I know some people have collect many Military models, but may not suitable in posting in our current thread such as 1/6 figure, DeAgostini The Combat Tanks Collection, LYN Air craft & etc. sad.gif

Therefore....I open this thread for Military Plastic kits collector to show your (rare) collection & painting skills smile.gif

1) Plamo - A plastic kit set that need u to assemble & paint.
2) Completed set - A set come in fully assembly & painted, or with diorama.

Since the nombor of military collectors in lyn r not much, So, i merge both 1 & 2.

for 1/3 scale, plastic model, Dragon company have produce certain models.
but for metal, not encourage, once your item block at kastam, u need to explain yourself.

i can recall, last time 1/2 metal handgun (cigarette igniter) r banned in Malaysia, bcos the size look alike spy pistol.

too pricy & later addict habis lah.

actually i have been quit modeling like Tank & aircraft 2y ago, & sell most of my backlog..... especially aircraft, bcos it need a wide space to display, & hard to clean it, the small part like antenna & gun easy to MIA when cleaning with duster.

I continue to play Tank bcos of girl und panzer....& batter field series smile.gif

Maybe because Dragon ship it stuff from China to Japan plus with rebranding to Platz which can add up the price quite significantly.

Girl und panzer dont have bootleg like gundam, Most of the REal World military models dont have copyrite except anime or scifi model, hence no bootleg. For girl und panzer, the copy rite is the angle fish logo & not the tank.
U can get Tamiya + custom decal to mold it, or get officially item if u dont want to waste or lazy time to mold it.
Example,
Tamiya Panzer 4 + Custom decal = RM around 60.
Plazt Panzer 4 + Officially LOGO = RM 220-450.

but u still need to build it, cement it & paint it. The outcome is up to u.

For Tamiya, fujimi, Dragon & etc brands, the diference is the snap fit, accuracy, detail, types & price issue.

Fujimi or Tamiya is good
usually 1/700 scale is good already for building , or you can try bigger size 1/350 although not cheap

if you want to pick one, pick with photo etched details part and wooden deck bundled. Usually this one selling separately and always often sold out
also which one you like, waterline or full hull version?

waterline majority got many version on market and cheaper too, if you lucky you can find with Fujimi water effect part bundled
full hull is full body ship and have display stand but usually it is a bit expensive than water line and too few model released in market

I recommend ships from Imperial Japanese Naval(IJN) since Japan model kits manufacturer like Tamiya and Fujimi release it more than ships from other countries

how about battleship Yamato or Nagato for beginning? biggrin.gif
about the painting should be easy enough for beginner... watch this tutorial

place like Hobbylink Japan or Amiami still have stocks

or you got problem with buying? open Paypal account and link it to your local bank account like CIMB or Maybank
should not hard to do it

and PLEASE DONT BUY GUP OFFICIAL version by Platz/Dragon
you dont want be regret like me

get same tank from other model company from Tamiya or other
and custom made the decals

depend what scale you choose. 1/700 Yamato is about 30cm length
1/350 is about 70cm length

destroyer and any other IJN classified ships is too small to build especially submarine

Get water slice decal Clear/ transparent. BUt normal printer dont have white ink, hence all color can print out except white.
for white color, u need a water decal white based, print it, top coat & cut the shape out.

anything regardl paint, decal, tool u can ask here. smile.gif

Eh sorry i forgot the scale eas 1/16, not 1/18 sweat.gif

In. Supposedly for figure, 1/18 and 1/16 are interchangable (to a certain degree), but for accessories, there will be differences. Correct me if I am wrong biggrin.gif

JS-2 abit expensive compared to King tiger. But It OK.
But the Tamiya 38T hetzer is RM 120. (normaly small tank is below RM 65) sad.gif

for the Tiger 1 with Interior, the price is cheap, just tat quality like Trumpeter.
Other Interior part for Tiger & King tiger/ Panzer 4, is in Resin cast & expensive.
So, highly recomend.

erm... actually it quite long to explain. but if you see the "crown" or "diamond" pics at the upper beside seller name,
it mean it can be trust. better look carefully if it juz "heart" pics, it mean still not enough trust.
and better ask for someone pro who did "help buy" on Taobao, cuz if didn't know how to do it, it will charge customs fee for sure.

Just received my items. Both tiger & T90 crews excluded.
Academy tiger come with single pieces track instead of Rubber track that shown in the photo. it ok for me but gonna take time to connect it. Plastic abit soft compare to tamiya. Overall is OK bcos this is not a TOY.

Meng T90 Box & plastic very solid. Price near like Tamiya JS2, but weight is double up, which means i need to paid 2x for shipping cost. sweat.gif

I read both assemble guideline, look very complex bcos got many small (detail) items for the tank. rclxub.gif
The T90 really amazing in detail...& weight.

Yup dragon also produce other super heavy tank like...T28 (the only one prototype in the world) & Maus. I heard Dragon spend alot afford to get the approval /permission from tank museum to allow their designer to take measurement & photo to make the tank. That y it pricy.

i make some research, Most of the water effect medium actually is like epoxy glue. the cheaper way is. ..Paint a layer of color on the based. then useepoxy glue.

sapu sapu, the cement like white color, when dry it become transparent & hard.
But the problem is Epoxy (A & B medium) both only have 100-200g. The cheaper need RM 8-15. The large diorama, the costly.

apparently the 1/6 scale Panzer II cost around RM700-800
so for the 1/12 scale it will be lesser than that perhaps

or nearing to that 1/6 most probably due to many factors
Pz II isn't as wanted as Pz IV, and that Pz IV being particularly tied with popular anime, makes the price hike much more
depends on who is the manufacturer as well as the size of particular tank since Pz IV is bigger in scale as compared to Pz II

one example would be a RC Tiger by HL and Tamiya. both being the same scale and exact model (HL most probably with loss of detail a bit), but one is way cheaper than the other

but then again, that is due to the fact that the company is just copying what the other one is researching, but i do hope that the price should be in a good price margin biggrin.gif

FIGMA FIGURE ONLY included small accesoriess...cannot cover all the full detail part. I think figma may make a tank with full interior. Some ppl want that tank instead of the figure.

Dragon 1/6 tank interior part excluded. no need to paid copy rite...the price is expensive bcos of the size.

for comparison with interior part...
should use 1/16 Trumpeter King Tiger. which it come with transparent cover. price is RM 600 above. so for 1/12 scale Panzer 4 included license for Girl & panzer, price should be....... sweat.gif sweat.gif

me think interior parts excluded with 1/12 Pz IV just like 1/6 Pz II
since it is marketed towards GuP fans

like I say before inferior parts included with each figma release
so far we got 3 figma release already, the other 2 should have the complete part of inferior tank

also think the transparent turret part included to show the girls in it

about the price it should be around rm500-600 which is lesser than 1/12 King Tiger you posted

this, I think the Pz IV may loss detail a bit
but if the maker is from Dragon
I dont think they cheapen it

1. how's the flow on building and painting the ship?
2. i'm thinking: dry fitting > assemble and glue > undercoat > paint the ship. or is there method that i miss out?

from HLJ if IJN carriers, scale 1/700 cost around RM70~80..shipping around RM30+ for EMS
if online shop from HK, i think cost would be a little bit lower..

maybe pit road kit got many extra stuff..this one can build full hull...
this tamiya carrrier quite light...only 300gm++..but only waterline

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10183387

BTW, you can try SAL (registered) to keep the shipping cost down and avoid kastam..

it would be easier to paint and put the decal on planes 1st before you glue them
also Khai62 you also dont paint it 1st too? or you gonna leave the planes unpainted?

5 days? The F***? I used to assemble these plastic models when I was 13.
USS Enterprise and Nimitz took me half an hour each to complete everything. Excluding painting.

Do you know where I can buy these stuff nowadays?
I went to Tamiya 1 Utama but all I have already.

I handpaint them later on since i don't want to worry much about paint being melted by cements.

Not full 5 days mind you but you have to consider that this is my first time i doing 1/700 ship kit and i usually handle bigger pieces like 1/35 tanks. Not to mention those IJN carriers is abit more crude in appearance and construction where platform are attached everywhere at the side.

I know there Hobby HQ which you can find the address here:

almost finish. pending effect touch up.
1/35 trumpeter Challenger 2. Got gap line & uneven surface, less detail....but,cannot complain bcos it cheap. good for heavy damage effect.
It abit huge compared to ZTZ.

That 4D gun come ready molded in color plastic. One can re-paint it to bring out the detail. I did bought some from the book store from prangin Mall for around RM4/= each. They also sell the so call 4D tank and plane set that is totally out of 1/72 scale they printed on. So, I don't think it 1/6 scale. Maybe smaller. I like their MG42. My Hobbyboss CV90-40C and ZTZ-99A1 is almost ready except for their track that take ages to assemble. Will do a poster color painting of it once it ready.

Here is the guideline, the method is same for digital or tradition camouflage.

pick the lighter color to paint it 1st..then follow by other darker color.

Because the current conflict is mainly revolve around small insurgency and guerrilla warfare so there no major incentive for these major power to make new armor at least in the near future.

Not yet but i thinking on using white/PVA glue since it much easier to glue the plane neatly.

since this item from non-famous company, i doubt the stock availability is low (may running out of stock) & it pricy. Unlike trumpeter LAV series, it cheap & can easy to get it.

woo, nice.
but i think u can add detailing (rusty/ dirty line )by brush now on the base-coat. after that, u just spray the color on it & it will have a nice "Light weathering effect."...if u want Heavy weathering effect, then apply the detaling after spray color done.

what scale is that panzer 4 for girl und panzer model? I just finish base coat my T-72B ERA and trying to complete the ZTZ-99A1 track before starting my ZDB-05 (which also come with individual track!). Maybe I will do my LAV-R first for a break from working on those track. Now I remember why I stop last time...it due to that stupid tracks!

type 83 & 89 share the same body..but the 83 design really like that sweat.gif
in this case i pick 89 is enough. trumpeter AS90 & type 83 is same price...so i pick as90 over 83. icon_rolleyes.gif

haha....no place for Diorama. sweat.gif
I get this Tamiya bcos of the Tank crews & many accessories that hang outside the tank. Bside, it easi to assemble compared to trumpeter.

currently building T90A. very complex & consume alot time. rclxub.gif
M1A2 come with Fix suspension & rubber link truck (no need to assembly) so within 2 day can complete build/paint the whole tank. smile.gif

Option 2 is enhance version, which it look like current ZTZ 99B, M1A2 or challenger 2 truck.

so, 1 plat consist of 2 pcs parts = (81 x 2) x 2 = 324 pcs.

Option 1: 648 pcs + addon 324 pcs = 972 pcs for option 2. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It more complex compared to the truck link that u need to glue.

1/2 box weight/ runners is based on the truck link. rclxub.gif

That a lot of detail working on track alone. No wonder the box are so huge - half of it is the track. Revell and Tamiya track are much easy to work with. Finally complete my ZTZ and CV90 track after working on-off for the whole week on it. Will spray paint it. I will drop my ideal to get those track for now and wait for the wheeler BTR-4 with interior detail. Thanks.

What i can think of between two of them are:
Decal - easier to fit but look shiny if not flat coated and probably need to cut the decal to several pieces for easier handling.

Wooden - replace the whole deck (most of the time) and might require some sanding to adjust the deck to fit.

But then again i never use both of them tho.

some progress on my Yamato class battleship. smile.gif

1. was not satisfied with color scheme on the wooden (XF57 Buff) and seaplane deck (XF12 JN grey). strip down the whole ship's body. undercoat, re-mask and repaint. more satisfied with XF59 desert yellow and xf53 neutral gray..
2. fitting (without glue) of main structure, AA guns, cranes, seaplane, small extra boats etc on the yamato
3. a few more decals need to be applied.
4. plan to get weathering master for IJN vessel..later on coat the whole ship with Gaianoted EX clear flat. never tried weathering and flat coat before..would this be okay?
5. also plan to do rigging..not really sure what material to use..just some rough idea in my mind for the rigging section..will study more..

top coat is the best.
but since after i use mr mark setter, i wont topcoat except the model is either can transform or mecha.
mr mark setter once dry it become matt surface. so for gloss surface, u need to topcoat again.

Some diorama continue.

It take me sometime to post this picture. Cause all this picture is in the form of photo print and keep in photo album. Time has pass many yrs. The photo quality is getting old and bad. I have to scan it and digitalize it and keep it in server.

I have to make some repairing to the picture which have bad damage. But mostly I leave it as is it. Lazy to do. tongue.gif

Thanks. Sometime we didn't realize it till somebody mention or after see the photo clearly. biggrin.gif

The track is not loose. But somehow didn't construct nicely. The track should be loose and rest on top the few roller. While the drive puller both should be tight tension. Because the track is make of rubber type, it become like this. I should put some glue to stick on the drive puller.

I know it taste nice. But don't makan. tongue.gif

So far I never see any motor in 1/350. And not even 1 in my collection. But I don't like those have motor. Just display ok.

Why I like 1/350 is because it have most accessory. And plenty of detailing to get.

From online hong kong. Get it from HK cheaper and less custom kacau. All the way to your door step.

BTW, next week will go to Shenzhen/HK. See can sapu more aircraft carrier from there. He....

Eveytime I brought from japan, sure kena 1. Even not exceed RM500, still have to call you to LCCT to declare.

Than I switch to HK. No more call from custom. Even exceed RM500, deliver to my doorstep. thumbup.gif

Shipping cost cheaper too from HK. I just use the normal shipping.

Thanks. I m scrambling to save the print and digitalize it. Hope can share it here.

You are working on Yamato? If you want more information on detail of this battleship to help your assembly, let me know. I have the PDF book which give very detail about this Yamato. Even you can built 1 real ship with this book. No kidding. tongue.gif

Look like many interest in aircraft carrier. Here you may interest on this. USS Enterprise.

One of my favorite aircraft carrier collection. Add in some detailing decar. Will buy more accessory to add in on this.

If you like premium Yamato battleship 1/350, get the Tamiya 1. Good quality and plenty of accessory.

This is 1 of my favourite collection beside Bismark. Tamiya Yamato Battleship 1/350. With some photo-etched detail part bought from local..

Any special about this Premium? Probably it include photo-etched and label as premium?

I get separate photo-etched part. For yamato, many photo-etched part to choose. But price not cheap. sweat.gif

as for 3rd party photo-etched, its kinda hard to find and often sold out

He....Really oldskool. The challenging of this bike is the paint color and the decal. The Malboro red is a special red which only Hasegawa paint have such a color. From the picture hardly tell the different. But actual, you can see the red is different.

The problem now is, I don't have a time. sad.gif This modelling kits is getting less and price are getting high. You know lah. Now ppl play PC and game. So what I do is, collect, first built later. If 1 day I decide don't want to built anymore, can sell it away. Good price too. tongue.gif

My skill are bad now. After so long stop playing. Maybe I need you guys help to teach me back some skill. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

I have a plan to use 1 of the room with display cabinet. I already have some IKEA billy display cabinet. And use the room wall too. Need to think how to max the space use.

Actually not much kits I have. Just this few. blush.gif There is still some ship like destroyer, submarine.. etc half way built left in my store room.

Shipping RM 70-90.
kastam (if bad luck) RM 75 above.

my 1/700 PLA liaoling shipping RM 37, but Nimitz is bigger & have much more Jet compared to liaoling....so it much more expensive.

HHQ is in KL, too far for us in the north. It been a year since I last went there. No many 1:72 scale armour left. I did bought the entire collection of PST model kit of soviet tanks and some Revell figure from Mr.Low last time. Will check it out again during the coming school holiday next week to see if the offer still on.

Here the basic tips i use long ago when starting building scale kits:
http://www.stormthecastle.com/diorama/Plas...-techniques.htm

Personally for me it better to assemble the major/ big parts first since they usually will be painted in one color and other small detail can be handbrushed or paint prior to assemble but need to read the instruction carefully so that it don't conflict with other parts later on.

I often collect the cap of used drinking bottle and use it to mix the colour I wanted. After use, just throw away and use a new one. The white cap is the best as it allow one to see the color better. Use a fine brush to paint it before getting myself a airbrush from Limfreelance here. It a great deal indeed as he give extra mixing pan.

1/35 M1128 only have AFV Brand. This is commission work done by Taobao seller.
some of the seller offer painting services, but quality is depend on the price.
some Item, price already included the kit itself, but some dont (only offer painting & assembly services).

whoa lawa

man, the Italeri 1/72 Wespe is an old mold from ECSI, hence the crude detailing of it
tried to mod what i can with it, but wow, this experience truly made me thankful of the diecast kit in 1/72

i wonder how you guys do all the detailing on small scales sweat.gif

might spray can this one, and do the minute details with brush. results of mine sure will be horrendous rclxub.gif
even worse, i could just hand paint this entire kit and be done with it laugh.gif

http://www.network54.com/Forum/47210/threa...ich+kit+to+get-

sangat kecik woo (at least for me)
as you can see, details are very crude, and i am not incline in spending upgrade kit for something i am just recently trying my hands on (it has been a long time already i did try military kit), and i don't really fancy doing major corrections on this one sweat.gif
probably will do it slowly when mood kicks in laugh.gif

Well Wespe is pretty small to begin with which why most people choose 1/35 instead unless for some big kits like the Topol missile truck. laugh.gif

yeah, that's why i guess why modelers are mostly tackling 1/35 for armor i guess

That sure take a lot of eye strain i reckon painting that pilot

A question, since the armor for the gun, front, side and back of Wespe seems a bit too thick, and I don't have the option of placard (malas mau cari :P), can any plastic (eg say, the transparent plastic used to keep that CTC casing in place) be used as safe for spray paint? They seems to be of somewhat the correct thickness (from eye observation, or at least closer to it)

But then again, when the mood strikes-lah. The radio compartment looks off place on the kit compared to the actual ones

Not that hard really, since the pilot don't have much complicated detail aside the head because of it smallness.

I pretty sure those plastic are okay but still when in doubt test paint first if you have the mood. tongue.gif

For Akagi/ Kaga, i just use Corkboard from Daiso and paint it up while the Shinden is just a round tupperware cover with sandpaper as the base for the plane to sit. whistling.gif

And pretty severe crackline at that and i doubt you can even fix it unless you paint over it. sweat.gif

the kit, with all the interior, with transparent armor would be a sight to behold biggrin.gif

continuation of poor lass's kit:
Attached Image
what seems to be a very crude sighting device seems okay to my eyes as opposed to the actual ones that is merely ball on cylinder sweat.gif
armor is front plastic cover a4 size student usually use to protect their binded project paper. works well imo, just that after doing it only i remember whether that paint will stick or not to it doh.gif
kit so crude, exhaust is not given, scratch build that too. wespe loves exhaustes tongue.gif

gunna continue lipating the armor and if rajin, scratch build radio box (since the inner details are also somewhat crude, all boxes lol)

Saw that T-34 with full interior and a transparent case. It come with both case depend on what youw want to build. Cost around RM140/= each in Penang. The Bronco armour car Humber also come with full interior detail with both transparent and normal casing. Will take a closer look today on both kit.
