QUOTE(Download BitComet)

QUOTE(after install BitComet)
1. Limit your upload
For 512k user, limit it to 15kBps
1M user can limit to 30kBps
2. Portforward and allow BitComet connection in firewall
3. Enable Protocal Encryption (although it is not very useful...)

FAQ by P2P forum - Best FAQ in here

How to Configure BitComet for the Best Possible Speed
Public vs. Private Trackers
A trouble shooting guide

About the XP SP2 connection limit, use latest version of BitComet can solve this problem by
Preferences > Advanced > TCP/IP Limit
at there, set your 'New Half-Open Limit' higher than 10 (recommend set to 50)

For the Max Simultaneous Half-Open TCP connections settings under Preferences > Advanced > Connection. It will be "Auto". For BitComet, it usually mean '10'. However, if you experience any slow surfing or online gaming, you can lower that value (recommended '8'). but if you didnt have any surfing or online gaming problem, and download speed in BitComet is slow, then you can try to set it to a higher value.

Resume download after change version is an easy job. usually, the task can be continue after you upgrade or downgrade version. But if you cant find the task, try open that torrent again, and save it in the same location as previous version, and choose "Download later"
at this time, hash-check again should do the trick

If you want to resume download using another client, you can try to remove the .bc! extension OR change the incomplete file extension to the other client "incomplete download file extension"...
open that torrent with the another client, hash-check again...and enjoy your download with new client!!!

QUOTE
If anyone experience slow internet browsing when using bitcomet, but the line didnt have any problem
then you may try these step
1.) Limit your download speed OR upload speed OR both
if this cant help....
2.) Reduce the value of "Max simultaneous half-open TCP connections"
set the value to any value that lower than 10, personally suggest 8...
if the value is "Auto", then make it to 8
IF, still cant help
Last, and is also the Best solution
3.) Disable the "DHT Network"

0.63 and 0.70 ...

0.70 a little better ... it will set completed task to lowest priority automatically ... no nned to upload so many , then u will have higher dowload speed ...

version between 0.63 and 0.70 not so stable...
*
in 0.57 also like that...
actually, all version of bitcomet also will make the completed task to "lowest" to upload...

holy hell. thats damn fast if u can successfully finish dl'ing a 6GB file. u port forward your connection aslo is it? how did u get up to 20+ kb/s? can u help me. i port forward mine, which im not sure i did it correctly or not. its still slow
*
i maybe didnt port forward...
coz all of my peers initiation is only "Local" or "NAT Traversal" only

dunno why it can like this......
maybe if i hv "local" and "remote" initiation both combination
it will be faster...

that 6GB file i dl very long time ago...
maybe aledi 2 x 99:99:99 = 200 hours
coz that speed is not always 20+kb/s...but sometime it reach 30+kb/s dl laugh.gif

i don't know why if i instal the 0.70 version, my norton av will prompt whether i want to permit or block this program, and each time i choose either permit or block the same warning appear again and again asking the same question, the weird thing is this not happen if i use 0.57 version any idea?
*
open Norton AntiVirus Option > Internet Worm Protection > Program Control
at here, remove ur "bitcomet" at there
then, "Permit" that bitcomet 0.70 warning

after this, Norton AntiVirus will not ask the same question again and again...

hmm...don't always come to conclusion that BC give you low speed.

have you check your router setting ? did you do your port-forward properly ?

any did you off your firewall ?

BC is the so far best of all BT software, its setting is simple and easy to understand.

i manage to squeeze my BC to the maximun speed of 65K at the most..but always maintain at 55k.still okay what
*
how about Riger DB102 modem?
i didnt found anything about this modem in port-forwarding.com
and i hv check that modem setting, no problem at all...
but the speed is only 20+kb/s

erm..if im using streamyx basic 2.0Mpbs with 2mb dl / 512k upload . What settings should i put?
*
the setting is more depend in upload speed...
although we are willing to downloading file
but in setting, it more depend in upload

set ur upload speed to 80% of ur upload speed
else you will be "chocking"
so, you can set ur max upload speed to 50kbps...
other, it depend ur bitcomet version
juz dun forget to set Advanced > Connection > Protocol Encryption (Avoid ISP block BT protocol)
in this option, set to "Always"
then it will be ok...
QUOTE(stsh90 @ Jul 23 2006, 08:31 PM)
Well, I've no prob with BitComet 0.70.. other versions, I've no comment, becoz I only used 0.70 before.. still a newbie. But I'm okay with it.. Evertime I download stuff.. max dl speed can go until 60-70KB/sec.. depends on the seeds and peers available too. Less seeds and peers ma less speed lo.. To make my download smoother.. I always limit the upload speed whenever my task is done about 30%.. I learnt this trick from a fren of mine.. When a task completed about 30%.. Limit the upload speed to about 15KB/sec.. then the upload speed will remain there, and dl speed will remain at its highest speed..

correct me if I'm wrong. still a newbie afterall ^^

Cheers.
*
i think you can always limit ur upload speed to 80% of ur max upload speed
but not when completed 30% and set to 15kb/s
i set my max upload to 22kb/s
it remain to 22kb/s in everytime!!
why need to complete till 30% first?
and 15kb/s is too low la
it will make other ppl dl slow...

if you set ur upload speed higher, then ur dl speed also will be higher!

doesn't the download speed depend on the seed? more seed are willing to share, more download speed. I found out that latest tv series which have seed of 50 above tend to give me about 30-50kbs. Plus other slow2 downloads, usually around 60-70 also.

same here
can never get the best speed with 20kbps upload
wanna be kind also kenot  tongue.gif
*
the p2p forum said that upload limit should put to 80% of ur max upload speed...
so, i put 25kb/s at first (256k upload x 80% = 25.6kb/s)
the dl speed... shakehead.gif
so, i try reduce it 1 by 1 and check for the best dl speed

then, 22kb/s is best in my pc
maybe different area have the different dl speed to us...
my fren didnt set his max upload speed (no limit)
but can have 60+kb/s dl speed!!

confuse now... rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

no 'remote' in the peer list means your connection is blocked or something. make sure that your port is open. and disabling the firewall in your modem doesnt mean your port is open. ;-)
*
else, need to config wat to make me hv "remote" in peer list??

try update to 0.70 lah, my bt is very stable at 55kbps.

i also try v0.70 before, but the dl speed is juz around 15kbps...
then i downgrade it back to v0.63, and it can get to 25kbps back...
and i hv to mention that both are same file...

i suggest wengjoe try any other version and make the best setting to them, and find the best speed in wat version...
and you said ur peer juz show "remote"?? blink.gif
i thought it is "local"
