QUOTE(llaw @ Mar 5 2014, 10:08 AM)
On my previous ride, I did measured the brake rotor temperature on various brake pads...
1. Pumatec 480C - measured about 280C, overheated + smoke (worst brake pad tongue.gif)
2. Ferodo 400C - measured about 320C, still grippy
3. Rapidstop 550C - measured about 350C, very good grip till lock tire...no ABS mar!

I did the brake fade test by doing 0 to 80km/h then 80km/h to 0 for 3-4 times.
Next time I want to try EBC Green pads on my Inspira biggrin.gif
*
oo thanks for the input...

as for rapidbald... never again la...
for further details can discuss on TT/pm lol.

EBC green... after this morning's experience... i actually have doubts if green can withstand the braking requirements...
while i have never faded the greens on my iswara, this car is around twice the hp and almost 3 times the torque figures with about 300kg+ additional weight compared to my iswara.

while the pads are indeed rated for 200bhp cars, and official temperature is 200+ Celcius (that's the temperature that EBC guarantees, not lol 550C), i'm thinking that the inspira may perhaps require even greater braking force than what green can offer.

points that caused such doubts:
- greens are cheaper than akebono (if price were to determine braking quality, the greens are in a lot of doubts lol)
- regular driving to TPM for the iswara with non vented discs (they are only x drilled/slotted, i doubt that helps in cooling at all), is about 100-150Celcius, the inspira can yield over 150 (considering the time it had to cool before i took the reading) with the same driving.
this would mean the inspira is actually producing much more braking heat despite having larger ventilated discs than the iswara.

i'm wondering, would red stuff be adequate then? although those need a bit of warming up haha
then again ebc claims that warm up are not required, i personally think best to keep it slow until some heat is generated since it is primarily ceramic based

QUOTE(botack @ Mar 5 2014, 11:07 AM)
stock suspension also you experience oversteer? shocking.gif  shocking.gif
*
hmm maybe it's due to being stock suspension that's why it actually oversteers easier? (rear ARB aside)
i think the main contribution of the oversteering is from the front suspension nose diving too much... (never ever fender rubbed, which is nice LOL!) and of course the accompanied body roll (and here i commend our stock seats, my ass didn't flew to the center console/side windows thumbup.gif ) while cornering over 140kph at besraya (will take 2 ish lanes depending on the traffic) minor out in out apex curves.

if i didn't practice racing lines and corner like that, either the asc saves me or i have the tail crash the divider which i experienced during firestorm test while at saga TT sweat.gif

btw i love that highway for cornering; very challenging for fatter/heavier cars as you actually have to take your cornering g's/car weight into considering regardless if the car by itself can handle the corner or not (tires/suspensions)
never experienced such requirements for the iswara at all, only needed to care about the car's own performance sweat.gif

you referred to this right? http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Yokohama/ADVAN-Sport.htm

however check this out:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Yokohama...-Sport-V105.htm
this is why it piqued my interest tongue.gif

btw it seems like advan sport v105 is marketed with an additional s in the UK? lol
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Yokohama...Sport-V105S.htm

only 5 reviews with all positive. i don't care about wear/comfort since the ad08r is more durable than i thought, not to mention it's comfort was rather OK and i believe the asymmetric tread pattern should ease off the nvh a lot more than the ad08r would.

there's 2 megane RS that reviewed although all the reviews didn't left comments except this:
QUOTE
Although it does not belong to the premium class it certainly is, Yokohama is the top of the tire and I would recommend it to anyone. With Yokohama can not miss whatever he took. I specifically currently driving the model ADVAN Sport V105 measuring 205/55/16 and so far have proved to be very reliable tires on wet and dry. soft are excellent road holding, something like that you are riding a train on rails, fuel is a solid yet just to see how long it will last ...

shit english but eh can get the gist of it lol

can go with stock rims wub.gif wub.gif
cc5 when you finish ah? unsure.gif

it's rare as f*** to see yokohama in the lead when it comes to wet laugh.gif

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...DVAN+Sport+V105
btw from the video, the advan v105 had the reviewer smiling with the bmw roar sounding the best... that's huge plus in my book wink.gif

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Mar 5 2014, 02:16 AM)
hmm the Proton Inspira stock brakes, they are decent for daily driving, however once you really start pushing them... it's just not enough ^^;
Just experienced minor brake fading (which it was able to recover, however the brakes were really numb after that) on the car after a spirited drive to work at TPM

it just made me realized that the car is so much heavier (while being a lot faster) than the iswara... of course the brakes would be stressed sad.gif
i inspected the front wheels once i reach my work place, there's still some smoke from the pads and it smells DAMN AWFUL lol

on average it used to take 20-25 minutes to travel from my place to TPM, now it is taking between 15-20 minutes.
it's also interesting that i actually find the new car being more tail happy than the hatchback iswara; my only guess is due to the much faster cornering speeds while having a damn heavy chassis provided too much cornering g-force/momentum into the corner

having the rear screeching so loudly while i have the rear swung out with the ASC does show up once a while; oddly it doesn't happen on every tire screech/corners which proves that the system is not intrusive at all in putting a full stop on you having a fun time wink.gif

it's a real pity that i did not brought the infrared digital thermometer to measure how hot the brakes were cooking. Would be nice to know what's the fading temperature of these Japan made Akebono's wink.gif

Happy Birthday ! I think same happen to me after keep braking when go down genting blink.gif

another 1, can try oso? tongue.gif
http://www.mudah.my/BENDIX+METAL+KING+TITA...NT-20071184.htm

because thinking to use this 1 later.. previously use it at proton cars, ok lor for normal drive..
*
This one starting very good, but after 20k km used in my Savvy, it seem no different with others brake pad and proton SC said actually it didn't need to replace so soon but I just replace it at 30k km.

http://www.drivingfast.net/car-control/oversteer.htm

Sporty front wheel drive cars are more likely to experience oversteer than a standard car due to the vehicle setup. Dial out the inherent understeer tendencies of a front wheel drive car using clever engineering, and the result is a better 'turn in' and an increased ability to oversteer due to the naturally light rear. In this case, it is usually possible to accelerate out of the oversteer situation, using the rearward weight transfer to actively increase levels of grip at the back. Front wheel drive cars are especially prone to lift off oversteer due to the forward weight transfer combined with light rear end.
