I always have an OBD port scan tool, which is not too expensive nowadays with me in the car. One of the main reasons is because for my turbo Forester and since I mess around with the air intake and turbo boost sensor, there is a chance that some error crops up and my car will go into limp mode. Basically cannot drive above a certain speed and will be like a snail. The tool can erase the fault codes and let me car return to normal. But more importantly, it lets me know where the main problem is, as it reads the fault code and indicates the fault for most of the generic codes.

Also I have it so that the SC cannot bullshit me. The car has different combinations of lights to indicate different issues. But there are too many codes and there is not enough combination of lights to represent everything. For example when my main air flow sensor wire was loose (due to my own fault) the car display would say Hill Start Assist require checking with some engine and oil light on. But when checking the error code, it is specifically to the MAF sensor reading issue.

But really hope it is nothing major for you. But rats can be a problem. My previous Polo GTI had a rat die inside the bottom plate. That was horrible as I only notice it when it decomposed and there was smell and maggots coming out of the bottom of the car. Worst still I coul not access it properly without getting the car up.  Later on, another rat started coming into the engine bay again. I even found pieces of chicken wing bones and bread inside my engine bay with all the rat poo. Really horrible experience.

I bought a better one on another online shop because I wanted to handle and erase more specific fault codes for my wife's Citroën. But it can handle Subaru as well.

You need to make sure it can erase fault codes and not just a reader.

Alternatively u can buy the OBD Bluetooth modules and then buy the App on your android or iPhone to link up and use it to read and erase fault codes wirelessly. The apps can also give you a lot more info during driving.

Thanks, first time knowing there are so many XV owners out there, well, online at least. I've seen a whole bunch around Ara Damansara, all kinds of colours, but for some reason, very few blacks or dark greys. Most are white, silver or blue for some reason.

Very near then. I'm in Ara Damansara near the old NZX. If the grey that subaru had was a bit lighter, like the Honda grey, would have gone for that. Keep seeing dark streaks everywhere with the current white, especially with all the rain.

Not really.  My current Livina is black, very visible if dirty and have tonnes of hairline swirl mark.  So this time opt for white for my XV.  SA estimate i can take delivery of the car by next Tuesday - new Horse year get new "horse".    can't wait. 

Haha. No wonder, have never taken it for a wax or polish yet. To be frank, not even sure whats the difference between a wax and a polish. Yeah, lame.  Which one is Shine Shine? The one in NZX or in the Citta Mall car park? Thanks.

I bought mine from ebay. I think around RM 50+. But of course you need to download/buy the app for your phone. I use TORQUE.

Can find more XV on the road of Johor Bahru now.  Sighted a white XV at Tun Aminah yesterday, very striking, eye-catching even from far.  So far sighted 3 - 1 blue, 1 dark grey and 1 white.

Thanks for the info about the speaker, abundai, time to hunt for a set of 6.5" component set with tweeter and crossover in front and a pair of 6.5" for back.  Thinking of adding a 10" sub but the boot area already very small.    Need to check with my installer is there any other option.

thought of getting active sub to put under seats too.  But together with the amp, they will take up both the space under the front seats.  I like to hide my shopping stuff under the seats.    

oh..gosh... my wallet will bleed like hell after CNY - new alarm, new speakers, new steering lock, windows tint and some accessories from AE.     Btw, any steering lock to recommend?  Want to install Locktech but i think they dun have one for XV.

btw, roughly how many km you can make with one full tank of fuel?   I know different users has different types of routes, but just want to know a rough idea.  coz on paper, the fuel mileage is really good, even better than my 1.8L Livina which i regards as quite good.

he said brand Soundstream, about sound proofing he just said he can install that material but i dont see it at his shop. Maybe he keep it in his store

i got 9-11L per 100km.. and got 7.8 (less than 10 min then back to 8.x) during my trip to Melaka.
Everyday jam to work, and night time "fly" balik rumah.

Mr abundai : yup, he mention about 2+2 and sub. About sound proofing he said besides inside all doors, he can put that material on ceiling and on floor (beneath carpet). Hmmm  not sure same material wif u or not  

Thanks for the fuel info.  Looks like it is more fuel-saving than Livina.  My Livina average 450km for 42L and I am not a heavy footer, not caught in heavy traffic often too.

Your trip meter trick is a good idea.  I only use one of the trip meter for full tank mileage on my curremt Livina, another one seldom use.
