Wii U sales has quadrupled since MK8 comes out.
Wait for Smash to be released and you'll see a lot more people getting it by then..
I got myself Wii U just for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate a year ago.

Region lock.. yes..
Get the US version, there is also Europe and Japan though.
Wii U games sold here are US version btw.

Also if possible try to avoid getting the MK8 bundle unless you really want the steering wheel..
Because some weren't able to redeem the free game. Best to get other bundle and get the MK8 game separately.

Try to restart your modem first see if it works.
Is your Wifi signal low between your Wii U and the router? Try changing channel.
If still same problem there is probably something blocking you from going online on MK8.

If nothing works you have to have a Wii U ip address(reserveip for Wii U only, so you don't have to change everytime) in your router's DMZ list. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/ap...e-a-routers-dmz
I don't use it on MK8 but I've tried this before on a couple of online games I have a hard time to connect with and it works.

Congratz. I got it too a few days ago.

The tournament time will change back at 9pm again..
I barely see those who request at 10pm playing so i'll change it back to 9.
It's still the same until midnight though so feel free to join.

Most of the time i'll be waiting in the room.
If I start at 10 like before i'll wait for 1 hour for people to come and join in.
At 9 also the same i'll wait for 1 hour but with some extra time of 30 minutes this time.
