hye. new owner of frozen white focus s+ here. biggrin.gif
got mine 2nd at 16k mileage 2 months ago and it's due for service next week. i live in sg buloh so i wanna ask if the penchala SC any good?

btw, i have no major problem with the car yet. the jerk doesn't bother me at all and grinding only occurred once for 2 seconds so far. it's a really fun car. thumbup.gif

That's absolutely correct that it's overall a very fun to drive car (if you enjoy driving) apart from the low speed jerking and shuddering.. Do you mind to share how much you bought the 2nd hand Focus S+ for that mileage and the year please? Thanks.

it was a 2013 make but registered on march 2014. i bought it for 88k OTR (is that a good price?). was planning to buy a new one but apparently they ran out of stock and have no plan to restock due to the incoming facelifted model. would have wait for that instead but the rear styling really turned me off. tongue.gif

is it true that the new tcm update will result in reduced accelerating power?

No i dont i think so, last week my s+ broke down when suddenly it got no traction. So towed the car to ford Melawati luckily was nearby when it happen. Technician mention the car tcm not functioning and need to change. Now the car feel less jerking and I assume they changed the tcm with the latest version.

my car rarely jerks so i asked the sc not to update them as some says throttle response feels lagging after update

Have you update your TCM?

Did you experience accelerating power reduced?

For me definitely yes....

After the TCM update:-

Strange noise from DCT....

Slow Throttle responses... Instant fuel high reading but the car move slowly....

If you sudden floor the throttle... the car will experience "turbo lag" .... It will down shift... hold the rpm for around 0.5 to 1 sec... then only start to accelerate

May be due to dct oil seal leakage again which cause slippage... already schedule with SC to check after CNY....

done 40k service yesterday. didn't update tcm just changed wiper and battery.

but SA said my car dct also shows oil leaking signs. is it serious? because i'm not sure when i'll be able to leave the car at SC. hmm.gif

I am planning to get a second hand ford focus. Which reliable place I can seek?
*
i always look in mudah and carlist to find those verified and trusted badge. tongue.gif
other than that you should actually go and inspect the car yourself.
or if you got budget just wait for the facelift.

intending to keep it for a long time since it's my first car. but if i encounter major problems in the near future, might have to consider selling after the warranty period is over. right now facing the transmission oil leaking issue. called SC Jln Ipoh and they asked me to walk-in 8am tomorrow to check. sweat.gif

i tried calling ford klang because they said the queue there is shorter but the operator doesn't even know what transmission is thus i don't think it's safe to let them handle my car. i said transmission oil leaking then she said "transmission? engine oil ah?" doh.gif

The car is surely a tough nut to crack isn't it? I'm waiting for someone to post photos showing the Focus crashing into something rather than something crashes onto the Focus. Then we'll see if the front portion of the Focus is as strong as the rear portion of the car. From the photos shown here, the strength of the car surely shines through.

Maybe you should try crashing your car onto another vehicle, say a Volvo and see if the front of the Ford or the rear of the Volvo will show more damage? Just kiddin'.

The most cool effect is when you turn it on, the headlamp actually calibrate itself upwards and then point it downwards to level it.. that is cool... lol... although it is not full adaptive auto leveling but the effect when it first turn on is cool  cool2.gif

Nothing from the same class beats FF in term of body rigidity, engine durability and many others but too bad its bad transmission is a BIG downside. Just like a muscular man with a weak kidney. Can you imagine how terrified I was when driving back from northern Thailand in a jerky car? The car jerks when speed is >80 km/h. It took me 5 days to reach JB....lol
*
that's a whole another level of jerking compared to the mk3 focus. i don't know if i'm not sensitive or anything because i rarely got this jerking problems everyone was talking about. only when i made a bad throttle input that i experienced this. i'm not defending ford and i am not a ford fanboy but either the owners are too sensitive or the DCT is designed to make bad drivers look bad. not to say that i'm an excellent driver but you at least need to know how your ride works right? all said, it's the thing in the past now. no more DCT for newer models. bye.gif

*p/s: if you dig around you'll find owners of CVT that complaint about jerking problems too. it's a world full of jerks we live in.

20 more horse diff unnoticeable?
*
only 10hp difference. mk3 is 170, mk3.5 is 180. and because its using conventional auto vs dct i doubt that the performance will be too noticeable.

Finally after 6 month of waiting , I'm next on the list to replace my clutch. Mine is a 3 years car being sitting at home mostly coz I don't enjoy driving it with clutch issue.

Did anyone complain about the long waiting list? Got any compensation?

I'm trying to write a complain letter to ford US n see.
*
why did you change it? clutch wear out?

Gear box oil leak into clutch, then they said my gearbox keep pressing on my clutch.

A 10 to 20min drive , the clutch was pressed 600 plus times.
so they told me it need to replace.
*
that sounded serious and 6 months waiting list is quite unacceptable. i'm lucky that they found out about my flywheel oil seal showing signs of leaking earlier. if not might run into some trouble. sweat.gif

So indeed they want it for 7 days lol.. This time I will also want then to check on some defects which I start to noticed when hitting 32K mileage such as strong vibration from front suspension or steering wheel as well as the darn auto cruise doesn't work at times the button lol..
*
mine they also said 7 days but complete in 4 days. i guess they just said it to lengthen their deadline so they can do it with no rush.

Mine finally came out after 2 weeks, even though they said 1 week.
Been driving for a few weeks now, including outstation. So far so good.

On a separate note, the new Civic priced very competitively. Looks like Ford will be hit unless they offer good discounts.
*
i was contemplating on whether to wait for new civic or buy mk3 focus or wait for mk3.5 focus last year then the CVT really turned me off. otherwise it is a good car but the coupe version is most good looking i think.

Hello.. Proud to be new owner of Ford MK3.5 .... first time FORD owner and the transmission better compare to the previous Dual Clutch..  smile.gif

not better. just more reliable. DCT still has the upper hand on driving pleasure.
