Truth to be told, sometimes, or perhaps most of the time, the "Chinaman" Companies are giving much greater packages and bonuses to their employees, taking better care of their employees as compared to the MNCs with the western culture.

Please add Avenue K (City Properties Sdn Bhd) in the list.

For those who need clarification, this Avenue K is the shopping mall (opposite KLCC) and City Properties is the mall management. I worked in the management office, Marketing Department 2 years ago and it was the start of my nightmares.

1. Extremely obvious favoritism
- One particular staff (who hold same position as me) get jealous easily and she loved to sabotage all my events/projects. When she had her tantrum, she screamed at other colleagues, my clients too, throw stuff at people she don't like i.e me, and badmouth me to all other colleagues. GM and HR told me to keep silent and forgive her because she has mental problem and need more attention. Also, i was obliged to help her in all her projects but when it comes to mine, i was required to work independently. 
- Besides, there were alot of instances where i perform better than this particular staff, but in the end, i was being criticized and verbally abused, but she get compliment by GM.

2. Hire friends who are incompetent
- The GM prefers to hire her own trusted friends to hold important position - Marketing Manager and PR Manager. I wouldn't have complaint if they were competent. Unfortunately, they weren't and most of their jobs were passed down to me. And all the work i did, the credit will always goes to them since only managers are allowed to attend meeting with Directors.

3. Intentional torts, false accusation and defamation
- After 2 years with this company, i finally couldn't take it anymore and resigned. I was supposed to serve 2 months notice. However, things started to happen 3 weeks before my last day. First of all i found that i cannot access my email from home. Then in the morning i found my access card was blocked and cannot set foot in office. When the security finally let me in, i saw my PC was locked. My GM, HR and Marketing Manager forced me to sign a 'misconduct letter' saying i have stolen company property, i was shocked and asked them to show me proof but they couldn't show any. I told them i won't sign the letter without solid proof. Then they forced me to sign a 'warning letter' saying that my attitude make 'everyone' feel 'unhappy and uncomfortable'. When i asked which person(s) complaint about this? They told me actually it's my Marketing Manager (and i assume the PR Manager too), she felt stressed when i finish my job fast, and whenever i urge her about deadlines, it makes her very uncomfortable. HELLO??? what is this logic???? I denied the accusation too. In the end they said do not want to see me again so i must sign early releasement, which i agreed because no point to talk to these unethical people anymore.
-I was escorted out IMMEDIATELY by security (like a criminal) because they do not want me to take any important info with me. They immediately took away my whole PC and CPU, all name cards (even the holder i bought), and ALL papers on my table. I did not even have time to take my personal belonging (have to come back again tomorrow to pack).
-Also, the GM threatened to spread bad words about me to everyone in the industry, and according to her 'will ensure i cannot find any job'.

I was one of the top achiever in this company but in the end not only they did not appreciate me, they treat me like criminal. I have not stolen anything (monetary or non-monetary), and after i resigned, i even compiled a list of client/customer base for my Marketing Manager. The way they CONFISCATE all my name cards, files/papers, PC and CPU, sent security to escort me really cause me alot of emotional distress. I am hpy that i found a job just 2 weeks after this drama. However ,I want to share my personal experience here, and let everyone know about this unethical company. Please be very careful if you plan to join this company, don't be tempted by the slightly above market rate salary.

To avoid defamation lawsuit.

The lawsuit is not directed to you but to Lowyat.NET. They can force them to remove it.

Those defamation suit. You can lodge police report if someone defame you on Internet and you can sue them too if they don't retract and apologise.

Lowyat.NET host the data, so they can submit a cease to exist letter attached with police report to remove this post. And since LYN is Malaysia based and they aren't as big as Facebook/Google who have lawyer to go through these stuff, they probably remove it to close the case.

People using #@$ definitely have their own reasons. If you think you can mention those names and without getting lawsuit, why not be the first one to do it? I'd like to see that.

Oh boy, TS should move that bolded part to the myth category. i've once worked in a chinaman company where i can't learn nor grow at all. So it has all of the bad attributes of a chinaman co while having none of the good parts.

Let me tell you my experience with them:

- Turnover rate insanely high. 90% people, like me, in there only for 1 year just to get it in the resume as our first job. Pay is so little that you'll get a heck lot of job offers from other companies after you complete that first year.
Those who remain are team leads and management staff that have a skill with ass kissing.
=learn up and move to other company. everyone is for himself.

- Most the people in there are really Chinese-educated. Bananas like me and my Indian colleagues cannot click with them. If you not Chinese-ed like them, you get push aside and treated like outsider all the time.
If you can't ching-chong, you can forget about any promotion.
=same for even mnc. you are not in the circle with them then you are outside circle but this is more obvious in chinaman comp.

- At their PJ HQ, their pantry is always kept locked and no one is allowed in except the designated pantry staff (who are also cleaners actually). More secure than Bank Negara. You can't even go in to get hot water refill for your tea. Have to give cup to staff for them to fill it.
You want a drink? Wait for the drinks cart to come around the workplace twice a day with hot flasks of sugar loaded Nescafe 3-in-1 and teh tarik. Diabetic? Too bad. You get better treatment in Pudu prison!
=drink carts go around twice a day, the person doing push cart cannot help to fill hot water? this is like india call center where u not allowed to go anywhere except your workstation.

- When they sent me(and other colleagues) to work at a client's office in Indonesia, we have to go in on a tourist visa. Not work visa.
The practice is that we just slip in 50K Rupiah note into our passport when we go through immigration and then put it into expense claims later.
