As per a new report by journalist Ben Jacobs, Pep Guardiola is against a summer sale for James McAtee, who has been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen – who employ Manchester City’s number one attacking midfield target for the summer, Florian Wirtz.

Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz has been reliably reported to be top of Manchester City’s wishlist to replace 33-year-old Kevin De Bruyne, whom the club are ready to offer an extension on reduced wages owing to his desire to play for Belgium in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Wirtz is understood to prefer a move to either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich as City look to refurbish their squad amid a battle to finish in the Premier League top-four.

There is also uncertainty around the future(s) of each of Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, John Stones, Ederson, Manuel Akanaji – with wholesale changes expected in Guardiola’s squad when Hugo Viana takes over from Txiki Begiristain as director of football.

Ederson – 5

The Brazilian started off shaky, with his distribution nowhere near the level we are used to. However, he settled in the second half and dealt with everything that was thrown at him well.

Matheus Nunes – 6.5

Had trouble dealing with Antoine Semenyo in the first 45 minutes but grew into the game and had a solid performance throughout the second half, nearly setting up a goal by creating a chance out of nothing.

Abdukodir Khusanov – 5

A troubled first 45 minutes for the Uzbekistan international, picking up a yellow card causing him to be more cautious before being replaced at half time.

Ruben Dias – 7

The Portuguese defender, like the rest of the backline, struggled in the first half but was a commanding presence in the second, helping solidify City’s defence as they turned the game around.

Josko Gvardiol – 7

The Croatian moved into centre-back in the second half, showing composure and strength as he played a key role in stabilising City’s defence.

Mateo Kovacic – 7

The Citizens number eight linked up well with Ilkay Gundogan to ensure the midfield remained stable to hold on to the lead.

Ilkay Gundogan – 8

Gundogan delivered his best performance in recent weeks, controlling the midfield, providing crucial leadership, and coming close to scoring with an effort that hit the post.

Bernardo Silva – 7

Silva was solid throughout, finding space in the pockets and delivering some excellent passes to help orchestrate City’s attacking play.

Phil Foden – 5

The England international had a quiet game, struggling to make an impact before being substituted.

Kevin De Bruyne – 7

The Belgian helped control the play in the second half, dictating the tempo and creating several key chances, as he played a vital role in City’s turnaround.

Erling Haaland – 7

After a poor first half performance , the Norwegian made amends by tapping in the equaliser. However his afternoon was cut short due to an expected ankle injury.

Substitutes

Nico O’Reilly – 9 (MOTM)

The youngster was outstanding, making an instant impact after replacing Khusanov, setting up two goals and showing an impressive performance throughout.

Omar Marmoush – 8

Another substitute who made an instant impact, Marmoush took his goal extremely well and looked like a threat for the remainder of the game.

Jack Grealish – 7.5

A solid performance from City’s number 10, who was excellent in keeping control of the game and drawing in fouls to ensure the blues stayed on top of the second half.

Nico Gonzalez – 6.5

Nico did exactly what was needed of him when he came on, kept control of the defensive side of the midfield to see the game out.

James McAtee – 6

Worked well with Grealish to keep control of the ball and to slow down the tempo when needed.

Ederson: Put in some difficult spots by his teammates and dealt with everything pretty well, although he wasn't strong for the goal. 6

Nunes: Abysmal not once but twice to concede the goal. He was better bombing forward but he cost City again from full-back. 4

Khusanov: Tested by a quick Bournemouth attack and earned a yellow card for a tactical foul in the City third. Subbed at half-time. 5

Dias: Improved as the game went on, with City really limiting Bournemouth in the second half. 6

Gvardiol: Couldn't get forward as often as he can, especially when moving inside in the second half, but added composure. 7

Kovacic: A few nervy moments but he kept up with play well after just two starts in the last 10 games. 6

Gundogan: One of his better games, finding pockets of space to attack Bournemouth and getting back to help out. 7

Silva: Similar to Gundogan, he was more effective than he has been of late and was looking to make more happen in the final third. 7

De Bruyne: He was regularly involved in the play, he just wasn't able to dictate or influence a lot. 7

Foden: Another game that passed him by as he was unable to connect with Haaland or lead the team out of trouble. 5

Haaland: A penalty miss and two good chances gone begging, then an equaliser and a blow to see him off injured. 5

Substitutes

O'Reilly (for Khusanov, 46) Changed the game instantly and got two brilliant assists. 9

Marmoush (for Haaland, 58) Another change that immediately paid off. 7

Grealish (for Foden, 62) Kept the ball well while always looking for an opening. 7

McAtee (for Gundogan, 83) Saw late chance saved

Gonzalez (for Kovacic, 83) Helped City see out the tie

Ederson (5/10):

Didn't command his box or distribute well. Wrong-footed by Kluivert's shot which Evanilson knocked in.

Matheus Nunes (3/10):

Looked uncomfortable even before his double error which led to Bournemouth's goal, gifting possession away in the final third then failing to track Kluivert.

Abdukodir Khusanov (4/10):

Let Evanilson get in front of him to score and then got booked before half-time, making Guardiola's mind up for him and being hauled off at half-time.

Ruben Dias (5/10):

Steered City back to normality after a shy fist half display.

Josko Gvardiol (6/10):

One of City's more comfortable defenders in the first half then shifted to centre-back for the second and looked even more assured.

Ilkay Gundogan (6/10):

Compensated for his lack of mobility with some clever moves. Hit the post in the second half after being denied by Kepa in the first.

Mateo Kovacic (6/10):

Was key to City having a vice-like grip on the second half.

Bernardo Silva (7/10):

Played with intelligence and dominated the play after half-time. Helped win the penalty.

Phil Foden (6/10):

Had a pretty quiet game save for an exciting run through the middle which was let down by a poor shot.

Erling Haaland (4/10):

Had a terrible day on the whole despite scoring. Missed three clear efforts, including the penalty, and then picked up a worrying-looking injury.

Kevin De Bruyne (6/10):

Had a bad first half but helped City back into it with his defence-splitting passes, such as the one that released O'Reilly.

Subs & Manager

Nico O'Reilly (8/10):

Changed the game by setting up both goals, continuing his incredible record in the FA Cup which now reads three goals and two assists in four matches.

Omar Marmoush (7/10):

An ideal replacement for Haaland, scoring with his first touch albeit thanks to bad goalkeeping.

Jack Grealish (6/10):

The perfect player to bring on after taking the lead. Held the ball up comfortably and ensured Bournemouth had no chance of getting back in it.

James McAtee (N/A):

An 83rd-minute substitute. Picked up a late booking.

Nico Gonzalez (N/A):

Brought on in the 83rd minute to further shore up the middle.

Pep Guardiola (8/10):

Bringing O'Reilly on was a stroke of genius and he must have had harsh words at half-time as his team came out with a totally different attitude.

Ederson-6/10: Didn’t have a lot to do in goal but perhaps could’ve done better for Bournemouth’s goal.

Matheus Nunes-5.5/10: He got forward well but his mistake did lead to Bournemouth’s goal. That’s the side of his game he must improve.

Abdukodir Khusanov-5/10: Misplaced a few passes and wasn’t as composed as we have seen him in other games. He wasn’t City’s worst player but he wasn’t at his best before being substituted at halftime.

Ruben Dias-7/10: Was superb in defence, especially in the second half.

Josko Gvardiol-7/10: Played well in defence, especially in the second half at centre-back.

Mateo Kovacic-7/10: Played well in midfield and held his position well as a number six. He grew into the game as did his team in the second half.

Ilkay Gundogan-7.5/10: I thought Gundogan played well before he was substituted. He played a crucial role in Manchester City’s second-half performance, and it was one of his best performances of the season, in my opinion.

Kevin De Bruyne-9/10: He was absolutely superb. He willed his team to victory, and his all-around performance was brilliant.

Bernardo Silva-7/10: Grew into the game and played well.

Phil Foden-5.5/10: He was quiet in the first half but was more lively in the second half before he was replaced.

Erling Haaland-6/10: Scored one and should have scored four. Worryingly was substituted with an apparent ankle injury on the hour mark.

Substitutes

Nico O’Reilly-10/10: He grabbed two assists and changed the game in the second half. A brilliant display.

Omar Marmoush-7/10: Scored the winner and was lively after coming on.

Jack Grealish-7/10: Was lively and offered plenty on the left wing. His best showing for some time.

Nico-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

James McAtee- N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

Ederson – 7

Had almost nothing to do but was composed on the ball. Will be happy with the clean sheet.

Matheus Nunes – 8

Added threat as an overlap on the right-side with Savinho.

Ruben Dias – 8

Pushed the team forward into the Leicester half to keep the press on.

Josko Gvardiol – 8

Overlapped on the left and managed to get back when needed.

Nico O’Reilly – 8

Came into midfield and looked to break through the tight block.

Ilkay Gundogan – 8

Controlled the ball and dictated play around the Leicester team in midfield.

Nico Gonzalez – 8.5

Stopped any Leicester counterattack and won the ball back high up the pitch.

Jeremy Doku – 9

Played a huge role in the opening goal and has created a lot tonight.

Jack Grealish – 9

Took his goal well and enjoyed his freedom in the final third.

Savinho – 9

Got the assist for the first goal and was creating problems for the defence all game.

Omar Marmoush – 9

Good eye for being in the right place at the right time for his goal. Worked well with Savinho on the right.

Substitutes

James McAtee – 7

Made effective forward runs when he came on.

Oscar Bobb – 6

Nice to see him back on the pitch and playing. Did not have much time to influence the game.

Rico Lewis – 6

Did his job in the last minutes of the game to keep the two-goal lead.

Vitor Reis – 6

Came on with less than two minutes to play and had little to do.

Ederson: Didn't have anything to do. Literally anything. One Leicester touch in the opposition box tells you City didn't even need to pass it back to him. 6

Nunes: He still had too many chaotic moments, charging forward and losing the ball or jumping over players, but he was untroubled. 6

Dias: Getting into a groove at the back, and helped create the second goal as Leicester got deeper and deeper. 8

Gvardiol: A rare outing in the middle and this looks like Gvardiol in his element, knowing where everything is and in complete control. 7

O'Reilly: Progress to start the game and he had a decent game, getting forward with abandon again to contribute to the attack. 7

Gonzalez: City look better when he is in the team ticking things along, and this was tidy without being that assertive. 7

Gundogan: Another of his better performances, happier with the comfort of Gonzalez behind and linking well with Grealish. 7

Grealish: Can City make a central player of Grealish yet? He showed good composure and understanding in the role after scoring early. 8

Savinho: A typical Savinho performance, full of energy and brilliant at some times while being error-prone at others. 7

Doku: Enjoyed taking on his man in the first half and enjoyed plenty of success. Faded in the second half. 7

Marmoush: Shrugged off an early injury worry to score the second and is settling in nicely. 7

Substitutes

McAtee (for Doku, 78) Quickly picked up the tempo. 6

Bobb (for Savinho, 85) The biggest cheer of the night was for him. 6

Lewis (for Gundogan, 91) No time

Reis (for Gvardiol, 91) No time
