IIRC, it works the same way ranked party MMR works. The TMM pool isn't dense enough to yield good games though. You're better off queuing for ranked AP/CM, much better players there.

Deso was popular back in DotA 1 because searing arrows didn't go through magic immunity (like Impetus its castable, but the additional damage wasn't dealt).

The recent change in DotA 2 allowing it to go through BKB means you can get free +60 physical damage per hit without having to purchase any items. Makes more sense to pick up an Eye of Skadi these days.

Mirana is very easy to play, it just takes patience. Watch your enemy's movements around the creep wave and adjust accordingly. It's often advantageous to shoot arrows from unexpected angles, for example if you're on the Radiant team, an arrow coming from the Dire side won't be so easily anticipated by your opponent.

My mate Zenoth did. Solo 55xx, party 53xx. Smurf accounts with a low number of games don't qualify (my smurf is 5012 but still no notification). Kinda agree with this though, discourages people from smurfing just to make it onto the leaderboards.

Make new account, stack co-op bots until you reach level 13, then KS during your calibration games. Doesn't matter if you win or lose, as long as your KDA is high enough already. You do this, confirm 5000 minimum.

I'm not saying you MUST have a high KDA to get that mmr value. Just that there are hacks to inflate your mmr.

Valve has asked for player positions (core or non-core) in their leaderboard registration. I think they will segregate according to role.

I have a feeling the exploit will be fixed soon. Looking at Valve's track record, they are quick to address issues that have been brought up on Reddit. Get ready for MMR that evolves depending on your game impact rather than just wins/losses.

I disagree. Sometimes the hard way is the best way to learn. Most players read/watch a lot of stuff online and as a result they think they're good because they have the knowledge base. Sadly, knowing isn't the same as doing. Go tourney, kena tapau, then only will you know where you stand. If you don't believe me, you can always ask sniperz, he's a veteran in the local scene.
