@littleman
the v0.66 mod got some problem actually...
try use the newest version instead of the mod version...

if you think it is not the v0.66 mod problem, then it is probably malware that eat up your bandwidth......

not advise to use because it has a lot of bugs......

I didn't use it but heard about it from other people in this thread...... sweat.gif

QUOTE(gsan @ Nov 23 2007, 09:30 PM)
wanna ask a question...

if i portforward the port inside the router and uncheck the enable upnp and nat/firewall option in the bitcomet, is it the the small icon on the right bottom there will become yellow? i notice that if i enable upnp and nat/firewall, then it will become green. but then, i remember someone from here told me that if i open port inside router, then i no need enable the option d...
*
yes, if you already portforward and enabled BitComet connection in firewall
then you can disabled the UPnP port mapping and NAT/Firewall configuration option in BitComet

if you connect by bridging mode, then didn't need to portforward... just need to enable the BitComet traffic in firewall

but if like this, it shown the port is blocked? or I no need bother it is green or yellow?
*
no need to bother it is green or yellow
just look at your speed already ok

if your speed is good, but it show yellow... then no need to afraid, because port already open
just the indicator got some problem...
simply restart BitComet will make it show you green

Hi All,

I was using bitcomet version 0.93 previously. But this version end up to be 100% CPU usage if I'm downloading torrent tasks more than 3 (sometimes 5) simultaneously. So I update the version to 0.96 but the problem still persists.

But if I stop all the tasks from downloading, the CPU usage get back to normal of 5 to 10%.

The only solution I found is to download the most 2 or 3 torrent tasks.

What can I do ? I know a continuously 100% CPU usage is bad for my CPU.
Is it the problem of Bitcomet itself or the problem of my own computer.

Anyone faces this problem?

Hoping for replies... Tx
*
it is your problem... don't be so greedy!!!

you are advise to run 2 download task simultaneously maximum
more than that...... not only CPU usage will increase, but also will choke your bandwidth (especially if the task connect to many peer regardless how is the speed)

btw, the e donkey plug in port must same as the udp/tcp port?
*
I laugh when saw this reply... not laughing you, but laughing myself because I don't know what is happening on your case...... ignorance on me...

btw, for the edonkey plug in port... can you put as whatever no. you like, but also need to portforward for it...

Added on November 25, 2007, 12:56 pmsince that this thread already grow more than 125 pages, I hope we can make a v2 for it......

Possible Solution #1:

Click Options > Preferences > Advanced > Connection and change "Maximum Connections per task" & "Connections to keep per task" to 1, then resume the torrent.

How this works... To keep the speed up right to the end of the torrent, once requests for all the required pieces are pending, BitTorrent requests them all from everyone that it's downloading from. It then sends cancel requests to everyone else each time one of the pieces arrives. So by lowering the connected peers to 1 it may stop the piece coming in from several peers at the same time and getting mangled by the router and/or BitTorrent/BitComet.

Possible Solution #2:

Select the torrent task in BitComet then click the Files section (bottom left in the main window). If it contains any of the following file types, right click them and select Priority > Disabled:
desktop.ini
thumbs.db

Next right click the torrent task and select Manual Hash Check - this will check the data for errors. Then resume your download and hopefully it will finish.

This may fix it because these files are hidden system files that are specific to each system, so if somebody mistakenly included them in the torrent there will be a constant file overwriting battle between BitComet and windows.

Possible Solution #3:

Make sure the following is disabled in your router:
DMZ Mode (where all packets are forwarded a single machine by default)
Game Mode (very few routers support this function, so you probably won't be able to find this option)

If DMZ was configured and has now been disabled, you'll need to set up static port forwarding (instructions here).

Possible Solution #4:

Disable/bypass your routers NAT and connect directly to the internet - so you can download the last piece of data without your NAT messing it up. Consult your routers user guide on how to do this.
-----

Still hasn't fixed it? It may be time to buy a new router.

if cannot help, then that is the task problem......

anyone experience "out of memory" when using BitComet and multi-tasking??

I experience it last times when scanning PC with AV software with BitComet opened
now, video conversion + BitComet also will make same thing happen...

after "out of memory", the PC will lag, cannot see any word, cannot online
when shut down or restart, it will take very long time (or maybe cannot shut down/restart probably)

after reboot, the task list will gone...

Btw, if your download speed is bad.. Try to get IP like 60.54.xx.xx .. Then stop the download.. Start again.. Everytime my download drop till 20kb/s.. I stop it and start again.. Will shoot back to 100+ kb/s but it all depend on seeders..
*
you mean keep stop and resume the task after a few minute??
or just stop once only??

Erm.. Let say my download now 180kb/s .. Then after several hours.. Maybe I surf net or download other stuff.. It will slowly decrease to 50kb/s.. I stop it.. Then start again.. Will get back 150kb/s ~ 180kb/s.. It works for me though..
what's the matter?  sweat.gif
Btw, I am damn frustrated with this 0.97 .. Previously I use 0.94 no problem.. This 0.97 give me problem when i leave it for a night.. My download at 180kb/s suppose to get 50% + today but only at 2.8% coz the damn error..
*
so, after you got 180kBps, the speed is constant 180kBps??
or you need to restart the task always to get 180kBps??

Because if a person get temporary "high" speed when restart the task, it is just an "illusion"... sweat.gif

btw, I have no problem in v0.97...... still using it now...
maybe have to wait for v0.98 to fix your bug...

Well, many people PM'ed me asking how to boost bitcomet download speed.
I will share my settings and if it doesn't work. Please don't blame me.

Streamyx 1mbps package good/max download speed is 80~100kBps on Bitcomet ( Based on my experience ). After my settings, I get something like this :-

How? I'll show you what I did ... :-

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

LOL, this is what I have done before
and it been posted in 1st post (but the 1st post didn't tell to increase the TCP limit... I will try to update it later tongue.gif )

btw, the TCP limit didn't need to use other software to change it... it can be done by BitComet sweat.gif
I suggest you to make the Use NAT Traversal via UDP as "Disable" if you didn't use routing mode to connect
and the last stage you want other people to do... is actually what we say "port forward", no need to do it if connect by bridging mode......

For this one
"IF not getting good speed ( with many seeders ). Try :-"
please edit and remove the 4th, it is not related and it may compromise a computer

For the TCP Limit... It cannot be done using new version of Bitcomet if not mistaken..

I reset my modem yesterday and tried downloading.. Getting 80kBps only.. After I set back the NAT and IP Filter security to low... My speed shoot back to 194kBps.. So, it must be one of 'em ..

Just sharing.. Correct me if I am wrong..  smile.gif
*
it is ok because you just sharing...

I never try to use the new version of BitComet to change the TCP limit. So I don't know about that...
but I sure it work on v0.8x tongue.gif

which 1 is better? bitcomet or utorrent?

which 1 r the best torrent search?

how can i make bitcomet as a default torrent download? cos i have utorrent as default now.
*
just uninstall µTorrent, then you can use BitComet as default bittorrent client
and it is not recommended to use µTorrent anymore because it already sold to BitTorrent...
