3liter as per the sales advisor at Honda Parts shop but my foreman says it wasn't enough that have to fill up a little more like 100~200ml from another unfinished Honda DW1 ATF from his shop
*
3 litre is actually more than enough lo.

The valve and rocker arms of my engine..

I think it still looks good as it still remains in metal silver colour and not in baked brown.

Mine like copper color sweat.gif

My practice is to change engine oil every 7000 km... or 1 year (whichever is earlier) even though it is synthetic.

Cooper colour means you've pushed the engine oil beyond it's intended life.

Normally when do you change your engine oil?

Hi all,
I notice a whistling sound coming from outside the car (suspect it’s the roof area) when I’m driving above ~90 km/h usually on highways. Checked and didn’t notice anything missing or loose. This is a new sound and I’ve not noticed it before.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Not even sure what to look for really🤔
*
The whistle sound is a known issue on this car.. It is usually caused by the windscreen rubber molding which resonates sound when going at highspeed.

My also will have if I go around 110 - 120kmh.... Usually the radio will muffle the wind noise.

Strange, your oil change method should be able to keep the engine clean.. hmm.gif

Hi all,
What tyres are you using and would recommend at the moment?

I'm using 185/55 R16, as below, considering changing out the rear 2 and swap to front, looking for recommendations please

Front: MICHELIN ENERGY XM2+ (1 year old, ~ 10k KM)
Rear:  Continental CC6 (4 years old, ~35k km)
*
You should not mix tyres with different thread pattern. It is not so safe in the wets as different thread pattern will have a different water dispersion rate.

Yesterday wasnt that lucky enough
Car sustained heavy coolant leakage at unknown places, luckily managed to park at the empty lots at the roadside and call my insurance company to tow the car back to my home .
*
Do keep us updated on the outcome.

I think previously when your car had coolant bursting out earlier was a sign something is wrong with the cooling system.

sorry to hear that and thanks for the effort to share it.
let us know the update.

did the engine overheat ie: engine light come on?

on a side note, I'm just back from a road trip, and had the chance to sit on my SIL's 2005ish corolla. even though its a much older car, and the usual rattling here and there at times for an old car, it's a very comfortable car to sit in when driving in those kampung highway and over bumps, as compared to my TMO.  dry.gif

looks like its a good choice that its one of my options to replace TMO (whenever it happens in the future).
*
Toyota always had a much more comfortable suspension as compared to Honda. Even a Vios suspension feels more comfortable than the City.

Just now after refilling the empty with distilled water so start off the engine and use OBD scan tool to monitoring the engine temp
Engine temp reaching 96c yet the fan din spin
So it started to spin when hitting 101c
After the fan spin for few times, i did inspect the suspect area for leaking
To my surprise i dont find any of it
Plus I don’t see any bubbles in the radiator so is a good sign
My friend suggested me do drive out nearby neighbourhood as maybe no pressure build up in the engine so can’t cause the leaking
Tomorrow will try again
*
See the engine oil cap got teh tarik colour or not..

Sometimes, there won't be visible leaks until you pressurise the system. Better send to pomen for checking as they will pump in pressure to rhe system, then check for leaks.

Remember to update us again once you've fixed the issue. Your case seems interesting and puzzling but my guess is there's some part inside the radiator that is clogged.

Hi guys,

so i've been away for the whole week on a road trip earlier this month. needless to say, i have parked the car outside most of the time with no shades, and driven far (and perhaps trailing lorries, trucks, what not).

I only notice today the headlights are peeling quite serious, previously i just see a spot or so. the symptom itself as you can see from the pic. good thing is, i just use my one finger to swipe and it all peel off easily, with no further area damages, just the part where it stuck out.

for those that remember, I'm not too sentimental about cars, but the current plan is to have the option to keep this car for another 4-5 years, which makes it around 15 years old by then. its still a good car, but i could upgrade anytime before 4-5 years but would like to keep the option open.

so, I've always like to keep my car in good condition. i waxed my car not for vanity but to protect the paint. though i want it to look good. my stance is I'm driving an old car, but i don't want an image where I'm driving and old, beat up car. at this stage, what should i do?

1. leave it as it is? I'm not sure how it will look 5 years down the road.
2. i know from online and TMO FB group, so offer headlight restoration services, looks good, but with 5 years timeline, not sure if restore better or keep it this way better in the long run.
3. at this stage, i don't feel like buying a new headlight cover, i dunno the price but i presume definitely more than restoration and i don't need it to be that perfect. going aftermarket worries me as well coz I've seen very very bad headlight/cover on the road. i hate it.

I suggest you to restore the headlamp... Actually can DIY but if you let ppl do, they will charge you around RM200. I did mine and so far, it had lasted more than 3 years and still no sign of fading. PM me if you want to know where I did it.

you did it outside? where?
i know can DIY, but i don't trust my skill + the hassle lol. rather get some freelance expert or what not.
i believe your restoration includes, sanding and re-coating?
*
A bomba guy did it for me in Sri Hartamas fire station 😆

His side income.. So far quite lasting.

Yes.. sanding and recoat using UV coat spray.

thanks for your suggestion!
but mine is not cracked yet and touch wood light still good.
reluctant to change light without reasons coz on the road I've seen many lights burned the cover.
I'm okay with the original lights.

not that there is no good aftermarket light, just that...i don't need to take the risk and trouble  tongue.gif
*
My advice is to stick with the original lightbulb and not to change to aftermarket..

You wouldn't know what those accessories shop will do to the wiring of your car.

Cutting wires, rewiring etc will cause damage / electrical gremlins in the future. So it is always best to keep the wiring as original as possible.

early morning took a drive up to Genting highands for the radiator test, max out temp also @101c, which is not bad without aircond switching On
*
101C max is not bad as car going on hill climb will generate more engine heat.

Actually, I think if on aircond the radiator should run cooler as both radiator and aircond fan will spin... If you turn off the aircond, only 1 fan which is the radiator fan will spin only.
