Bro,

How much is the cost to change your battery, I have change once under warranty, today i asked SC they quoted me at about RM800++ rclxub.gif

Its has been long since im not updating on my fofo sport+ here

On last year July, my car ABS light on, city stop not function and HSA not function, car warded nearly 2 month at PJ, they replace the ABS module

Then last 2 week the same indicator lights ON again, during my way to my hometown ipoh,
Send to SC Ipoh, Ford SC very funny, if we never been there before, there is no way for them to track our car record,
I told them i have this same problem before and ask them to check with PJ, after 2 weeks they still cannot sort things out, they said PJ is not cooperating with them rclxms.gif cannot contact and so many excuses went out,, last saturday i went to PJ myself using my wife car,, and talk to Shafiq the After Sales Mgr, and within few minutes and a phone call to ipoh SC all things settel,, and bear in mind that my car still at ipoh SC,, im doing their job to fastern things up,
Ipoh SC make a diagnose with PJ Manager still on phone line, they found out my rear wheel speed sensor is faulty, warranty finish, luckly its only RM 280++ per set, but have to wait for 2 weeks for parts to arrive from thailand, no other SC keep stock

This is not my daily car, the mileage is only at 35k km after 3 years of ownership, but giving far even worse head and heart pain compare to my daily car and motorcycle that doing almost 20k km /year both.

Pergghh yawn.gif

Hi guys,

I am a Focus MK3 owner. Now I am wondering if anyone installed reverse camera on MK3, and how does it look like? Did anyone here managed to upgrade Sync 2 system to Sync 3? I'd love to have Carplay on my MK3.

On a different note, I had second time door latch problem (different door). I am going back to SC to get it fixed, but this time I will insist on getting all doors latch replaced. This is a disaster waiting to happen, and I can't risk driving my kids with the thought that the door might fail anytime. I am still puzzled why this is not a recall.

Among issue faced so far:
1. TCM (twice)
2. Clutch
3. coolant leaking
4. engine mounting
5. absorber
6. door latch (twice)
7. rear boot damper (just ordered parts from shopee), going to replaced it myself

The only reason I am still driving this car is because it is not sellable. No sane Ford owner would recommend other people to buy Ford. As much as I enjoy driving it, but the headache(s) caused simply too much.

Anyway, does anyone know where I can buy S+ (rear) emblem? the one on my car was stolen a few years ago and I still haven't got it replaced.

For item no 7
i have spare, if you or any of other owner here want it fast

I make a mistake last time while ordering it
i tot i wrongly order wrong size, and quickly order new one,, but actually, the way that i install it wrong

Anyone has replaced the mk3 projector light to LED type?
My car headlight reflector bowl is burned thus the lights are very dim.

Apparently WRC in Subang can retrofit with a LED type and asking price is RM1300.. Is that a good deal?
Are there any other place to do this?

Bro

I tot HID headlights far more better than LED??

Sorry answering your question with a question

Hi all, i've intermittent battery drained out problem on my ford focus mk3 (2012) since last year. The problem started last year i have to do jump start every morning after the car parked overnight. the problem resolved after Ford authorised dealer detected the issue and do reprogramming, and replace one new battery. Unfortunately, after 6 months driving without any issue, lately the car battery drained out again after parked overnight. Get back to same Ford authorised dealer, and was told TPM failure, and need to replace with  RM4k+ charges. I'm currently curious whether it's worth to change at Ford authorised dealer, or any outside workshop can solve this issue? i'm concerned TPM might not be the real issue, and it will hunt me again in later months. Wonder anyone face this issue before, or get the TPM replaced at what cost? Thanks.
*
do you manage to solved your battery issue

Happened to me 3 months after I collect my car in 2012
Towed car back to Ford PJ, replace the battery for free, I googling around its a famous problem outside Malaysia, and that second battery lasted until 2018
Google 2012 Ford Focus parasitic battery drain

I found out that my aircon & dashboard LED lights didn't auto off after I closed and lock the door,, should be OFF after few seconds we lock our car
become a habit of mine until today even after selling my FoFo, to check all my internal car lights
that dashboard lights if its ON, very difficult to notice especially during day, and this will definitely draining your battery over time

Really? I though LED is better.

my current car using LED, not FoFo
and my experience is that LED light disbursement is terrible and the high beam is even worse, my personal preference still HID
and after few reading thru uncle Google, confirms that

Just that LED is the trend now, probably because of power consumption, i dunno, Im not really an expert

Also, apart from the steering rack, the dry shaft cover on the front left side of the car was found to be worn or damaged after inspection. I was advised to replace it as it may cause more serious damage which may lead to big repair bills if left unattended, according to the mechanic as the whole thing (not sure what is it) may drop from the undercarriage. He said there are few cases already the part gave way causing big repair bills.

Cost of the part is cheap, plus labour all in to replace the dry shaft cover is only RM150. It's the steering rack that concerns me now as it's not only costly but the danger and amount of hassle which come along with the big repair bill since the half-cut steering rack doesn't last very long. Even new original steering rack on my car only last about 8 years before it fails to function.

Apart from the steering rack, can Mk3 owners share other parts which you have replaced when it fails to function? In my case:-

1. Steering rack - RM10k+ (new), RM2.7k - 3k+ (half-cut)
2. O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 - RM480 - 800 (original Germany)
3. Dry shaft cover - RM150

For steering rack, I've already spent RM5.7k so far. Not sure what other big bill items which will fail in due time. Touch wood.

Has anyone replaced the steering rack of the Ford Focus mk3 with NEW steering rack from the service centre? If yes, how much does it cost and how long it has been installed onto your car? I would appreciate some information on this.

I manage to claim the steering rack from SC

But after warranty ended, I change my speed sensor almost every year until I sold off the car

Thanks for the response. If claiming for steering rack at the service centre within warranty period, I presume your car would be less than 5 years during that time when the steering rack failed. If that's the case, surprisingly it failed so soon. The steering rack on my car failed last year when it's 9 years old. Lucky for you then as the steering rack may be one of the most costliest part to replace if getting NEW.

I'm not sure what is speed sensor. In my case the O2 sensor failed for the first time this year. This part is still bearable as it costs less than RM1k. However, I don't expect it to fail every year since all electronic parts in my car did not give me any problem during my 9 years of ownership except the O2 sensor which failed this year. Once an electronic part is replaced, I would expect it to last at least 5 years if not more, so in your case the speed sensor failing every year is surprising.

May I ask how did your steering rack fail?
*
Speed sensor, is at tire, got 4 of them at each tire, if I not wrong, sometimes they called it ABS Module,, if this failed your ABS light will On

Nope, I claim my steering rack just outside my warranty period ended,, its just that I able proof to them that I already highlighted the issues several time, before that during service. The problem is that its will come and it will go,, intermittently ,, when at SC, the car behave very well
Its failed with same symptom like yours, when its happened its like you are driving a old vehicle without hydraulic assist

I sold off my FoFo at the 9th year of ownership,, during that period
1. Battery failed - 1st year of ownership, the replacement battery lasted until year 8
2. Speed sensor - failed twice during warranty period, I work at manufacturing industry, dusty place, they told me its because of that,, then after warranty period ended, many many time change,, lucky this thing is cheap, at shopee, less than RM150
3. Rear trunk Struts / Hatch - Failed after warranty, can buy OEM / custom China for less than RM200, I even got this spare and give that spare to the one who bought my FoFo
4. O2 sensor, failed during warranty and outside warranty
5. Clutch - change during warranty

I am lucky because I manage to sold of the car at reasonable price directly to buyer,, if you trade in this car, the price will make you cry

Thanks. Appreciated. Battery doesn't cost much, I just replaced it earlier this year so that's not an issue. Good that you managed to claim steering rack from service centre. It's new so it will surely last long. It's very dangerous to be unable to control the steering wheel when driving on the road when it suddenly becomes very stiff. Personally I regard this as a serious safety flaw for the steering rack to fail in such a manner. It's very dangerous.

Good that you managed to sell the car directly to a buyer at a reasonable good price. I am aware the trade in price to 2nd hand car dealers now will be very low. As I mentioned earlier, before COVID I was offered RM17k. Now, I am sure it will be RM10k or maybe less 8k. Even a steering rack costs more than the trade-in price of the car. Haha! I believe the 2nd hand car dealer will need to make a profit of at least RM10k from the sale of used cars so the trade-in price will be low. Say trade-in price is RM10k, they will sell the car at RM20k or slightly more.
*
Original FOMOCO Battery price at around RM700, I bought this one at year 8, this will last you longer

I sold off my car at RM25k at year 2020, few weeks before lockdown

Good to know. I changed the battery twice already, all Century batteries. Since I don't plan to keep this car for long, will go with Century. It can last 2 to 3 years. FOMOCO can last 8 years, incredible.

RM25k is a good price.
*
yeah when I changed the battery, my plan is to hold on with the car, that why I bought FoMoCo battery
I just test the market, posted at Mudah, then on same day got serious buyer paying cash,, with good price,, then why not,

Its a good car, never doubt on that, fun to drive, still got wow turn head factor, imagine what common car got this year at 2023, we already using it since 2010 like auto park, auto breaking,,

just the occurrence of same defect make me turn away

Forgot one more thing that I changed during warranty,, sun roof rubber seal lining
