*
If not mistaken local shops are cheaper. Well if you include postage etc from China, it'll probably cost more.

*
back to the question. define powerful. max drag? speed? durability? all of these falls under powerful.

Any of those would be a good choice. Just depends on your taste and preferences.

I went to kepong tackle the other day. The lady said TCE Sports is going to do clearance sales for Ryoga, but without warranty. But so far no stock or news yet. sad.gif

come back already, very low bite rate even use ikan kembong and yuzuri mata candat.
depends totally on luck
*
It depends on the spot too. I've used handline and some cheap ass rusty candat by the Pulau Pangkor jetty. managed to catch a few. But this was aeons ago. Not sure about now.

neither do I.
but to swing that amount of distance, one do need a bigger stick.....
anyway.....I done a little research of my own....

using a centrifugal braking system reel and a 9ft rod.
I found out that by turning of the braking system I can actually cast at least 30% of the fishing line I had in my reel. that's very far......
but there's a problem.....its ridiculously hard to control...

majorities of the outcome are horrible backlash......don't understand though....
*
You don't use a baitcaster for surfcasting. That's like using petrol for your diesel car.

Use a proper surfcasting reel like below.

Unless you love bihun, then use a baitcaster.

yeah about that.....
i have tried.....using a surf reel on a 9ft rod and a bait caster on a 9 feet rod.
i'm not saying you r wrong. but i personally prefer mounting a baitcaster like this user posted image here on my surf rod.

its easier to swing and it can cast further than a surf spinning reel ( from my experiment ).
look man unless you turn the braking system all the way down. you won't get any back lash....trust me....I've used it dozen of time
*
if you turn your braking system all the way down, isn't it the same as spinning already? that defeats the purpose of a baitcaster. haha

guys, can please recommend me a rod and reel for beginner fresh water fishing?
If possible, enough to fish tilapias to haruan can already. Dont want too many rods and reel. hopefully one will do.

budget around rm500+- for fishing set. (set aside rm100 for some hooks and weights, lines)

looking at "BOSSNA-ARREAT-3000" at the moment with no rods to go with.
Or maybe i should just get something lower will do?
*
500+ can get you a very good rod and reel. Try rodford ryojin 2000 and pair it with a viper venom rod. Should cost you around RM400.
