Depends on the firmware running on the box.. Though it's not advised due to possible data corruption and crashes.. Unless you plan on installing plenty HD games from the playstore, in which case you should be looking at the Nvidia Shield TV box with a 500GB hard drive... A 16GB eMMC storage should be sufficient.
[/quote] Using Himedia Q10ii now with screamyx 4mbps, running Myiptv smoothly. Running on 2gb RAM, 8GB ROM Android 4 only. Planning to run Kodi 16.1 Javris plus addons. Thinking up either upgrade to 16gb rom box but dunno which one to choose. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ May 25 2016, 08:46 AM) *The Minix "brand" has been around for a couple of years and they stand by their boxes, providing apps and firmware support. Still looking around tho.*There's an official forum specifically for Minix owners. *I've owned the Neo X7, Neo X8-H Plus and now the Neo U1. Each flagship devices and have been satisfied with their performances. In case you or others were wondering, this is not a sales pitch or some form of blind loyalty to a brand. I do my research each time and allow sufficient time after each device release to gather real world usage data, before pulling the trigger on any of my electronic devices... For more pros and cons, you should read my earlier posts and that of others on the Neo U1 or Neo X8-H Plus. If you have any specific questions pertaining to the Neo U1 that haven't already been answered in previous reviews, I'd be glad to take em IMO... Ignore. Minix price are quite stiff / should I say ard the price of himedia. might be bcoz due to its support and existance for quite some time ody. Sry to ank some noobie question here, Since you've own Neo X7, Neo H8-H and Neo U1, could u juz slightly list their pros and cons ? Tq very much. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ May 26 2016, 07:26 PM) sony w800c is fairly new, comes with androidtv 5.0 lollipop - that's new too. Nvidia shield can be mediaplayer and gaming console what's not good with it? the "top" boxes i can think of at this time are: nvidia shield minix u1 himedia q10/q5 pro google, u will find them. hard to compare direct with htpc - op sys, most apps are different. Ard RM14++ for 16gb and RM18++ for 500gb I'm still considering MinixU1 and Q10 Pro Not yet making up my mind. Using Q10ii currently, After few years still served me well. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ May 27 2016, 11:07 AM) even among the "best" boxes, there are differences, incl price. HW wise is reliable. Juz the memory. 2/8gb is limited.your q10ii is about the same as my q5ii but with a hdd slot. the hardware is reliable, will last u for some time. but 2/8gb is limited in memory - can't do some apps well e.g. popcorntime and kodi/quasar. that's where 2/16gb comes in. That's y I'm asking ard if can install apps onto sd card… |

Yalo, I wish to mount sd card as part of memory, to increase apps installation.
Saw Mibox oso not bad. But why settle for another 2g/8g? Only processor faster nia |

Better go for bigger ROM. I'm using Himedia Q10ii, preinstalled with some software, now trying to install kodi Jarvis but unable to install much due to insufficient space day.

QUOTE(plumberly @ Jul 24 2016, 10:31 AM) Yes, 101% agree with you. Nicety is a very good seller with very good customer service in mind. Even cheaper if not getting any after sales support also no point. Very impressed with his after sales service so far. If you can get a slightly cheaper product from another supplier A than Nicety, I will still recommend that you get it from nicety. His friendly and excellent after sales service is worth 1,000 times more than the RMx0 saving from other suppliers. |

How's the wifi reception ? Coz was thinking of getting another android box for my master bed room but dun wanna pull the lan cable all the way fr ground floor to 1st floor. Any comment ? Currently using my Q10ii on lan with screamyx 4mbps which is ok for the time being. but sometime lag too. My area only support to that speed only. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Jul 27 2016, 06:27 PM) Rough estimate puts it around RM1xx.. Can be purchased from online stores like Aliexpress and Lazada.. Do check around locally first.. Good to patronize local sellers and plus, it'll get delivered faster and no possibility of dealing with customs.. I dun use tm ori modem router. I changed to dlink 2750u.Yup, using the Neo U1.. Unfortunately, I can't comment too much about its wireless capabilities as mine's only a few feet away from the router and cabled.. I can say based on light reading, that it's got a decent external antenna, supports wireless AC tech. To address the network lag, I would advise you focus on improving the home LAN (wifi) connection.. Especially if still on stock TM's router. |

While still a decent Wireless N router... Depending on the required coverage area, perhaps its optimal to upgrade to one that supports the newer standard & provides better WiFi coverage? Of course, doing so, particularly for a 4Mbps line, appears like overkill... I must point out that you'll still benefit from improved LAN performance. Vocrane, any good modem / router that you'd used / tried b4 ? Might be can recommend ? |
