id like to check the connections with u guys first. 1 should be Left channel, the other is Right channel.. 3rd one ground?
however, most headphone cables have only 2 wires (from looking at the shielding). which type of cables use 3 wires?

heres the connector diagram.

btw, should i be worried bout voltages coming in from the cd player?

thnx a bunch guys.

dunno about voltages from the CD player, but the headphone connector isn't recommended to connect to your HU. Its preferable to use the non-amplified sound output from the Dock Connector.

However, I don't know if the wiring diagram is available to end-users or not... smile.gif

Yes, it's possible since it's only consuming 8w per driver, and running on either 4ohms or 8ohms which you can use your HU internal amplification to power it. Anyhow, just dun waste your time on it because:

1. The speaker is too small, 4" doesn't produce enough midbass. Due to the acoustic characteristics of the car, it'll drown the sound from your drivers.

2. Multimedia speakers are not treated chemically to take extreme heat. The material of the cone will be gone in no time cos it's undergoing a cyclic stress and eventually fail, which in this case it's thermal stress.

3. You can get a reputable component set for approx. RM550. A component set consists of a pair each of the midbass drivers, passive crossovers and tweeters. Somebody is doing a bulk in zerotohundred.com: http://zerotohundred.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=92868

Well, Focal is by JMLabs, A reputable French HiFi company but one turndown is usually the bright tweeters.

4. Spare a few more hundred on top of your RM300 and you'll know what I mean at the end of the day. Don't settle for cheap brands as it won't last long.

Too bad the front speaker mounting loaction in Myvi can't fit in anything more than 4". The option suggested in ICE section forum is to mod the door panel, which I'm unlikely to do so on my 2 week old Myvi.

Any bulk sale on 4" component that you know off?

Ermm, 4" is not really in demand. So, hardly can find any bulk on it. Perhaps, you can try to scout around for Alpine. You can try visiting ACP Trading in SS2, KF Audio in Aman Suria or Jalan Ipoh, Megasound near Subang Terminal 3 old airport.

as long as there is NO mess (mix up) up the ground connection . No problem. For the stereo jack, the inner most pin (the metal part that is closest to the rubber head) is Ground. Outer most tip( the metal pointy end) is left channel.

If accidentally flipped the Left/Right , it wont damage the ipod or the HU. Just terbalik the stereo only (which is easily fixed!)

Added on September 12, 2008, 12:35 amBTW, headphone cables are perfectly fine for the job.
Use the two inner wires for the left & right channel.
Then use the braiding shield as the ground wire.

The whole idea of using the braiding as ground connector is so that the inner two wires carrying the left & right audio are shielded from electrical noises. This is especially critical in a "electrically noisy" environment like cars. Otherwise you can hear a lot of buzzing "Aeroplane sound" caused by the car's electronics especially the ignition systems.

What car are u using? Most JDM or Malaysia cars should have no problem to uninstall the HU. Looking ar the cable pics should be no problem for you to install it, just plug and play.
