Temperature at death zone will be > -30 degrees celcius. With winds I think more than more than -50

i wonder if shaolin monks can meditate at such temperatures.

i don't understand why we need to glorify deaths like this

they died because they were asking for it in the first place

in the name of adventure konon

even their climbing parties were unable to help them

they deserve it

Sad indeed. However even after death they still guide our climbers to conquer the world highest mountain.

Can't be brave if you are not a fool. wink.gif

There are two kinds of fool:

1) Knows nothing of the danger and plows ahead regardless. Brave, and also foolish.

2) Knows exactly what are the risks involved and very much against him, and still choose to go ahead. Foolish, and also brave.

Are you a brave fool or a wise coward?

The real killer is the altitude. Thin oxygen cause the climber to get tired quickly. Your body react to the thin oxygen by reducing you metabolic rate and telling you to reduce your oxygen consumption by taking a rest. Many succumb and laid down to rest to which they never wake. You need an iron will to defy your biological system and go on.

they failed to reach the top.. still a fail

sometimes, the destination is no longer important /significant (though its a bonus) but the journey. there are many people in this life who are too chicken to do what they like and put effort in doing it. All the think is immediate reward so anything that took years to achieve (if at all).. they shun them.

Not necessary involving risky and life threatening stuff, Its those who are brave to proceed have found they might benefit/learn MORE during the process than than the outcome . That itself is a form of success as a human.

Many are alive physically but "dead inside".
Some dead but actually "lived" (or pretty much alive in other people's eyes and mind through what they did to mankind before).

sigh. regret replying to a troll, a "dead" one somemore.
