Tested the Amlogic S805-based MXQ player, not bad for a RM200~ android tv box.

Yes you do need a valid Astro subscription.
I have a personal media server that acts like an IPTV server. Basically it is a PC with HDMI video capture card that captures the Astro feed from the Beyond decoder and distributes it over IP to other client's around the house running XBMC/Kodi on Android TV boxes. Better quality and more reliable than "third-party" feeds. The number of channels you can watch simultaneously is only limited by the number of decoders and capture cards you have.
