I believe all gameshop in Malaysia are selling Asian (NTSC-J) games. Can only be played on your US set if the games are region free.

Even if the rumors are true, the next Xbox will be on market as early as the end of next year. That is 1 year of waiting. And that's only if the rumors is true. If not?

depends on where the console is from - the shop can usually send it back for you to claim for warranty. chances of the xbox breaking down is very low provided your place your console in area with good ventilation (this is very important; don't block the exhaust vents), also beware of knocking/dropping it while it's running.

Yes SG set can only play NTSC-J & Region Free sets (which usually identifiable with looking at NTSC but without J/UC. PAL sets need to verify with the sellers for region free games).
