should i get this? im looking for a car for daily work commute of around 10-30 km one way, depending on where i rent (johor) and the occasional drive from johor to kl. anything i should ask the SA when i go to test drive?

Hmm just wondering what tyres you guys are using, I think I need to change mine soon (4 years+).

Currently using Michelin XM2 (185/60/R14) but I find my fuel consumption is a little higher compared to stock tyres. Must be the width which causes more fraction. I won't want to change to this again coz its a little pricy. Not sure whether Malaysian made tyres like Viking is any good coz it's so much cheaper. I want something affordable yet ok in quality.

My batt is dead so i replaced with a new one.
The prob is i couldnt start the car.
Tdc sensor has been cleaned thoroughly.
One thing different i noticed was that the led light which is located between the ignition key barrel and the coin slot, lights on (constant, not blinking) when i turn on the ignition. The car wont start after the crank.

Some1 said i need to reset the battery. How do i do that?
Is there any possibility that the fuel pump is dead - this car mileage is 110k. How do i check it.

Please help, the car is stucked @ sec14 pj.

Same situation like when the tdc is dirty. The systems lights all normal. No check engine. Nothing unusuall. Crank the car, it just wont start.... The batt is good, the robotic is good, i could shift to gear 1, R, and N while on batt.

The immobillizer is original proton. The led has been there since the beginning... Ill try your way of reset and report back

Oh yaa that button. The one used to reset alarm by switching on the ignition and then press that button - the alarm will go quiet after that.

Or is there ne other way to use that button that im not aware of?

Check if your fuel pump is buzzing. Immo disable it

Dont know how the fuel pump buzzing sounds like. Is there a definite way to disable the immo besides using the key fob transmitter. Both the main and spare oready kaput - sticky button and crazy electronics when battery is replaced (coin batt).

the fuel pump is under the rear seat under a metal circle cap. you can either listen to it or use a meter to measure the voltage.

the immo key inside got a small chip. fully protected one. so just bring the keyfob, even if its damaged near the center console.

This sounds like new gen car immo key fob. When the bat is dead, need to use physical key to unlock the door and placed the key fob near the push start button before starts the car.

Does this work with my 15yo model savvy. Kinda funny if savvy have that tech.

Btw the car is still stuck @ ss14 pj. Im gonna pay a visit after 2pm. The new batt is getting weaker.

My last resort is to tow it back to reliable garage.

i just sold the car on wilayah day. being the original owner, i couldnt believe the car just died like that because i took care of it since the beginning. the new owner called for help so i help.

for an 8yo used savvy, im confident this car was tip top. from this forum and others, i learned alot about preventative maintenance and this car never did once died on me while in traffic because of what i learned from ppl like you guys here. 

for die hard savvys, i know youve been through the rear wheel bearing recall, the jerking with the tdc, the leaks of ps switch, the zero rpm of the speed sensor, the leak of clutch pump, the antics of the robotic, and others.

so cut the story short, on the afternoon visit, the new owner finally told me that it was his mistake that the car didnt start. he told me that he replaced the key fob coin battery with fresh ones and he misplaced the security chip (that little piece of plastic - the pic). he thought it was nothing. the best part was that he also misplaced the security chip for the spare key.

actually i was confident that i could solve the prob after fireball and kevinke20 talked about immo but i was totally frustrated after i checkout both keys.

the mechanic who change the car batt did came before me said the same thing. no security chip, no start. kapish. so whats left with him (the owner) only the steel and plastic tag with numbers for him to ask proton for replacement key with security chip.

lesson learned - small things do matters, and they complete everything for a bigger purpose.

I hv been a silent reader and oni recently join dis site. Wud really appreciate some guidance from the sifus since im very noob bout cars.

I bought my 2006 savvy last year and oni do routine service like change engine oil and oil filter. pity d car back then coz i don have much time during my final year to take care of it. now i got some time to pay him attention..hehe

the car is reliable but sometimes its hard to start the engine. n after start, d rpm will shoot to 3 or 4 n suddenly jump down to 0 n engine die. then, its damn hard to start d engine afterward. is it bcos of tdc sensor as well?

surely u know how to solve it or go to nearest savvy recommended workshop. its been repeated many time by david and me before.

i clean the gold finger , like some dude taught in savoc , now savoc already closed down ,

after some time the gold finger will get dirty , and need to clean /brush or korek again ,

i changed once but now problem still persist , the driver side ,

because we frequent use on the driver side , the passanger side less used , so rarely passenger side got problem ,

I haven't been here for quite some time coz I always come here only when got problems with my Savvy. Been reading the latest comments and seems David is feeling unappreciated. Well just to let you know he has saved me a couple of times already and I really appreciate that. Also, the drop-in filter he provided to me definitely helped me with my FC and a little bit more of power hehe

want to share.before this my car cepat jerking due to dirty tdc sensor.
few years ago, once i cleaned that sensor, my car can running smoothly for few weeks before jerking again.
but still ok la can soft reset and it takes few months to become hard to start(sensor too dirty)

last dec2015 my car jerking gila2
cleaning sensor just  lasting for few days.less than a week.terus hard to start.
crank to start sampai battery weak sometimes.
sometime crank tak hidup, wait 10 minutes crank again ok pulak     
i think my clutch and flywheel area now  look like roads at kuantan with bauksit  kot.hehe

then i sprayed my tdc sensor with spray clear...."cat sembur color clear,spray that u add to give your color more shining effect, NOT cleaning solution",
from dec2015-march2016 ,drive for long distance ipoh -kuantan and stuck in heavy traffic jam
so far no hard jerking & hard to start   

if anyone want to try
i just sprayed a small metal that pointing toward flywheel
not a whole tdc or metal toward connector
other spray color code  maybe works too.need to test

i think new layer i spray cover it for giving false tdc timing signal as dirty tdc sensor do that make it jerking
maybe sifu david can elaborate more

itu sensor is magnet , u spray it the magnet covered by paint and lost some of the magnetic function  ?

itu sensor cepat dirty , is because your flywheel is dirty ,

proton edar auto city juru , tell b4 , need clean the flywheel which is not cost efficient unless u change flywheel
sometime i enjoy clean the sensor , out of no reason and too free ,

because i did alot of times and become easy ,

i just put 1 screw the tdc sensor , in 10 minute can kawtim,

i drove from s.ampat to autocity , to seberang jaya sunway ,to penang island and back,no problem at all , and no loose screw

make sure u tighten alittle bit more on that particular one side

sometime can last 6 months and sometime 2-3 month b4 need to clean again,  under hot sun during noon confirm can notice hard to start, when cool no problem ,

this is the design problem , mitsubishi got tdc sensor , like wira satria , but their sensor magnet point is very very big
(like your android usb car charger bottom charge point) , that why easy to start ,

horrible thing happen on saturday on highway plus heading north (from simpang ampat to seremban)

waited 3 hour for the god damn tow truck, a fletbed came and refuse to pull cause cannot ma. tayar tanggal sudah. how.

next day, sunday ask another towtruck by calling my car insurance. pull to my dad friend workshop.

But that light appear during what i wrote before. The rest of the drive the light is not appear at all. When slowing(rpm <1.3k) and during changing gear.

Already went To workshop to adjust the gear link kit. But then the pomen so bz i guess he do cincai as long as can engage gear 1. Not sometimes I engage gear 1 it goes to gear reverse. So dangerous oh when slowing down change gear 1 but gear reverse yang engaged instead. The pomen said need to change the gear bush. Got ppl sell that? Next time need to ask adjust start engine and so try gear 1 and reverse alltogether.

I hv 1 savvy tersadai almost 1 year due to gearbox prob. Now i plan to convert it to manual or other less problem gb. Anyone know where shop can do it? Else any1 interested to buy it?Tqvm

Is it possible to change gearbox fro AMT to manual?

It will be expensive. Better u swap entire car instead. AMT model only worth RM 3-4K. Since the AMT can be problematic, many won't bother.

Might as well buy a used manual.
