My opinion would be to go with tatula which is bout the same price. Lighter & smaller. Depends on what you fishing for. both have same size of spool and capacity.

QUOTE(LV-strom @ Jun 22 2015, 10:25 PM) to those dudes that says heavier sinkers help to increase casting distance.............. lets just say it doesn't work for me. doesn't matter what rod I used. for examples : 33g / no.6 oblong sinker allow me to cast 90% of the line I had in my pinnacle inertia reel which is mounted on a crap 9ft suft rod ( I got for rm100+ ) but when I increase the sinker weight to 40g. instead of increase my casting distance, it reduce it to at least 10-15% of my casting distance. oh and banax gmc is a hunka junk There are reason rods have weight loading rated on it, best to keep it within the limit because loading of the tip may impact your casting and distance. Just curious on what your main aim to cast so far? You sound like a sea angler imho. Aside to all the hardware you have there is also skills of casting, for instances,.. i cant seems to cast far and I always lose out to my kaki when we boat fresh water boating. even with the same setup or same gears with lures, i tempt to lose out quite a distance. tested some friend's gear with bearings changed,.. i only end up eating bihun while these sifoo can cast flawlessly with great distances. Sometimes i wonder getting too far on freshwater fishing may potentially get snag more, especially in dam or rivers. So take a chill pill, enjoy and appreciate your gears to the extend of what you can. Most of the time i would thumb to brake the spool naturally worry that it will bihun up and spoil the whole day fun on the boat. So in general most anglers here have gave their inputs Smoother, finer, lighter lines will give you distance with less friction on your guides Braided lines can achieve better distance compare to FC or nylon Length of rod depends on loading of the tip will give you distance as well. Weight needs to match your rod rating. If you dont have fear of bihun like me,.. turn down your brakes to minimal Shape and aero dynamics of lures also plays a role (cast a plastic frog vs a jig vs a minnow of the same weight gives you different distance) |

Rod weight rating is printed on the base of the rod along with all other details.
I am just sharing based on fresh water experience, not much of a saltwater person. You will see rating like this on fresh water rods 1/4oz - 1oz or 1/16oz - 1/4oz. PE rods will have it in grams 80-120g So when you cast, the bending and loading of the tip's enrgy is fully optimised. Fully understand your obsession with distance now, you casting from shore trying to achieve deeper waters. So you are rigging baits with your BC reel ? I still stick with my spinning gears if i need distance, my UL rigs outcast my BC rigs for 3g lures. Spinning no need braking LOL. everyone has their own techniques and ideas,.. no one is right or wrong with fishing as long it gets caught and landed. |

QUOTE(LV-strom @ Jun 24 2015, 10:08 PM) my rod don't have those........... I use Braided on 80% of my setups. so line twisting is not much of an issue for my spinning gears. there's only line weight and lure weight.......T.T do you? okay. I respect your tenacity......that you are able to put up with line twisting becoz I can't....... .......common curse for spinning reel and what are ul rigs? hey I got somemore question for you dudes. what knot do you used to tie your hook? snell or improved clinch hmm I find that eyeless hook set better than normal hook... judges? UL = Ultra light,... finesse fishing type. 2-6lbs rod and line rating casting light and small plugs to catch small fishes. Fishes are getting smaller, heavy gears kills the fun of fighting the fishes. so us lidi trout type of rods with 1000-2000 size reels. KNots also goes with personal preferences. I like the palomar knot regardless if its single or double looping. easy, fast and it has 2 lines holding the in hook eyelet. Answer to you reel comparing is also very subjective... there is no better reels. Just go with what you can afford and feels comfortable with. Just like getting handphone. Curado E has brass gears all gone and ended in that E series after they cloned Chronarch E and Curado G. The brass gears are stronger and more lasting. the Centrifugal brakes on shimano is better at pitching. |

QUOTE(querked @ Jul 17 2015, 01:09 AM) Guys, anyone got any contacts for boatman or boat rentals around Gopeng, Tapah, Kampar? Planning a PB trip one of these days!! Suggestions? Thanks! TO me, best place with full facilities would be CWS. FIshing is RM30 per pax and boat rental is 100 for full day. That Bujuk 55 can take 3 angler with comfort. Only problem with that boat is requires "nasi power". No guide nor motor included. After fishing you can use the club house facilities to bath, swim, or even dine in the club house. Just google up Clear water sacntuary golf resort in batu Gajah. |

QUOTE(querked @ Jul 22 2015, 05:56 PM) CWS definitely has better bite rate than Prima, but prima has other fishes to catch. CWS is just mainly PBs. Land base at the driving range can land you some good 30+cm club house lake also good along the shore. Best to take a boat out o the Wetland lake. recently landed a 45 cm. Spin flies will get you those average 20-30+ cm,,. target lily pads with sinking pencils for those 40cm just two of us caught 74 PBs from 8am till 7pm. Cheaper to go out town to have lunch. |

QUOTE(odin140 @ Aug 11 2015, 12:44 AM) seems interesting. thanks for sharing. any idea if its dangerous to fish there? flying golf balls etc? how big is the lake? multiple lakes? their website doesn't say anything about it. Just try to avoid fishing too close to the green turf. Its totally safe, carefree and just laid back. Only 3 lakes allowed for boating. Go with Spin fly and you wont go home kumpow. Beware of snags as there are a lot of dead tree aand roots, thats where the fishes hide Bring plenty of spare leader and fly. Swap out all hard lures with single hook. |

QUOTE(LV-strom @ Aug 10 2015, 06:40 PM) they said that if you wanna cast further you need a longer rod! Good advice, and very true with some facts. I think thats what we been trying to tell you. true? nope false? no either. when it comes to fishing there r no such think as the perfect set. every reels and rods has its both advantages and disadvantages. in other word longer rod may not allow you to cast to the desirable distance. examples : if you r planning on jigging with light lures.....which actually weight about 1/4 ounce or so. so you went to a tackle shop and you asked for the dealer how can you cast further. the first thing those jackasses said would be.........get a longer rod preferably those 12ft or more. you took the dealers advise and bought that hunka junk. becoz they give you.......about 10-20% discount....................all I can say is......you r an idiot!!! dude.......its not that simple when it comes to choosing the right rod for the type of fishing you r planning to do. take it from me the next time you folks plan on getting a new rod. keep this two point in mind..... For the record who ever of you think that this prize, length, strength, brand etc are the point to consider when buying a rod. you r so wrong!!! this here ----->" prize, length, strength, brand etc " r for idiots to read.!!! now the two point when choosing a rod. 1. make sure the rod is in great condition. no tear, no scatch, no nada! 2. this is important.......ready? is its action type!!! there r at least 4 action class....it goes slow, medium, medium fast and fast....... now action refers to how much of the rod deflects (bends) when you put pressure on the tip. look below..... ![]() slow action rod allow anglers to cast lighter lure further than other medium rods. but sucks at setting hook and makes it difficult to landing your catch.... whereas a medium fast to fast has more strength in it allowing the angler more control over the fight. but the downside however...........lets just say rigging a light lure to a medium fast rod is a horribly stupid idea. you can't possibly cast far with it. the most I guess you'll probably be able to cast about 12-20m away from you. don't worry no hope is lost. instead of using light lure switch to a heavier and more robust lure....... that should give you the distance you are looking for. conclusion is that to be able to cast further into the surf you don't necessary need a longer and more expensive rod and reel. it all depend on what kind of fishing r you doing or planning for the record.....my junk pinnacle inertia finesse baitcaster, beats banax GMC400 and daiwa lexa 100 when it comes to casting long distance. hehehehe who said expensive merchandise r better than cheap stuff. my pinnacle inertia finesse baitcaster RM110 only!!! ![]() You are just too obsessed with achieving distance but you lack to under stand the rod till now. Jigging dont need 12 ft fod cos you dont cast out far. Just drop your jig down below. Freshwater boating dont require a 8ft long rod cos it too hassle on board and dangerous to cast with another 2-3 person onboard. No one argued in return on the topic that expensive gear = better distances. Cant dispute that a Nissan GTR is faster and quicker than Ferrari and Lambo these days. And the GTR is only half a million!!!! You need correct pairing of gears to certain type of fishing. Aint like the old days 1 rod & reel can land all the fishes in the world. Surf casting rod with Surf casting reel. Surf casting are usually spinning type and not BC. You will notice the spool design is very different, shallow & long. |

WHen you said bihun fly out,.. meaning a bunch lines messed up after you cast outside of your spool ? Bihun on stuck on your rod ?
THat is one indication that your you have over spool or too much line. Leave 2mm space on your spool level. |
