are good for that, i.e. Kancil, Viva, MyVI, Swift. Big, heavy car you will have problems such as parking and high FC. On the highway & the open road though, big cars such as Preve is very, very comfortable.

Oh i don't care much about fuel consumption as i just travel a little only. May i know about the fuel consumption for anyone who have both cars? As i said that i'm planning on using the car for a long time so i want to know which is, well future-proof perhaps:P
The problem is not with engine or anything because i take care of my car like a baby. Lol. But the main problem is the size. The size is just to small for me. I'm a sports guy so i carry a lot of stuff in the trunk(boot). I can't crammed all my stuff into the boot space so i have to put it on the back at the passenger seat. As i'm lazy to go back and forth to the sports center to get the equipment, i just made my car like a storage or them. Lol.
Parking not a problem as there is a lot of them. Haha. I don't care much about fuel consumption. As my main problem is just the size actually:D

I hope you really mean the 'don't care much about fuel consumption' statement, because from Viva to a C segment car, the FC difference will really be that obvious.
*
Yep. To XmuzzyX7: Let's put this in perspective. RM50 fuel will only last about 200 km when you are doing short trips. Are you willing to live with that? The problem is weight. You want size, with size comes weight. Moving that weight will use more fuel compared to a lighter vehicle.

more on the road that will bring down the spare part's price??
Preve is quoted as Global car and having export to various countries(although sale not much), suppose to be lots of spare parts been produced and standby else they gonna break their own commitment again to outside world... so will it still consider higher maintenance or Proton still act the conventional way... let it be  tongue.gif

btw how ab if we compare Civic, Altis versus Preve, i meant the spare part portion? any idea?

Spark plug is already cheaper. It was RM400 for 4 pieces. Now RM280. I asked PE SC as my next service would be 60K km service where I would need to change my spark plugs and CVT fluid.

Preve CFE 2012, Penang - KL at night, 160 kph all the way. 10.6 L/100km or 9.4 km/L. Very good FC I'd say considering the speed I was going.

Side note: Even when cruising at 160 kph for 3 hrs, the coolant temp was at 83*C and intake air temperature was at 38*C. RPM was around 3,500 RPM. Preve's cooling system seems up to the task of sustained high speed driving.

Anyone got this notification? Received it this morning.

This happens *every year*. My car is 2 years+ and twice I've received this message. Just press "Dismiss" then press the "Map" button on the head unit. You won't be reminded again until next year.

I'm more interested in the instruction. Did you go to the SC and had it updated?
*
Map update costs RM330, and you need to pay to Bosch, not the SC. Not worth it. The Bosch head unit uses Tom Tom maps, and similar to this: http://routes.tomtom.com/#/map/Kuala%2520L...&ui=8&map=basic

BMW, Mercs you need to pay around RM2k to update, so that is normal for automakers.

Wah lau...what a rip off...Rm3xx, I can buy another garmin GPS with latest map!!
So is it any unit which use Tom tom map charge like this or just Bosch?
Guess standalone gps is more pratical although more ugly...
Maybe wait for Android HU...can use Waze...no more rip offs!

Bosch, Nissan Connect, Opel/Vauxhall Touch & Connect, Fiat... they use the same Bosch system, just with slightly different UI.

Nissan you need to pay RM600. What is there to be surprised about? All automakers charge a bomb for map updates. That is where PND such as Garmin & Papago are better. The only exception is Suprima S that uses Lokatoo that you can update the map for free from Lokatoo's website. http://www.caradvice.com.au/286422/satelli...martphone-apps/

Personally I am using Garmin Nuvi 3592. Good map, good routing, very fast calculation.
