Yes, it can be accessed over Wifi. However, for best results... Ethernet connection is recommended. How To. The ES File Explorer app comes in handy for searching for shared folders.

both ways, can.

usually, it is yr android accessing the files on pc attached drives.

the files accessed are then played by the android player->tv.
first, turn samba on android on (in settings). then go to pc to allow pc to be accessed (control panel, sharing...)

if necessary, just google to how to allow pc to be accessed. someone recently reported it is difficult with windows 10 which i find surprising becos doing that in vista and windows 8.1 is straightforward.
*
Successfully created drive in my pc > thus able to see files/folders stored in my tv box..

But when i try to search my pc local drive via tv box > tak jumpa pulak..

I was thinking something like tv box --> access my external HDD installed in my PC --> watch downloaded movies.

Nvrmind.. let me go thru all steps 1st before making final conclusion. I might missed out somewhere.. doh.gif

You must be doing something wrong then.... Samba allows both ways.. Sorry, but did you even visit the Google link I posted here previously?  There's a post right in the first page of the results that outlines (with pictures) how to setup and access files within a shared folder in Windows. Accessing windows shared folders with ES file Explorer app is pretty straightforward afterwards.. No need to completely spoon feed ya.

Connect both pc & box to the same router, turn in network discovery, automatic setup & connect.. Turn on file & printer sharing... Navigate to desired folder on PC, properties... Enable sharing.. Advanced sharing... Password protection... Security.. Etc... Launch ES File Explorer on box, scan for Windows shared folders.. Select IP address of PC on home network.. Login if required.. Profit!!!
Yeah, you'll require a DNS service that supports Netflix.. Setup the TV or your router with said DNS.. Launch Netflix... Login.. Profit..
*
Hahaha.. I visited your goggle link but then again I tak sabar punya orang.. Baru 1st part baca terus setup then later realized that I was doing it wrongly.. doh.gif

Later go back I want to re-try again step by step.. Confirm I can do it.. Profit..!! notworthy.gif

yes, that is the objective, wireless. and that's what i have been talking about!

what app or feature on the android u use to access the pc?

i have not tried using es file explorer.

i have always use the device's native "media/search" option.

diff devices and diff brands may call it differently, but i m sure it is there.
*
Am using ES explorer.. that's why I said I must missed out something.. Search function option was there but I just ignored it.. Haiyaa shakehead.gif

Let me go thru again.. thumbup.gif

You r welcome... smile.gif
I'm running Windows 10 Home Edition and here's a screenshot of the settings you need to duplicate on your PC.

[attachmentid=5702268]

As you can see... Just need to enable options in "Advanced Sharing Center" & the Folder (you want shared) sharing properties. After doing the above...On the android end...
*Open ES File Explorer or any file explorer which supports such. But for this example, I'm using ES.
*Right side, under the Network Tab, Hit LAN....
*Then "Scan" on the bottom and wait for your PC (IP address) to be discovered on the network (Should be fast).
*Select the PC, login if required with your PC's username and password.
*If successful, you'll see something like below;

[attachmentid=5702367]

The rest I believe is self-explanatory... Stock TM router + Windows 10 PC + Nexus 10 (Wireless connection).
*
QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 5 2016, 04:24 PM)
out of curiosity, i just tried using es file explorer.

same like native feature, it works too.
*
QUOTE(voncrane @ Jan 5 2016, 07:16 PM)
Precisely.... Since at least Windows XP (maybe even earlier), there has been native support for folder sharing over the home network. IMO, ES File Explorer is like the champion of file explorers in terms of pricing (Free) & features. So when people report that they can't access folders & files over their home network, usually there's a little hitch somewhere.
*
Oh My God.. It works..!!!

Try using voncrane method but didn't work.. Thus I open my drive > properties > security > enabled full control > sharing > VOILA..!!!

Now I'm so happy with my box.. Time to find good repo for kodi pulak.. Wakakakaka

Currently am using stock orange unifi router which support 802.11n.. should I stick to it or replace.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Anyway, anybody here have apk file for changing metro layout launcher? Previously using hphtvlauncherex but after reset my box to factory setting all wiped off.. Now using stock metro launcher which is suxx bug time.. cry.gif

considering the cost of a new router vs the cost of all the other equipment whose performance depend on it, best to change.

u will see improvement in stability, max speed and wifi coverage.
*
Was thinking to buy something like tp link powerline since I no need to pull cable from one end to the other.. Using whatever it is I still need to change the stock router for better performance.

QUOTE(voncrane @ Jan 6 2016, 10:50 AM)
The method I posted works... Noticed I mentioned going into the folder's (aka drive) properties after setting up in the advanced sharing centre... Which you did.. I purposely didn't list the entire process step by step as it feels better when you discover the rest by yourself..  rclxms.gif. There'll be a noticeable difference when you change the stock router, how much, depends on the capabilities of the new router. More features = higher cost. As for launchers, there are more than a few options in the Play Store. Search for "launchers" & take your pick..
*
Yeah Thanks bro.. I mean based from your guideline then I'm able to discover on how on sharing process then leads to taking full control.. Thanks a lot bro.. You did provide me good lesson.. notworthy.gif

Launcher part I did install square.home.tablet but then the screen become smaller.. Nvrmind.. still have lots of time to explore..

Thanks again all sifus for the best explanation and guidance.. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

i think the powerlines need to buy in pairs, one pair for one device, right? cost?

may be better to get a good router first, say rm500?
*
yup.. in pairs..

RM500 for router is out of my budget right now.. Maybe find some tplink router 1st just to replace stock router..

Read in KLseet on tweaking th tplink router.. Machiam syok je.. sweat.gif

Well, it's for those who'd prefer to launch an app with a easy UI, pick a show or movie & instant streaming.. No worrying about pre-downloads, dealing with addons, repositories, dead links or piracy. Yeah, some people would prefer not to pirate content, so services like netflix & iflix give them legal options.
*
netflix for easy access.. Kodi need to grease elbow a bit.. Hahahaha

Apparently I still unable to configure on how to use kodi until i open wiki.. Choiii.. so easy..

ToniV instead of mx box why don't u try M8S? specs quite good except for nand flash la..

Appreciate your advice  notworthy.gif
It seems that I am on the stock factory firmware KOT49H.20141122
(Weird that the check for update via the pre-installed update app did not detect there were updates which is why I had wrongly assumed I was on the latest firmware)

Will do a clean flash to FW008 (20151231) once I get it downloaded.
Hope that fixes my problem.
*
Good to hear that..

Just to let you know FW008 had some issues with youtube apps.. I had issues where connection failed for youtube. OR maybe it's just me.. sweat.gif

And also on A2 lite remote while using Kodi. Seems that it has it's own life.. Gerak2 sendiri wehh..

iflix Subs FIXED: Simply keep exiting/restarting the iflix movie playback until the subtitle box appears at the bottom right!  biggrin.gif

So meaning u need to exit > restart the iflix movie in order to get the subtitles box? Only need to do once or everytime u start iflix?

When the iflix movie plays and only shows the single scrollbar at the bottom, just click back to the iflix movie page and then click play again. I had to try 2 or 3 times before the subtitle button appeared at the bottom right.

I have no issue with the subs box.. I only don't like the 'black box' behind the subtitles.. doh.gif

Minix restructured the OTA update process and in so doing, dropped access to the older app & required a manual flash of a later released firmware containing the updated OTA app & support. Coming from a much older firmware, it's recommended you perform a clean flash using a PC. Also make sure you aren't supposed to initially flash a particular firmware before flashing the latest firmware.
There's an updated YouTube for Google/Android TV that works.. I believe it's "YouTube_1.0.5.6.apk". Google or search on Minix forum for the download link.. It's within the Minix Neo X8-H Plus sub-forum.
*
Yes master.. Installed the apk file from the forum and it works perfectly.. notworthy.gif
