ATF used is not SP3 spec...so the clutch plates worn off.reapers also used the same atf like mine...his got minor slip already...
*
saw you mentioned minyak batu d3-mv right?
i googled it found the compatibility list got mistubishi SP3 inside, so shouldn't be a problem right?

recently i think my gearbox emits some little noise, especially driving in cold. i think it's gearbox coz when driving (slow moving traffic) i purposely shift to N and press pedal little bit when i heard the noise, shifting to N mutes the noise even the wheel still moving slowly. I'm using Pennzoil MV, mileage just barely 30k. Guess either the ATF not suitable or the ATF level not enough (mechanic pour only 4 little on last service) hmm.gif

4 litre is on the minimum level at the ATF dipstick. i guess it is still safe because even the service centre said 4 litre.

if u pour in 4.5 litre, ur dipstick level will be in the region at the centre between max and minimum.
i pour in 4.5 litre sometimes.

waiting ckdenion about the filter in ATF, nobody change the filter for ATF service before. sad.gif
*
ic, so i wouldn't worry on the low level too much, if min level no leak still acceptable.
yeah, i see there is no conventional atf pan to access the ATF filter from the bottom. my mechanic told me need to bring down the gearbox if want to change atf filter, don't know true or not...

2 bottle of SP3 kah or XP3. Now XP3 very hard to find. Maybe discontinued. Now car got used to SP3 since my last change over 5K mileage ago. Initially feel a bit draggy and more obvious gear change.

For me, XP3 will make gear changing less noticeable but SP3 still is the next best ATF (or only ATF guaranteed no issue. Don't want try others and take risk of damaging gear box).

what color is the XP3 fluid? I rmb saw somewhere stated it was blue?
but proton sp3 is red, right?

Cavino some interesting noise db check on different engine oil for your reading pleasure:
http://club.autohome.com.cn/bbs/thread-c-928-26658337-1.html

1st photo is amsoil after 13,000km
2nd photo is liqui moly 4100 5w40 + ceratec after 100km something
3rd photo is liqui moly 4100 5w40 + ceratec after 2,000km
4th photo is their factory oil (i don't know what brand) after 700km

seem like the differences is too little to be noticed by ear huh?

Sure, those crazy sound experts or those very sensitive to noise might appreciate the difference.....mmm...gua nowadays a bit deaf liao due to the buka radio kuat kuat to cover car noise.

Wonder whether the bugger change a new air filter or at least clean the air filter at same time for each change.....do note those extra items also contribute to the noise.

二是这次换的时候才注意到机滤只是一个普通型,不是长效型的,普通型建议五千一换的,我居然跑了一万三,怪不得一万以后衰减严重

I laugh like shit when I see this.....reminds me of someone here....never change oil wan...
*
i don't even know our oil filter got normal 1 or long-lasting 1.
and i even laughed when i knew such db test exists, and it was on our beloved car where other parts are more noisy than the engine itself imo.

They used this filter quite sometime liao....for 5K service, so go figure, that's why I recommend only 5-7k mileage.

got such long lasting oil filter exists for our car? how much it cost?
btw, last month i went spare part shop want buy oil filter, that boss said proton's he already sold out no stock, got oem brand. so i bought the oem brand for rm5, i forget what brand liao, even cheaper than some of my daily meal!

ok mar, see the thread link i gave, oil used for 13,000km still come out as "liquid", at least it's flowing out from engine not having to open engine to clean-up the sludge.

Personally I don't like OEM especially RM5 ones. There is A LOT OF DIFFERENCE in FILTERATION MATERIAL inside. Oil Filter are meant to efficiently filter lube to minimize contaminant flowing in engine. Its not just for show only. It is almost as important as using a good lube but unfortunately most ppl ignore its importance.
*
what oil filter u using? proton 1? also i found there is AMP brand from proton, same quality?

I not so knowledgeable on filter, so on safe bet, use back Proton 1, not oem. Hamp brand gua tau, amp not sure ler...I did not even read the original one, just buy straight from SC and change outside.
*
wa, this is very safe, can filter out the possibility of getting "fake" proton oil filter somemore. rclxms.gif
that spare-part shop i went, the uncle boss always got alternatives 1 when the part i want out-of-stock. for proton oil filter i got Proton > AMP > OEM brand

for audi oil filter i got bosch > Mercedes brand. This is too extreme until i go back googled verify it's working then only i dare to buy from him... icon_rolleyes.gif

There are performance filter outside. Not sure how they got performance into there. However some are long life filters that did better than the original. Unfortunately I don't know which one is compatible to ours and really is long life, so safe bet, SC.

Oil filter even when bought from SC is not expensive, only RM12.22, original air filter, Rm16.71. So just change oil filter every 5K and air filter every 10K. Less than RM30, peace of mind and great performance boost (in terms of no reduction in performance ala those used for double the period).

Can't do that for cars like Honda city tho...ni a ma...air filter cost RM70....have to last 20K. Oil filter RM30, double of ours.....last same 5K.
*
wah, u r the 1st i saw changing the air filter so frequent. usually mine only took out to air-blow cleaning by mechanic during service. now already 33k km. i don't even know the air filter is so cheap, luckily u stated the price. future if got someone wanna promote their oem air filter (non-performance) which is rm25 above, then i will reject. thanks for letting me know.

QUOTE(Cavino @ Jan 20 2014, 05:28 PM)
Ooii....air filter need change at lastest 20K mileage. If not, your performance suffers (that translate to decrease power and increased FC gradually, so won't feel until you change new one)....not worth the saving of not changing.

Since air filter pricing is quite affordable, changing at 10K really ensure optimum performance (at least from air flow) at most time, you can feel the engine going strong at all times, not just when change every 20K. Usually at abt 15K, air flows suffers liao, even blowing won't help. By 20K, its dirty, performance already affected for quite some time.
*
really? i don't know the air filter replacement interval is 20k, no service booklet when i got the car. rclxub.gif

btw, power steering fluid need to change or not? my friend called and ask when he doing 40k service, pe also. that shop asked him flush power steering fluid rm100 + something, really is this price ar? i told him i don't know the price so ask him hold 1st.

Like that bela ayam sendiri lo. Dapat free baja somemore.  whistling.gif
hmm.gif Suppose to be less than RM 100, IINM. 40K is just right.
*
need to flush?
i tot of diy use something siphon out the power steering fluid from the reservoir, pour it full, then drive 1 round back repeat same step again. cheaper alot. can get leftover atf dexron 3 fluid for it right?

Aiyo, go check the schedule maintenance schedule on the 1st page lar...its mostly listed there

No need flush. 40K why need flush. The last time I change at 40K, sc used the same Proton ATF (gear oil) when changing my gear oil as well. Maybe a bottle or even less. I doubt they flush them, don't know can drain out or not.

It sure works coz my steering roboting whirling sound that have been bugging me since 30K disappeared after that.

Frankly, proton maintenance really quite affordable comparable with other brands, so I go SC buy to ensure original rather than spare part shop, mostly oem ones.
*
proton sc use siphon-out method for changing power steering fluid as well? hmm.gif

i regret change to falken 912, sidewall too soft, softest of all tyres i used before, cornering does not feel good, need to slow down alot. previously on sime tyre can corner better than 912...

912 got indonesian made? i tot indonesian made is falken ziex 522, which have most negative feedbacks for falken tyre i've seen.
