Thanks for the advise. Imagine my wife can feel the difference in handling not just me. The leg room is definitely better in cerato. I was driving in okish road so can't really tell. But it definitely nosier than ford and m3. I suspect it's due to the 17in rim and tyre profile.

Price wise ford low spec is cheaper by 5k compared to kia. Anyway I guess I will pay ford another visit

If you like to drive fast occassionally, the Focus. As mentioned by others, it is true that at higher speeds, the Focus is very stable. In comparison, you may feel other cars losing control at the same speed. Also, it's a CBU from Thailand and the price is very competitive if you compare with other CKD locally-assembled models.

How much is the Cerato 2.0? Personally I would not consider Korean and will take any Japanese over Koreans. I don't like the exterior looks of the Cerato though I understand it's all personal.

The black certain looked much better than the yellow. How is the acceleration? On paper it is 6.5s for 0-100km/h. I haven't really driven a car with such low figures before. Must be a thrilling and enjoyable ride to be behind the steering wheel of that powerful vehicle. The chassis and suspension setup of the ST must be different from the Focus Sport I guess. The exhaust pipe also looked one of a kind with the piece at the middle.

Ford appears to be the most popular continental brand(non-local, non-Japanese) in Malaysia. In the latest sales figures published on Motortrader, Ford recorded the highest sales for a continental from January to July.

The Koreans are close behind, but the French are performing very badly, with Peugeot recording very low sales and Renault almost at the bottom.

It looks like the Ford is already the most popular brand having taken the top spot for highest sales in the "continental" category. THe closest is Volkswagen, surprisingly. Don't know which is the best selling VW model that may have contributed to the high sales as there are few VWs on the roads, even the cheapest VW model Polo.

Peugeot is really a letdown, despite the cheap 408 and the small 208, the sales are very poor indeed. It is surely getting colder by the day. Not to mention Renault, despite the new sedan model which came out not too long ago(forgot the model), the response is lukewarm being at the bottom. I would expect resale and spare parts to be a problem in the long run for this cold brand.

I too think the Fiesta would have contributed most to the sales of the Ford brand, being the cheapest Ford model.

It is not so much about Electronic Stability Control(ESC) as the car is moving very slowly up the gravel road. It's more to the loss of traction between the tyres and the ground which consists of small tiny stones and rocks. IN simpler terms, there is not enough friction between the surface of the tyres and the ground.

My friend's CX-5 also experienced an almost similar situation when going up the steep gravel slope.

You can imagine the road to be something like this, except that it's not a mud road but consists of mostly small rocks and sand.

On this type of road, traction control will also fail.

I was hoping one day that the Focus ST will come in Automatic transmission(don't mind if it's Powershift) and in a sedan form. But at RM200k it is still too costly.

ryder, your hope sort of materialized liao.... u can get a Ford 2.0 Ecoboost + Powershift in a sedan form...... it come with 240hp & 340Nm......just that the size is bigger then Focus but it is much much spacious.....    brows.gif

Yes, I know the Ford Mondeo. The Mondeo is a nice car, the upcoming new Mondeo is much better looking than the current Mondeo and is certainly an improvement, at least in the looks department. Somehow at close to RM200k it is a bit more than I am willing to pay. Let just see how it goes. Currently at my level, it is a bit of a stretch to go with a RM200k vehicle. If up to RM150k it may be still manageable.

Apart from the price, I do think the Focus being a smaller C-segment vehicle will have better handling around the corners for those who like a more spirited drive. Though the Mondeo is certainly not lacking when it comes to straight-line acceleration(if I'm not mistaken the 0-100km/h acceleration of the Mondeo is better than the Focus). The Mondeo would be perfect for those who like a bit more space and a more refined interior (more classy leather and dashboard trimmings etc.).

Mondeo's handling is not too bad, but if it wear a 235/40/18 shoe + Bilstein B8 Sprint u will be surprise it handling around the corners...well now u can get the current Mondeo with at least 15K discount as I remember I saw it on newspaper recently.... of course if u don't mind getting the current version la..... but if u want the latest which is the Fusion...then it is close to 200K liao...shd be coming in next year, I guess.
*
Good to know about the RM15k discount for the Mondeo. There are very few Mondeos on the roads if compared to the Focus. Mainly because of the price tag, and there are cheaper D-segment vehicles mainly from Japanese competitors. However, the new Fusion is certainly interesting and some people may not mind paying close to RM200k for this beauty. If it's around RM170k the Fusion would bring some serious competition to the Accords and Camrys.

You are correct that the Mondeo is a more powerful vehicle when compared to the Focus due to the 2.0 Ecoboost engine. Official 0-100km/h time for the Mondeo is 7.8s and as usual, owners' claimed times are a bit quicker at 6.8 ~ 6.9s.
*
Yes, I'm not surprised as well. The Mondeo has a more powerful acceleration than the Focus. I had a chance to meet a Mondeo owner once and he mentioned during hard acceleration his body is being pushed to the seat, and he is amazed at the power of the Ecoboost engine. In contrast, he said the Focus felt "tame" when compared to the power of the Mondeo. Guess the 0-100km/h figures do show that the Mondeo is a more powerful car. If it is capable of achieving sub 7.0s in 0-100km/h, then it can be considered as a powerful car already.

but it is not fair to compare Focus with Mondeo, NA and TC is totally different feel especially the pickup and low end torque.  I bring this topic up is becoz of your hope to see the sedan form of Focust ST in MY  biggrin.gif
But, one thing in common for Ford - the driving dynamics is pretty good.
*
Have to sit in a turbo-charged vehicle to have a feel of the power in acceleration I guess. The torque of the Mondeo is amazingly high, much higher than the Focus. That may have contributed to the different feel in pick up. And yes, driving dynamics for Focus sedans is marvellous!

Tried disabling Traction Control after much talk here. No difference on the straights but in corners can feel the car is going slightly faster. With the higher speed, the car feels unstable and shaky, and I have to step on the brakes to slow down the vehicle. Previously with Traction Control on, there isn't any need to step on the brakes even though the vehicle is taking a corner at high speed. It appears that with Traction Control, the feature might have applied some brakes to the car during high speed cornering.

Good stuff this Traction Control or Torque Vectoring, whatever these features are. Really helps stabilise the car and promote handling.

Does anybody know if Ford is still selling the Focus 1.5 Ecoboost. If yes, what is the current lowest selling price at the moment?

No, you'll have to find used units.

Thanks. Recently visited a 2nd hand car dealer to view the Ford Focus 1.5 Ecoboost Sport and the unit is an accident-unit with touched-up paint at the front bonnet with botchy repairs as the parking sensors at the front bumper can be seen to be not installed properly with some jutting out. Not sure what kind of damage was hidden underneath. Very risky.

But i have to say the interior of the car is very nice especially the black leather seats, steering wheel and controls which look all elegant and high quality. The disadvantage of the risk that comes with 2nd hand cars is huge and it is too bad that Ford is not selling anymore new cars for this particular model.

Care to share where you found it? I came across one in carlist for only RM60k, sounds sketchy as heck.

The 1.5 EB Focus is quite rare in the used market as not many were sold in the first place.

This one. The seller was just talking crap all the way. I asked for service records and he said he doesn't have it as the owner prefer to service outside due to convenience. I knew he was talking through his nose as the service at Ford SC is FOC for the first 6 services if I am not mistaken.

The interior of the car is very new. Only the front bonnet had signs of accident that is for sure.

I guess there are not many reasons people are selling the car after using it for just 2 to 3 years. One of them is the love of speed. With the pedigree of this car, I assume most would drive fast and furious style, and after crashing the car(usually major), the car would be sent for repair and later put up for sale.

There was a black coloured Mk3.5 car on Mudah.com and it hasn't been sold for months. I didn't bother to look because the used car dealer is in Johor (too far), and the number plate (SAC xxxx) and black colour is not to my taste.
