Hello everyone!

Started fishing last year, looking forward to learn more from everyone here!
Don't dare to go deep sea yet(no gear yet, Penn battle II 3000 can ah? LOL), so far have been learning at public ponds around PJ and learning from sifus at paid ponds only heh.
*
Pond and sea sure diff game already. Can try start play at shallow water maybe pulau ketam or lukut area to get the feeling. 3000 reel size should be sufficient for these water.

Shallow area means by the coast or still need take boat out to fish? Shallow water would be around how many meters deep?
*
By coast also can. Take boat also can. Depth range less than 30m. By boat sure more catch compared to coast fishing. These shallow area no need high end big reel. Spinning size 3000-4000 already sufficient

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a good fishing pond that allows us to do casting. Anyone has a recommendation around KL/Selangor? I previously went to Pak Din in Bukit Antarabangsa but they've disallowed casting now. I'm new to fishing and love casting. Recommendations pls. Thanks. smile.gif
*
I've tried once at salak tinggi behind petron station. Bite rate quite good casting using dead shrimp. Rm50 for 3 hours.

ok just came back from New Natural Exotic Fishing Pond that moved from Rawang to Behrang.

for those that do not know, Exotic is a catch and release pond that originated from Rawang and moved to behrang recently. It is famous for its variety of species of freshwater fish that u catch and release and for its VIP service and also for its "easy to catch" hook rate.

Rate is RM 100/ 4hrs.

U may use the variety of baits and lures. The bait sold over there are:

1 - live lampang (not recommended)
2 - live keli ( wat gor u chop up in to pieces and highly recommended for red tail)
3 - intestines ( yes sold at their freezer, but u need time to thaw out as its frozen solid)
4 - chicken meat ( yes sold also at their freezer and need time to thaw)

U may also use your own dedak but i wont recommend it as the water current is strong and constantly moving.
U may also want to consider lures for casting, i used a spoon to hook up some gar and sultan fish.

No sam char ngau is allowed, so swap your trebles on your lures with a single hook.
ALL HOOKS NEED TO DEBUG AND ONLY 1 HOOK IS ALLOWED.

prepare your heavy gears. i went in with a dogtooth rod and 8000 reel with 80lbs braid and 120lbs leader. i dunno how many leaders i've tied, i lost count. Fish there wayyyyyy more stronger than they were in the old exotic in rawang. Guess the water is better.

U may fish when its raining as its shaded. So heavy rain also dun worry. Plenty of shelter unlike the old exotic rawang.
Restaurant is upstairs but i doubt u'd wanna eat any of the stuff there. i havent tried it as i went late at night.

Pond is open 24/7 all year round with a rate of RM 100/ 4 hours and bait u can buy there. So just bring your gears and fish on !

Species i and my friends caught

1 - Amazon red tail ( plenty of these fighters ranging >10kg) the smallest we caught was 20+kg.

2 - Rohu ( 2kg + i think. didnt weight but it was around that region)

3 - Mekong (roughly 30+kg was brought up by my friend using his special bait)

4 - siamese carp ( supposed to be 30+kg but the 1 i caught was only 6kg)

5 - normal keli ( weighing in smallest is 8kg and biggest caught was 20kg)

6 - alilgator gar ( someone caught it with a pencil lure and that monster weighs around 60+kg)

7 - terrapin ( yes these pests are back in from rawang. friend hooked up a 4kg terrapin)

8 - big lampang ( they grow up to 1/2kg)

supposed to have other species but havent up yet.

Enjoy your trip to behrang......its damn far but the place is super clean, the waters are good and the service is still top notch just like last time.
*
Wahh all monster fishes. Need to upgrade my gear accordingly before try there.

Hi, I just recently took up fishing and was wondering what's a cheap but good setup for a beginner? Thank you in advance.
*
If only basic setup for occasional fishing i think spinning size around 3000 with pe2 rod should be sufficient. Can start with brand like seahawk/ryobi/okuma etc

I went to the shop TCE Tackles. I was suggested this setup โ€œXpuyu Rod/Ajiking Reel (Galaxy S3000)โ€ and Ajiking Line Pro M 30LB, 100M.
*
The specs seem like ok already but i have never experienced the xpuyu/ajiking brand. They are quite popular for entry level so i think should be no problem as long they are within your budget.

Where are you from ? I'm from Bangi, Selangor.

I can take you for Toman fishing in Cyberjaya and Putrajaya areas.

They are non-fishing areas but I know the "line clear" spots. Lots of good-size Toman !
*
Heyy i am from bangi as well. When is ur next toman fishing mind if i follow?

kuala selangor which area? tnjg karang?...no boat..saw people upload photo in fb..but cost also play important role here..costly to rent boat everytime go fishing..not to include live bait..rm1 per prawn..die la..haha.. laugh.gif
*
Not really sure the location but last time i took boat from jeti sg yu. Shared among 4 persons. Quite costly compared to pond fishing but since now salt water pond price has been increased (some close to rm100/3hour) i still prefer boat fishing although bit expensive but can guarantee catch and satisfaction. The fishes also taste a lot better ๐Ÿ˜‹

Wah kuantan port got good fishing spot? Mind to share the exact location?
Kuantan is my hometown but donโ€™t know any fishing kaki there so most of the time spent alone for pond fishing only. Haha

Single hook only ? Dang it ! Malas nak tukar hook.  :lol2:

Do you frequently go to that place ? How do you rate that place ?

Can I have its full address ?
*
Thats what my friend told me. Single hook only.
Actually last week was my first time lor. They have just clean their pond replaced the water and so on. Some of my friend went lure casting some live prawn casting. Seem like all the fishes we got were from live prawn casting, not a single one from lure casting. Maybe u can try ur luck lure casting there.

There are 2 ponds, kolam atas and kolam bawah. The one I went was kolam bawah. Siakap and kaci.

The address i am not sure but you can google/waze kolam taman u should bring u there.

I see, I see. Very interesting. Thank you for providing me the information.  notworthy.gif

I never go fishing at a pay pond before. What setup do you recommend for pond fishing ?

Ultra light or medium light tackle ?
*
Most syiok feeling is ultralight but not for me since i am no expert and no confidence in those. Small mistake then fish gone ๐Ÿ˜…. I am using spinning 2500 with 15lbs braid as main. If BC also i put 15lbs braid as main line. Pair with light rods with poundage 8-16lbs
