obviously the old double clutch cannot be improved further. that's the reason why 2016 model has 6AT. logic 101.

For the new Ford Focus, according to one of the service advisors who has test driven the car, it is using a wet clutch. Acceleration is said to be powerful but quite similar to the current model.

1) what is the current market price for 2nd hand?

2) Having ABS Break issue on back right tyre, display on dashboard, started few months ago, 2 weeks after coming back from the factory from fixing the clutch (will talk about that later) dealing with the Head office in Malaysia Muah Johor Baru, where this car has been service there all its life.

Ok now to this epic clutch issue, on day one when it was driven form the show room, we notice her was issue with the clutch, when switching from gear 1 to 2 going uphill, the car will shake and stuff, very noticeable, they keep refusing to fix it, but after 3+ years of complaining they finally fixed it now its good, but then as above there was this ABS issue

Seriously? RM18,000 for the steering rack if it fails? For those Mk3 owners who have replaced the steering rack, usually at what mileage does it fail? The steering rack should have the standard 3-year or 5-year warranty isn't it?

If the steering rack happens to fail and it's not covered under warranty, that's a lot of money to spend just to get the car moving again. Perhaps there cost of replacement is cheaper outside, or only certain parts of the steering rack can be replaced instead of the whole assembly etc.?

Regarding the clutch pack, actually there are hidden costs apart from the standard RM6,000. I was informed by the service adviser that there are 2 items not included in the clutch pack that may fail, and these 2 items are not covered under the clutch pack warranty. They are the clutch bearing which costs RM1,500 and shift fork which costs RM3,700. So in addition to the RM6,000 of the clutch pack, there is also an additional RM5,200 if both clutch bearing and shift fork fail in tandem with the clutch pack.

Scary. It isn't a surprise why interest on Ford passenger cars is rather lukewarm when compared to other common Japanese makes.

RM27k only? Good gosh that is unexpected. As bad as the 2nd hand price can be, I was expecting something like RM35k. My 5+ year old Nissan Sylphy bought at about the same price as the Ford Focus fetched RM62k (when I traded the Nissan Sylphy to buy the Ford Focus). At RM27k it is less than half the price I got for the Nissan Sylphy, both cars bought around the same price and at the same year.

Anyway thanks for the information. At least I will not expect anymore surprises after this when I intend to sell the car in 2 or 3 more years to come. At that time the 2nd hand price may have dropped to below RM10k already which is a bargain.

Was busy with work and traveling so seldom check this forum these days. I have mentioned earlier in this thread that i asked the service advisor at PJ service centre and also called Ford Sime Darby Malaysia customer service about 3 years ago on this warranty issue, whether warranty will be void if the car is sent for service outside of Ford authorized service centres. The answer given at that time was yes, warranty will be void. Reading some of the responses here by other Focus owners suggest that there is indeed double standard. Hence, I wrote in to Ford Sime Darby Auto Connexion Malaysia to ask on this same question. At first they replied via email only asking for my car registration number. They did not answer my question. After about 1 week i replied the email, they didn't respond to my email buy call me instead. Verbally the lady on the phone(from Sime Darby Auto Connexion) mentioned that warranty will not be void if the car is serviced outside. I am just a bit wary because they appear to be reluctant to put it in black and white. Meaning their confirmation is verbally and not written black and white via email which seems to be little unprofessional in my view. In this sense i think there is a possibility they may, i repeat *may* overturn that verbal confirmation which isn't official.

Anyway just for  everyone's information. I am not particularly satisfied with the way Sime Darby is running the show here particularly on vague warranty claims which do not appear to be a confirmed or certain policy printed in say a document or letter etc. I am still undecided whether to continue servicing my car at authorized service centres although they have verbally confirmed on the warranty policy since it is not an official confirmation and there is a risk of them overruling or not honoring it in the future.

They have confirmed on the years together with the mileage(whoever comes first) warranty for the clutch and TCM but I have forgotten, though i have recorded the information in my notebook at the office when the Customer service called me.

I didn't specifically ask on engine mount replacement but this was the response I got via email:-

In this regard, we would like to advise you on the following in bold :-



1.  For warranty claims on the clutch, please confirm whether the warranty period is 5 years or 7 years. Also, please clarify if the owner needs to service the car at authorized Ford service centres to be entitled for the warranty claim. Can the owner still claim on the clutch warranty if the car is serviced at workshops outside of Ford (non-authorized Ford service centres)

As for the clutch, your Vehicle is entitle for 7 years / 160,000km (whichever comes first) warranty period. Should you have any issue with your clutch within the said warranty period, please visit our Ford authorized service centre so that they can work towards resolving your vehicle issue regardless the Vehicle is serviced at Non-authorized Ford service centres.

2. For the Transmission Control Module (TCM) warranty, it is valid for 10 years. Please confirm if owners would be entitled for the warranty claim if the vehicle is serviced at workshops outside of Ford (non-authorized Ford service centres).

As for the TCM, your Vehicle is entitle for 10 years / 240,000km (whichever comes first) warranty period. Should you have any issue with your TCM within the said warranty period, please visit our Ford authorized service centre so that they can work towards resolving your vehicle issue regardless the Vehicle is serviced at Non-authorized Ford service centres.

Hi guys. Need to change wheel bearing driver side front and also the engine mounting.

Car already out of warranty. More than 5 years old and 120k++ mileage.

Ford service center JB quote RM600++ for the bearing and RM700++ for the mounting. Reasonable? Or should just go to other workshop?

Do you guys know where i can make an official complaint to Ford customer care? For your info, i own a ford focus MK3 and I've sent it to Ford Kinrara for repair on the 28th Jan due to my gear can't engage to reverse.

So on the 28th Jan, the service advisor at Ford Kinrara told me that they need to change the TCM and it is still under warranty (10 years for TCM), took the whole day to change and at the end of the day, told me that they need further checking as the problem still persists. To cut the story short, so for the whole 1 month++ until today(keep checking, dismantling the gearbox, send report to HQ etc), they have submitted the report to their HQ and waiting for the warranty dept to verify if this is under warranty claim.

I've been calling them almost every single day for an update, and they keep saying waiting for HQ to reply and when i ask the magic question "When the car is ready?", they will say need to check with HQ. Imagine i'm without my car for the whole 1 month ++ and i still need to wait again. If under warranty, then they need to wait the insurance guy to verify the claim, then order parts, then wait for parts etc - it will be another 2 months??

So do you guys have an idea where and who shall i complaint to and escalate this issues?

Need to replace the tyres soon (205/60 R16) and I was just wondering if anybody has tried the Continental MC6, UC6, Dunlop and Michelin equivalent. I think the Michelin PS4 does not come in the size of 205/60 R16 so it will likely need to be the Primacy 3ST. Although PS4 is claimed to have excellent handling and steering control, the noise may be a problem.

Not too sure if Dunlop is of any good. Currently on Yokohama Bluearth AE50 and no major complaints but it's quite a noisy tyre and the tread on the front tyres is getting looking worn now. Primacy 3ST is supposed to be a quiet tyre which is good but not sure if handling is acceptable (although I don't drive fast these days and mostly sedated drives but still, sharp steering is preferred). The Continental MC6 is supposed to have good handling and looks interesting.

Read good things about the Potenza RE003 but unfortunately it doesn't come in the size of the Ford Focus sedan. I presume you are driving the hatchback.

Only the Bridgestone Turanza ER33 and ER300 can fit the sedan. ER33 sounds good "Designed for Luxury Performance Cars"

My 2014 Focus MK3 currently suffering from a failed ABS Module, code U3000. Not the ABS sensor yeah; the Module. Can still drive normally, but without ABS or any electronic stability control or safety systems.

Seems like a common issue for Fords; Bengkel Excellent Auto quoted to me RM8000 for a new unit... not sure how much SDAC quoted.

Anybody faced a similar issue here?
