as long as there is NO mess (mix up) up the ground connection . No problem. For the stereo jack, the inner most pin (the metal part that is closest to the rubber head) is Ground. Outer most tip( the metal pointy end) is left channel.


If accidentally flipped the Left/Right , it wont damage the ipod or the HU. Just terbalik the stereo only (which is easily fixed!)



Added on September 12, 2008, 12:35 amBTW, headphone cables are perfectly fine for the job.
Use the two inner wires for the left & right channel.
Then use the braiding shield as the ground wire.

The whole idea of using the braiding as ground connector is so that the inner two wires carrying the left & right audio are shielded from electrical noises. This is especially critical in a "electrically noisy" environment like cars. Otherwise you can hear a lot of buzzing "Aeroplane sound" caused by the car's electronics especially the ignition systems.
