Hi guys,

I just received my ford focus S+ candy red today. Just to check those with 2014 model, how many USB port you guys have? Those with 2013 model should have 2 USB port - one inside the glove compartment and the other inside the arm rest right? But mine only 1 - inside the arm rest and there none at the glove compartment. Is it because 2014 model only have 1 USB port??? I already told my SA about this and he say he will come back to me tomorrow .. zzz

Another thing is my SA told me to before how to check the your car manufacture year by looking at the tag at your seat belt - if your is manufacture in 2013 it will show year 2013... but today when i checked with him, the year is Oct 2013 instead of 2014!! When I told him this, he have no idea and ask me to complain to Sime Darby... However under my car card and Puspakom cert, it wrote Car made in 2014... Anyone know how to check the car manufacture date from the car itself instead looking at the seat belt tag??

Thanks for the info.. my car really manufacture in 30 Oct 2013 but under my Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia it says Tahun Dibuat: 2014... zzzz

I wanto ask u all about the immobilizer.
How does it work? I tried remove the key from the car when it is running and managed to drive for few houses and nothing happened.
Shouldn't the car stop without the key in the car?

Exactly right. It would be terrifying if the engine just cuts off if the car no longer detects the key fob; eg. when the key  fob battery runs out while you are doing 160km/h.

Does anyone know any mechanic or workshop that are familiar with Ford cars but is not a Ford dealer ?

I was hoping one day that the Focus ST will come in Automatic transmission(don't mind if it's Powershift) and in a sedan form. But at RM200k it is still too costly.

Apart from the price, I do think the Focus being a smaller C-segment vehicle will have better handling around the corners for those who like a more spirited drive. Though the Mondeo is certainly not lacking when it comes to straight-line acceleration(if I'm not mistaken the 0-100km/h acceleration of the Mondeo is better than the Focus). The Mondeo would be perfect for those who like a bit more space and a more refined interior (more classy leather and dashboard trimmings etc.).

Yes, I'm not surprised as well. The Mondeo has a more powerful acceleration than the Focus. I had a chance to meet a Mondeo owner once and he mentioned during hard acceleration his body is being pushed to the seat, and he is amazed at the power of the Ecoboost engine. In contrast, he said the Focus felt "tame" when compared to the power of the Mondeo. Guess the 0-100km/h figures do show that the Mondeo is a more powerful car. If it is capable of achieving sub 7.0s in 0-100km/h, then it can be considered as a powerful car already.

I noticed that the Mondeo is not being sold in Thailand, which is weird.

Does anybody know what transmission will the new Mondeo be getting? In a review, it was said that the new Mondeo will be getting the "Ford's latest PowerShift automatic gearbox", though I'm not sure if it is the same 6-gear Powershift that is currently in the Mondeo.

Does the current Mondeo exhibit the same jerks and grinding sound as the Ford Focus since it is on the same Powershift gearbox as well?

Thanks for the response. Have you driven the current Mondeo before? Good to hear that even though the current Mondeo is in Powershift(wet), there are very minimal jerks and grinding sound when compared to the Focus.

So the new Mondeo will not come with the dual-clutch Powershift but a conventional 6 speed Automatic Selectshift with paddle shifter? Sounds good. Not too sure about the performance of this new gearbox though. If the gear shifting is smooth, quiet and seamless, it should be a winner with the sexy good looks. It is only the price that is the factor now, considering it is about RM25k costlier than most high-spec D-segments from the Japanese equivalents. Though there is no denying the higher levels of technology, quality, class and refinement in the Mondeo when compared to the Accord and Camrys.

Apologies on hijacking this thread a bit. Didn't know you are a Mondeo owner. Not too sure about the GTDi 240 variant. Is it the current model? Do you find it a quiet car in the suspension noises? Although the Focus is fairly quiet, the sound from the suspension when going over bad surfaced roads is quite loud, all the thuds and knocks. Also, some minor rattling sound from the dashboard when going over bad roads. I hope the Mondeo is quieter than the Focus in all areas with superior NVH.

The Mondeo may be super cold, but I do see some Mondeos around although rare. And yes, Autoworld forum has gone very quiet since few years ago.
