We are not getting anyone. Everton are not selling Barkley, Liverpool are already one up on us for Salah, Shaw doesnt seem likely. We just screwed ourselves over if we pick up injuries. I love this club but it can be real frustrating having to deal with all the comical decisions we make.

Chelsea's willingness to allow Juan Mata to join Manchester United for £37 million is part of a long-term strategy to try to land Everton's young star Ross Barkley.

Even though a deal for Mata should be completed quickly, there is little chance of Chelsea immediately using the money to sign Barkley, who is out injured with a broken toe.

One short-term option being considered by Chelsea is to hijack Liverpool’s move for Mohamed Salah, the Basle winger. Failing that, they could relaunch a move for Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin, whose move to Juventus is yet to go through and who is available for £8 million.

But Chelsea’s intention is to launch a big bid for midfielder Barkley in the summer and allowing Mata to go to United could aid that process.

Chelsea have the maximum number of non-homegrown over-21 players registered, 17, of which Mata is one. That is an issue the club are aware will need to be addressed, particularly with Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole heading towards the end of their careers.

Jose Mourinho is hoping to sign Southampton’s English left-back Luke Shaw as a long-term replacement for Cole, and may yet launch a bid in the final week of the transfer window, and Barkley is also a major part of that strategy.

Over recent years, Everton have been forced to sell Marouane Fellaini to United, Jack Rodwell and Joleon Lescott to City, Mikel Arteta to Arsenal and Steven Pienaar to Tottenham. Wayne Rooney moved to United in 2004.

Barkley has made 21 appearances for Everton this season, scoring four goals. Despite his injury, the youngster is expected to travel to the World Cup as a key member of Roy Hodgson’s England squad.

If he wants to play football and get more playing time he can do it at any other club that ISNT in the premier league. We just need to be FIRM with him that we are never going to sell him to any club that is competing with us in the premier league. LOAN him to athletico madrid or Barcelona for all I care. Get all the playing time you want and get into the World Cup. You deserve it. ANYWHERE but United and any other team in the EPL.

You know what I hope he does come back to haunt us next season. Just to teach these idiots making the decisions at Chelsea a lesson. You'd think after the RVP situation they would have figured it out.
